I've talked about this a bit, going back and forth, trying to talk things out, but now I'm going to make it official. I've decided that I won't be staying in Atlantis permanently. Earth still needs me, we have a lot of work to do and a lot of pieces to pick up, and I would feel more comfortable if I were actually there myself.

I won't be leaving right away. For now, I'm planning to stay on through Christmas, maybe through New Year's Eve. I owe it to everyone here to see us through some of this rebuilding period and to do what I can to make my absence easier to take.

And that's that.

We've been through a lot, lately. We've lost loved ones and colleagues, and this war has left gaps behind in our lives, whether it was because someone left Atlantis or because they were lost in the battle. I won't lie and say that those holes ever fill in entirely. My truth is more that you learn to live with them, and you learn how to support the ground that's left, so it doesn't all crumble. There are always going to be moments where I think about the friends I've lost, and one in particular. I often find myself wondering what he would say about the person I am now, about the choices I've made - especially when it's one that has put me in the crosshairs. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, all of these moments have a tendency to stir up immense emotions. Or they don't - and that's okay, too.

There's usually a lot of talk about the stages of grief, but I don't like to talk about it that way. That way makes it sound like there's a specific timeline, specific steps we all take, when that is rarely the case. Grief differs between people, it differs day by day, and that's all completely normal. What you feel right now might be different from the person next to you. It might be different from how you feel tomorrow, or a week from now, or six months from now. It's not linear in the way we've been lead to believe. Sometimes you cycle back to emotions you've already felt. Anger, regret, helplessness, betrayal, loneliness, isolation, disbelief, even thankfulness - this can all be part of the process. You might have trouble sleeping. Your appetite might change. You might just feel tired, or maybe you'll feel energized and like you can accomplish a whole lot in one day. You might be angry at the person who is gone, or at those who took them from you, or at yourself for thinking you didn't do enough. There's no one way to grieve for someone or something.

Lean on each other. Be patient with one another. And remember our doors are open for anyone who wants to talk. Or you can message me here if that's more comfortable.

I was really hoping there'd be more music today, because yesterday felt like everyone woke up and thought, "what would make Sam's Monday seem less like a Monday? I know, blues music!"

At least today everyone's been nice. Overly nice, but still nice.

PLOT: ♆ - 10 CHARACTERS turns into a regular sized Teddy Bear for 24 hours, while 5 CHARACTERS can't help wanting to have tea parties with said teddy bears.

Okay, as fun as it's been to run around making sure everyone has good dreams, does anyone know how much longer this is going to last? Or how we can change back? I'm ready to get back to my regularly scheduled programming. Let's brainstorm. Care Bears, assemble!

TEAMS 7 & 15 [Alicia Spinnet, Wanda Maxomoff, Tobias Eaton, Armel Chevalier, Henry Ferris, Alexios]

Training today will be in the Danger Room. Arrive at 0900. You'll have 45 minutes to prepare, and the session will begin at 1000.

The setting will be a large compound similar to the setup of the base but with several differences. Same weapons as last time but instead of simply eliminating the other team, there will be an objective to retrieve a item hidden within the compound. You'll receive more information when you arrive about what you'll be looking for but not before then.

Use any abilities you may have, magic or otherwise. This is about strategy and stealth as well as the physical training aspect to the exercise.

First team to locate the target picks the Danger Room training scenario next month. Losing team supplies drinks this afternoon.

So that's what you all meant by an Atlantis party. I didn't take it seriously before, but I get it now. That was a hell of a thing. I apologize to anyone that I kissed, hugged, danced with, or otherwise made uncomfortable.

I think I'm still recovering from the embarrassment.

ARENA FOLKS:

Just as a reminder - I'm still running the support groups, three times a week, and I don't plan on that stopping any time soon. I know opening up in front of a group of people can be intimidating, but it's perfectly all right if you come to listen for a bit, too. No pressure. But I will say that, from my experience with other veterans, that talking to someone who's been through similar things really can be helpful.
