It's hard to keep to Lent when you're not in a place that you can feel appropriately comfortable to go without, particularly when you are not sure what without might be. As it is, I suppose the mission did my choosing for me. I was glad to go without the limits I'd placed on myself and glad to lend a few fists to beat back the COS. To the team who hosted me, I am thankful for your deferential treatment and your kind ability to trust a blind man.

Surprise, my name means clear. Really glad I spent the time looking that up instead of getting pancakes this morning. (I also looked up my middle name, but I'm not sharing that.)

Did anyone else wake up to a tarot reading a few weeks ago? I wouldn't normally give those a lot of weight, but I keep thinking about how strange Atlantis is, and I'm not sure anymore.

Something Ezio asked me a couple months ago has been nagging at me. Wanted to see what you thought about it before I dive in.

Hello! I can't stop worr Over a decade ago, I nearly died due to a corruption - we call it the Taint, it's a terrible word, so I apologize if I use it here. In our world, the only way to save someone from the corruption is to hope they survive a Grey Warden ritual - I went through it, and survived and became a Grey Warden. It's a lifelong debt, rather boring to hear about so I'll spare you, but it involved me (bleh) ingesting more of the actual corruption and a drop of archdemon blood so my body becomes "immune" to the Taint.

I say "immune", because it is actually more like a "cross your fingers and hope for the best" and prolongs, rather than heals entirely. Depending on the circumstances, we're given an extra twenty or so years to serve as a Grey Warden for all of Thedas, and I'm over halfway through that. It has a whole host of side-effects, including infertility.

For the record, I feel perfectly fine here. I wasn't actually going to inquire about figuring out any sort of cure, because I assumed we'd all go home after winning the war and there was no point to it. But now that I've met my son, and I know I have a future here--

Well, I would like to see if there's anything to be done, at some point.

I know Thedas magic does little for it, I can't just heal away any traces of the corruption in a simple zap, and we have only ever heard of one person that's managed a cure in our world and they refuse to share that information.


So, if you have any thoughts or would like to help, I would appreciate anything any of you might have to offer on the subject at hand.

The last few years have been a roller coaster, to say the least. A lot of highs that took my life places I never expected, and a lot of really low lows that did the same. More lows than anything else, the kind that spiral and you feel out of control. And then I came here and got to meet all of you (or see you again), got to have my mom meet all of you, got to spend the holiday with people I care about instead of staring at the walls of a hospital like every other year (which I didn’t hate, but this was a nice new normal, too), and that is a gift I’ll never take for granted. I feel really lucky to know all of you, and so I wanted to say thank you for making Atlantis one hell of a place to be.

Even in this crazy snow, I managed to ride a Pegasus today. Atlantis magic (???) or whatever it is lightened up the snowfall while I was riding.

I'm guessing they're not on the list of adoptable pets here, are they?

Well, the good news about being a nurse is that I know exactly how long I have to spend in this stupid forest before I'm too cold to do whatever I'm supposed to do out here. I don't know what about me screams "yes, this city girl is very comfortable outdoors," but here we are.

It can be a little difficult to make peace with some things that happen here. At home, there was an artifact that could control people and I used it - briefly - in order to confiscate it from men who would have abused its power a hundred thousand times over. It makes me especially anxious when Atlantis decides to steal people's will, but also regretful for when I chose to do the same to others. The greater good excuse feels hollow in retrospect.

Nothing can change what is done, but I hope to keep putting some good back into the universe to balance the scales. It is a small thing, but I offered to foster injured birds for the animal shelter, hoping my experience with messenger birds could come in handy there. I did not expect they would allow me to care for this extraordinary creature.

With everyone seemingly turning into their pets, I cannot help but think how funny it would be if W'Kabi were here and turned into his rhino. It seems I will half to content myself with the mental picture though.
