I can't believe you left me to my devices trying to plant flowers in this weather with no experience beyond "put it in the dirt maybe something grows". I can't stop thinking about this. I feel so terribly stupid. Why didn't you stop me? I tried to make little greenhouses with plastic bags and sticks! It doesn't work the air is still too cold! Varric! I thought I could trust you.

You owe me for this I don't demand much but I demand an entire 24 hours' compensation.

Getting jumped while taking an insomnia walk is something I'd expect in Thedas, but certainly not here. If anybody needs an extra body for the search and apprehension of these deviants I'd like to offer. I fought back and I suspect that's why it ran away however, apologies for that.

Woke up way too early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Apparently I needed to think about every major decision I've ever made and whether or not I made the right choice. Now I'm weighing the benefits of just getting up and starting the day versus trying to get more sleep -- after all, it's Friday -- and what kind of coffee would be the best option if I do. I could make some headway on my next book, though now that I'm thinking about it, I should probably rewrite a bit of it because there's a few things that could probably flow a bit better.

Okay, getting up. Brain won't shut up.

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me what Trivia Night entails? It sounds fun, but I'm not sure if I fully understand what it is about.

Barely a moment's respite between this place's trickery and the needs of the war. Not that I am complaining, being bored is worse.

My first mission begins today. And it seems Hawke and I are teamed up, which should be interesting. I will do my best to keep him safe from harm.

Guess what I found! It's almost as good as a dragon. In ten days time, we will be enjoying a holiday here in Atlantis! For those of you who, like me, aren't familiar with many holidays, it is a day dedicated to the power of love, and it's called Valentines Day. Or... Valentine's Day. I'm honestly not sure. I did some research on it, and it appears as if Valentine was some sort of holy man in his day, but honestly all that bit was a lot of reading and I got bored so you'll have to look up the rest of that if you'd like some history because I definitely didn't stick with it. But the holiday dedicated to St. Valentine is wonderful! It's a celebration of love, which I think is so essential. In dark and uncertain times, there's nothing quite so reassuring as knowing that there's someone or someones out there waiting for you to get home, is there?

From what I can tell, the main colours of this holiday are pink and red. There are lots of images of lovers gazing into another's eyes, beautiful small paper artworks with embroidered lace, and somewhat bafflingly, what appear to be winged babies wearing poorly-constructed diapers shooting people. I'm not sure what that's about. Perhaps it's to remind us that life is fleeting and that we should love while we have the opportunity before babies kill us with tiny arrows? I've also discovered through the research that wasn't historical and dull that people are supposed to give one another chocolates or cinnamon candies on Valentines Day, love letters, roses (or other flowers), and send anonymous letters of love to their crushes. So if you're single, this is still a holiday that you can benefit from!

I'm very excited about Valentines Day. It seems optimistic and fun and lighthearted, and with the days being so short and spring seemingly so far away, I could use the distraction.

I wanted to check in with the status of our rescue mission. We had a few snags at the start, between a nasty storm and a bit of tricky navigating. Today, we found and were tracking a COS agent -- the bastard disappeared into a tree, which then exploded. We've got a few plans we're working through now, but it's at least a lead.

We're getting there. We'll get them back.

We really should finalize a date and get going on the planning. Do you have anything you've been imagining in particular? I was thinking something down at the harbor but we'd need things to warm up a bit first, if we don't want everyone whining about how cold they are through the whole ceremony. (By everyone, I mean me, obviously.) End of February or sometime in March, maybe?

Lot of peculiar stuff on the network yesterday. Not just normal peculiar either, we've got people speaking in peculiar languages, peculiar things happening, peculiar bits of luck getting thrown about, peculiar shops showing up around town... the whole thing is just a step above our normal peculiar. It's also kind of peculiar how we're just rolling with it, as a whole.

Someone please sort this out before my home is filled entirely with bananas. I enjoy fruit, but this is ridiculous.

Thank you for all the lovely gifts you gave me for this year's Sati-- well, somewhat Satinalia! How very kind of you to think of me. I was particularly impressed by the wrapping paper, which some of you used to beautiful effect, and some of you used to be very enthusiastic.

As I received an abundance of spirits this year, I'm inviting you all to an impromptu and very casual celebration at my flat tonight. Look! Hardly any advanced warning! So daringly last-minute! This place is a terrible influence on me. But yes, very casual - no need for dress or masks - and feel free to bring any leftover bits and bites to eat if you'd like. I'll have some items on hand, so no need if you can only bring yourself and a plus one. Satinalia is as good a time as any for romance, after all!
