It's strange... to go back to a world where you've lived, which is both familiar and foreign..




I'm beginning to think that I should give up on trying to get a vacation. We went on an anniversary trip.. which of course got interrupted by . a mission to the world where we met. I suppose nothing is guaranteed in a place like this.

At least Atlantis was kind enough to let Jason and Helena stay through the renewal of vows that we had on the 1st.

It turns out that the photo album Eliot found days ago was chock full of people, trapped in photographs just like Aurora Blake, whose photo we accidentally discovered and ripped up, thus releasing her. We've spent the entirety of today ripping the photos and releasing people.

I think dragons are awesome but this stuffed one on my bed keeps asking me the strangest things. I hope it doesn't turn into a real dragon when this over since I would have no idea where to keep it.

I think my favorite bit of Christmas decor is the glitter. I apparently am a minority in that, though; people seem to have pretty strong reactions.

That is some kind of transporter! It took me a couple of days to be sure I hadn't just been celebrating too hard when I walked into the base here, but I'm happy to have my shore leave extended to Atlantis. Especially since I hear talk about people turning into ponies.

Hello, and Happy Christmas! I'm Kevin Riley, newly-minted lieutenant of the USS Enterprise, and I'd appreciate any suggestions about what to see and drink while I'm here.

Today I got a set of flannel pajamas which will definitely come in handy as cold as it is. Unfortunately they are printed with little penguins wearing scarves so I will never wear them outside my room and no, I am not taking a picture of myself in them.

I've woken up in unusual beds before, but never ones quite as nice as this.

Nor have I woken up to fantastical sights such as these. I'm not sure if I can believe it, or if I can believe that my beautiful wife is here along with my best friends. Perhaps once I am done with this intake meeting I can see them for myself. In some way.

Or maybe I'll fall back asleep and wake up back at the garrison in Paris.

My urge to knock things over has vanished this morning, thank goodness. To my housemates, I am so sorry, I've fixed the refrigerator and all the other damage it falling created.

Hopefully Atlantis won't include me in the next round of knocking things over. It doesn't take into account super strength.

I recognize magical compulsion when I see it, Atlantis. I guess I should be thankful you decided to give this 'encouragement' when there's a blizzard outside. I'm not going anywhere today.

I need to ask you something. Maybe over tequila.

I'm ridiculously dramatic and monumentally stupid, I know this and am also gifted with being self-aware. So, in the interest of said self-awareness, I need to get my head on straight. That means I'm cutting myself off. Entirely.

Things were shit, and then they were okay and then they were kind of shit again, and now that I'm here, I definitely went overboard on the drinking and sex and drugs. I was painfully useless when stuck in the jungle two days ago - sorry Peter, you're lovely and your girlfriend is very lucky - and I've been ... a mess.

So, here we go. Yoga, virgin drinks, actually doing my job and magical research and practice. I've got this.

(That said, I'm not cruel enough to cut all of you off, so I'll still help out with cocktails at any party after a week or so. This week probably won't be that great, as I've learned in the past. But at least I'm not quitting smoking, cause ha my willpower is not that grand.)

Today, our walk after work took Louis and I through the zoo. In what I can only assume is a combination of the animal-switching and meeting a lion for the first time, he has now declared himself a lion cub and is primarily communicating in roars.

It's very, very cute.

Please, if you see us out, react accordingly to what is clearly a small lion at my side.

I never thought I would find a book about myself. Especially not here. But I'm grateful I did, or I'd probably still be in the Library now and have missed the bonfire!
