Well, that's one way to get the coolant pumping. A polar bear just came up and hugged me. Good thing I figured out it wasn't a yao guai before I could get my gun out. (Which is to say, Ellie, the big white fellas that look like extra-furry yao guai are polar bears. And apparently these are friendly.)

A few days ago, Hawke's toy dragon stopped flapping around and attempting murder. When I removed it from the chest we had trapped it in, it appeared normal. Are these "Troubles" finished, then?

On days such as these, I devoutly hope that my mother's belief that how one spent the first days of the New Year would dictate the tone of the entire year was incorrect.

To the attention of Medical and Magical departments: We had a bit of a problem at the vegetable market this morning. A young fellow asked me if I were Chinese or Japanese and then promptly had his lips sewn shut by an unseen force. I am accompanying him to medical now; he is quite distressed.

Well, if this don't beat all. Hell of a step up from Diamond City, I gotta say. I'm actually feeling a little grubby by comparison; normally I get to feel like a class act because I'm one of a half dozen guys in town who know how to tie a necktie.

For the people doing the staring: I'm a synth. A jumped-up robot with a mind of my own, basically, but not quite as fancy as the new ones that look and work just like average joe humans. Fancier than the ones that just follow Institute orders, though, so you don't have to worry that I'm gonna start shooting lasers at you. I'm actually going back on the old Protect and Serve beat here.

So, this looks like a place that's probably got a good mechanic. Anybody know where I can find 'em? I haven't had time for a full tune-up in a while, and if I don't go for it now I'll have Ellie on my case.

I have never particularly sought leadership positions, but I must say it is quite heartening to be in a place where a man with a name and color such as mine can be called Commander. I shall, of course, do my best to rise to the occasion and serve both my department and the people of Atlantis well.

Ah, it is good to be alive! And AWAKE! There is nothing like being forced out of life for a few days to remind you how precious it is! I haven't enjoyed getting up in the morning and getting into the gym this much since the last time Angela had to give me medical clearance after an injury! And pancakes! They can keep you from starving to death in the hospital in a coma, but they cannot give you pancakes! It is a beautiful morning!

This morning, I woke up with a hat on my head. Waking up to unexpected clothing is not entirely unusual for me, so at first I was simply glad that my drunken antics had not resulted in anything being on fire.

But then I took the hat off, and there was another hat! And another, and another! I cannot get rid of the hats! I have finally stopped trying, and I am currently wearing a crown of flowers.

This is all to say: does anyone require more hats in their collection? I have forty-three of various styles on the floor of my room, including a very fierce-looking metal helmet shaped like a roaring lion and one very colorful cloth hat with jingling bells on it.

Someone please sort this out before my home is filled entirely with bananas. I enjoy fruit, but this is ridiculous.

Does anyone else here celebrate the lunar new year? I enjoyed having a very English Christmas, and I would also enjoy having a very Chinese New Year. Since most of us are far from our homes and families, it seemed proper to reach out to the community at large.

Previously, if I celebrated at all, it was under the auspices of someone else's home, but I thought I might enjoy attempting the dumplings myself this year. Should any of the rest of you have interest in ringing in the Year of the Pig in Chinese style, let me know, and I will plan accordingly.

I think I understand much of how Christmas is celebrated, but I am left to wonder one thing: why? What god or emperor does this holiday honor? It is clearly very important to many people in many worlds and nations, but I have heard no one explain what it is for!
