[TVD / TO / LEGACIES-VERSE]

One thing I've enjoyed about my time in Atlantis - I've been able to solve problems, sometimes multiple ones per day. The thing about mechanics is that most things want to be fixed; they want to run smoothly and do the job they were made to do. I won't call it simple but it lacks the complexity that so many of us face back in Mystic Falls and New Orleans. It lacks the complexity that the COS brings us here.

It allows me to feel like I belong. It allows me the breadth of affection and good humor. But more than that, all of you allow it. So, I wanted to say thank you. If you're free tonight, let's get together. A simple dinner with no schemes, no motives, nothing about the COS or what's happening in our other lives. Let's just be together.

P.S. Thanks for dealing with me when I was high.

I know that we are all very loose when it comes to the definition of reality (and in Atlantis, reality is an extremely flexible subject) but for some reason Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark hits close to home.

(Though, Lucy? You're far more Marian than I am. To be quite honest, I more directly identify with the bloody French archaeologist. Should I admit that to you all? I'm not quite sure. You've read books and you've seen movies. My best adjectives are "problematic yet effective".

Best advice I can give to the non-yo-yoers? Carry a swiss army knife.

On behalf of the fir tree by the lake:

If there are picnics beneath this trees boughs, ensure that you pick up after yourself because when the rain comes the water that seeps into its roots is laced with the stench of people (and you should pick up your trash - that's from me).

Trees can speak to one another through a complex web of fungi that connect their roots to one another and they talk about us when we're scurrying about. They think it's funny when the breezes ruffle our hair and make us look unkempt.

They hope for rain and suggest we get stronger umbrellas or better yet, raincoats.

I know we lose a lot of people around here. I know that we all feel it because it isn't controllable a lot of the time and we're not just a group of soldiers. We're a family. That's what makes all these losses so difficult. I'm sorry if you're hurting because Bonnie left. I know I am.

And on a very logistical front, Bonnie was helping me with magic. I have a lot of power and sometimes it's hard to control. I'm getting a lot better and I'm not dangerous 99% of the time. Let's be pretty real about it too. We all know our lives keep on rolling, even when we're here in this alternate reality. I'm afraid of what my life is doing.

So, what I'm trying to say is ... magic is different. But we all kind of approach it from that same perspective of letting it flow through us and manipulating it in such a way that makes magic biddable. If someone wanted to keep helping me that would be great.

Atlantis has been giving me a strange sense of dejavu lately.

Whilst working with the Team (way to make the bread happen, ladies), I ran across an issue of Popular Mechanics. It wasn't something I necessarily thought to find in Atlantis of all places. Fitz always managed to find an issue and give it a thorough scouring so he could rake the commentators over the coals. I may not ever see him again here and I'm quite through with feeling sad about it.

I'm going to read this magazine and then I'm going to make a mound of grilled cheese sandwiches. You're welcome to one of you'd like.

Anyone who wants to channel their feelings into some productivity can meet me at the base after dinner for additional training. I won't tell you not to let COS or the glitches get the better of you; it's good to feel what you're in. This life is tenuous and precious. We're at the mercy of forces outside of our control all while trying to save our own worlds and live a little while we're here.

So go ahead and feel it. But it's also good to give your feelings the legs they need to keep you moving forward. Consider it.

I really like sleeping. Atlantis has the best accommodation I've ever seen. Soft beds. No cots.

But it doesn't have log cabins. And if I can't have a log cabin, then I'm not sleeping. So I guess it's time to get started.

I know there's a training center and a Danger Room but I'm not interested in being contained by walls or the eyes of the trainers. If you would like to have it out (try your hand at some full-force one on one) I will be on the beach tomorrow morning.

There is a good part of me that hopes COS is watching.

Since I received a camera today (and I have documented everything, just so you know), I think it would be really quite amazing to get an "Atlantis Class Picture". I want to see if we can all get together for a photo. What do you say? Tonight, let's meet outside of the base where the lights are still good and see what we can do.

I left early this morning and I usually think to check the weather, but got to walk home in the rain. Usually I get a little worried about my shoes (a stupidly adult worry) but today, I decided to walk home nice and slow.

It was a warm, easy rain and I'll get another pair of shoes.
