[John's recent conversation with Helena on the mutant issue hadn't spurred him to the Mutant Cause. He was so done with the cause. The cause, right now, could go fuck itself. John had died multiple times because of the cause and different mutants struggling for supremacy. He was, in a word, finished.

So it was time to travel to another door.

He didn't know what door he was entering, and at first, the bright lights and the energy of 1920's New York made him roll his eyes. Couldn't he get away from New York? But as he walked, he noticed the details of a book read long ago. Of glamor and death, and a green light in the distance. The Great Gatsby. He loved that book.

So as the sun set, he made his way through the people to try to find one hell of a party.]

I don't like admitting this, but I have no idea where I am. I just know it's in the past and on Earth.

[The one thing she loved about the 1920's happened to be the dresses. Fringe, beads, glitz, the headbands, the stockings. Everything else could go, the smell of New York, the Prohibition, but the clothes? Those could stay. Dressed in a forest green Somerset dress with all the dazzling extras, she looked like she could at least belong in the time period. A modest headband of green and black beads, dangles draping over her temple kept her short hair back. A pair of Mary Jane ankle strap dog kennels (weird American slang) adorned her feet as they were the shoe to have. And in shiny new black, fit with the rest.

But, sadly, they made very little sound on the carpet of the hotel. Something that was rectified as soon as she was on the streets of New York, heels giving a dull click with every step on sidewalks that were more like the ones she was accustomed to, and less like the ones she'd just left behind. She got a few odd looks, not many, and one person helpfully informed her that she missed the 20's by nearly a century.]

Duh, idiót. [Retort shot back to the less than helpful man as she continued on toward the address Jessica had given her (halfway on the other side of the city, Чёрт!, but a walk around the more modern city might be nice), the fringe of her dress brushing against her stocking-covered calves. Walk it was, arms loosely swaying at her sides, clutch held tight in one hand.]

Whelp superheroing doesn't actually pay the bills, plus occasionally a lot of down time (that I don't mind knock on wood), so I'm going back to the PI business. If you know anyone who needs it in NYC, send them my way. No case is too small.

Just throwing this out here that we still have space at the mansion if anyone needs to crash. We also have our own gym and simulation room for training. Also I haven't had a good match on the pool table in a long time. In the past people sort of come and go as they like if they don't need a permanent space. If you'd like to see it for yourself just out of curiosity let me know.

Also, Carol suggested we have a poker game. Anyone into poker?

Dear Online Diary,

This morning Aunt May made pancakes. Which... she makes every morning, but hey, I'm not complaining. Definitely could pass on the bacon (I love her to death, but she burns it every time). Am considering getting a dog to feed it to. Made it to class on time, woo hoo! Jimmy Jones came thisclose to breaking a super expensive piece of lab equipment. Highlight of my day. Sold another picture. My boss still thinks we're in the 60s, I'm starting to get worried.

And I might have somehow ended up in a parallel universe. World. Thing. Maybe? Time vortex? Or I just hit my head really hard
