Movie Night on the Green
The night was a simple byproduct of Loki's mania. But the intentions were well-meaning! All of the recent parties and galas have literally either been plots to kill our poor, undeserving Derleth residents or lure them into some mind-altering catastrophe. It's about time there was just a normal little party, right? Except everyone seems to be pretty partied out. So Loki with the help of some friends—you know who you are—came up with Movie Night on the Green. The movie? Top Gun. Because half the campus has been singing the theme song all week. And by lucky coincidence, another Loki just happens to have that movie downloaded on his phone. Wonders never cease. So Loki and Loki (and maybe Loki?) hang up a sheet between two trees to use as a screen and prepare for what should be a calm night with friends.Sep. 13th, 2022

They had to do a lot of sneaking, a lot of breaking and entering, and now they've stolen a dune buggy and are riding back to town as fast as they can with their loot. MUCH ADO
THE PLAY
Faeries and Zombies and Disappearances, oh my - the Show Must Go On, and tonight is the night that the cast and crew of Much Ado About Nothing will perform. Hugh Christian and the cast and crew of Much Ado About Nothing will meet at the Peaslee Theatre mid-afternoon, and the show will start promptly at 7:00 pm. This classic Shakespeare comedy has been reimagined into a Post World War II mid-century setting, because when Derleth gives you 1945 Toon Town, you take advantage.
Will it go off perfectly without a hitch? Will it have a few mishaps and wobbles? Will the audience cheer anyway? Or will there be tomatoes involved? Only time (& the comments below) will tell.
AFTER THE SHOW
Of course you can meet the cast after the show, they'll be happy to sign your program or take a photo with you.
And hey, we made it through this week, didn't lose any additional cast members, the ones that just got cast before the Zombie apocalypse did great, and now it is time for the party! Everyone - cast, crew, and all of Derleth - is welcome to hang out, drink food and eat appetizers and dance until the reset.
PARTY UNTIL RESET
There will be a table with appetizer things, and there will be drinks, maybe fewer fabulous forties cocktails than Hugh would have liked to have had, but after two semi-apocalyptic weeks, whatever drinks we have are better than none at all.
Hugh has his laptop which does have a 🎶 Dance Mix 🎶 with a lot of pop from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s, but he'll add anything that anyone else has that they want to play, or any requests that he has in his collection.
The stage is open for dancing, the food and drink is in the lobby, and everyone is welcome to hang out for a short period of time, or all the way up to reset.

ONE: There are comment headers for players who want to volunteer to lose something, and players who are willing to have their character pair up and help someone find what they're missing. These are passive volunteer slots. If you are burning to do this plot, actively respond to an existing plot or work up the courage to message one of your fellow lovely players. DO plan what you're going to do in advance.
TWO: No rolling for "what your character loses". Since this is temporary, select the option that makes the most sense of your character. If your character never smiles, they might not even notice they've lost the ability.
THREE: Would you like this condition to be permanent? Or have lasting repercussions in some other way? Please contact the mod and workshop your idea. As long as it doesn't make your character unplayable, it will be okay.
FOUR: Some of your characters that de-age may end up below the 16 year old threshold. That's fine. This is a test case for allowing younger characters as there has been interest. However you need to put content warnings in place for child endangerment.
FIVE: Consider timing. Perhaps you'd like your character to lose something on day two, but not get back what they lost until day six. That is fine. They do not have to resolve their issue right away if it's something you'd like to play with.
SIX: Thread responses are encouraged. (♥) Use the subject line in the comments to let folks know if interaction is open or closed and what day it takes place. Have fun!

What: IC/OOC post for Ranch trip - Horseback riding, stargazing, swimming, tennis, campfire stories, and more!
The Kemper Campbell Ranch has operated as a guest ranch since 1930 and is just a few hours up Route 66. Pike (and whoever else) will be heading up there on day 6 in the morning and coming back the afternoon of day 7. If you want to get away from the city, go horseback riding, hiking in the desert, enjoy a bit of a vacation... this is the opportunity for you.

Three out of four of the Stranger Things Older Teen Group arrive in Derleth. Given that things weren't looking so good for their fourth, Nancy Wheeler, they're probably going to be freaking out. Are they all under Vecna control now? Have they been abducted to another fresher smelling and less evil (ha) version of the Upside Down?
What IS this strange thing that they all have in their pockets now? Is it Russian tech meant to track them? Maybe Dustin could figure it out, but Dustin? He is not here.

Yelena will not, unfortunately, be showing up to the theater on the morning of day five of this week, nor will she be answering any replies to this message or any other messages she might receive. Why, you ask? (No you don't, most everyone totally knows why!)
A couple hours after sending that message and managing to fall into a restless sleep, Yelena's cupcake curse comes calling. Is it dust? Did she accidentally tickle her own nose with her hair? Does she actually have allergies? Hard to say, but she pops awake, is too groggy to remember to try to stop it, and sneezes. It's pretty peaceful, all told - probably not even loud enough to wake her roommate, and she falls back onto her pillows like she's just asleep.

TO SLEEP—
Perchance to dream.
Clan Lasombra doesn't sleep. Not really. Dreams aren't a natural occurrence for their kind, slipping into a miniature oblivion instead. It's a pleasant experience for Julia, if only because she hasn't experienced anything like it since she was turned over a year ago. Her curse does present a problem, however...
Ay, there’s the rub!
When the vampire sleeps, those around her will begin to feel tired and fall asleep next to her. Someone needs to wake her, and those fallen into unconsciousness with her, without falling victim to supernatural slumber themselves. Julia can be found on the green outside of Butler Hall, visible to everyone that comes and goes.

THE CURSE: Difficulty staying awake. Your dreams are a much more pleasant place to be, filled with delight, also there are people dancing? They look like they’re having fun. However, if you fall asleep close to others, they too will start to get drowsy. If they succumb to slumber, you’ll share a pleasant dreamspace until one of you wakes.
RELATED CURSE: When you sleep, you go dancing. Your dance partner is very attractive, but you dance the entire night away and wake up sore and exhausted as if you got no real rest at all.
These curses appear to be connected to the same realm. Those who suffer from the related curse will be forced to dance, the entire time, just as they have the night before. Those to succum to Julia's curse will find what looks to be an abandoned palace, covered in ivy and growth. A way in can be found, the ball happening within, filled with other dancers unable or unwilling to stop, all dressed in fine clothing.
Perhaps Doctor Strange is right. Are the fae behind this? What does it mean?

During the nighttime hours, you'll hear ominous cackles echoing from The Green. If you're brave enough to investigate, you'll soon come across a lone, silver-furred hyena. It has a wound; a slash across its left eye. Hmn. Wonder who could it be?

IT'S A HEIST
THE TARGET
One Loki Laufeyson, god trapped on the wrong side of the material plane. It would be madness to release the architect of the Battle of Empire City, but who better to answer questions about the gods?

THE LOCATION
None other than DSS Headquarters, a highly secured facility in Empire City. The only place that could safely contain The God of Mischief. The DSS deals with aliens, magic and the supernatural. You'd have to be out of your mind to want to steal something from them...
THE THIEVES
A small group of scrappy hedgewitches. Is this a bad idea? Yes. Will it likely go wrong? Also yes. Are they doing it anyway? Of course.
Lucky for them there might be members of the DSS who have at least a passive interest in letting the Asgardian trickster go free...

Hugh and Eliot and Mobius have plotted to get everyone on the network together with the hopes that at least a few people will be open to having their memories scanned by Mobius so they can get some answers why some of Delerth's residents and some do not.
Invitation arrived on the network. It's a garden party, an exclusive viewing of A Mid-Summer Night's Dream taking place at a park in Empire City. If you are on the network, you're invited. There will be food and an open bar. No RSVP required, fairy queen costumes optional.
The Set Up
Hugh and Eliot reserved a private residence for the night, one of those mansions that host weddings and other events, but while most of the house is open, the majority of the event will take place on the lawn. Fairy lights, pillows, and candles are spread out across the lawn around a large outdoor movie screen. It's Midsummer! Or it isn't? That's not the point, the point is to come, enjoy wine, enjoy the cheese trays and hors d'ouvres and hopefully listen to the people who are asking for volunteers for brain scans - but in the meantime enjoy the show.
In addition to the outside movie watching space the house is open with candles throughout, if you want to find some quiet space in the mansion, it's definitely doable.

THE PARTY
ABOUT THE EVENT: With Hugh & Eliot's taste and the Magician's magic, they managed to pull off a surprisingly well put together party at Peaslee Theater.
GOOD DERLETH: Some of you are going to need to sing to sell the event, even if that might mean revealing something emotionally about yourself. Who's willing to step up?
BAD DERLETH: Who's going to show? Who's willing to sing? Anyone going to catch on as to the nature of the karaoke machine or does the alcohol, food and atmosphere of the party make that difficult to discover? Is this the night Bad Derleth tips its hand?
ABOUT THE KARAOKE MACHINE: it is mildly cursed. People who were around week eleven will remember it as that time they broke into song about their feelings. Eliot has rigged up the machine so you'll only sing if you step onto the stage, but your character doesn't get to pick their song. ABOUT THE FOOD: thanks to a handful of volunteers, there is a delicious menu of real food put out in welcome for the Other Derleth. If the sound of the music from the party doesn't draw them in, maybe the food will.
ABOUT THE BAR: and if the food and the music don't work, there's always the alcohol. Eliot came up with a drink menu, using what they have, and recruited Mobius to be the bar tender for the night. That puts him in a good position to keep a look out along with other perfectly innocent party goers that are totally not just using this as an excuse to keep an eye on the residents of the other Derleth.
OOC: It's an IC/OOC event. You know the drill! (And if you don't know the drill, here's a thing I wrote about IC/OOC events.) Because you're playing two of the same character, using the same journal, be sure to use the subject headers/comments to clearly label which good/bad characters show up.
GOOD DERLETH: Some of you are going to need to sing to sell the event, even if that might mean revealing something emotionally about yourself. Who's willing to step up?
BAD DERLETH: Who's going to show? Who's willing to sing? Anyone going to catch on as to the nature of the karaoke machine or does the alcohol, food and atmosphere of the party make that difficult to discover? Is this the night Bad Derleth tips its hand?
