HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I never really know what to get anybody, so I usually just get stupid novelty gifts but I realised that only like, works with a long history of giving stupid novelty gifts so instead I baked you a cake. Is there a good time to bring it over, what with the...fairy shenanigans?

Things they don't teach you in officer training: how to change a diaper one handed in the dark. Though I can now mark that off my list.


It seems not even today's rain will deter my daughter from her pegasus riding lessons. She's been improving a lot this year and it's incredible to watch. (Although flying a pegasus is not the same as flying a starship.)

Also, I am incredibly grateful she did not inherit her mother's penchant for flinging horse manure at me.

It's funny how taste can trigger memories. Last night I went out for tacos but ended up having fried catfish instead and I swear it took me back to one of my early missions in the south when May and I were still fresh out of the academy and we'd been following this guy for days and were ravenous and there was this shack in the middle of nowhere, Louisiana... turned out to be part of a crime ring we took down, but they had some of the best damned catfish I've ever had. Deep fried and buttery. That was also the first time I ate crawfish..


So, what's a taste that's particularly memorable to you and why?

I don't know if it's just Atlantis messing up with my head or it actually means something, but I thought you should know I've been dreaming about past missions -- even those I have never been involved in. Maybe it means something? I don't know.

Sometimes I wonder about my sanity in this place.

I guess there could be worse things than waking up in a pool of chocolate pudding, but I can't think of any right now.

I left early this morning and I usually think to check the weather, but got to walk home in the rain. Usually I get a little worried about my shoes (a stupidly adult worry) but today, I decided to walk home nice and slow.

It was a warm, easy rain and I'll get another pair of shoes.
