Okay so first off, I did not touch anything. You should know that first. And I didn't attempt anything.

But, there are a lot of stuff in my apartment that make me think that I was probably dabbling in magic in this world. And by things, I mean spellbooks, potion bottles, weird ingredients, a scrying crystal, all that stuff. Do I have any memory of any of it? Not at all. But I think this case like that one time I turned into a magician from a werewolf which makes me believe I'm probably not a werewolf here either.

That was a fucking mistake.

I never thought I'd be grateful, let alone glad, to see the void and Derleth again. Magic is back, and this place doesn't feel like it's dying a slow agonizing death.

Seeing as I'm in a very good mood, I thought I'd offer my healing services without any sort of deals to be made. I have to heal myself every week from the Battle of Sodden Hill, and I'm sure there are others who have to deal with similar things.

Let me know how I can help.

Right now it seems like the campus is safe enough and I think it's better for all of us if we keep it that way, so I want to organize patrols to keep the perimeter as secure as we can. With at least some watches through the night to keep us from being surprised until we know exactly how bad the whole zombie situation is and if anything else is waiting to see if we're really bad at this. I know we'll have people out scouting for food and water, but if everybody goes out at once and comes back to find we have a big problem then it's sort of useless.

Let me know here if you want to sign up. I want to set up at least pairs and keep the turns as short as I can so nobody gets too tired and misses something, but I guess it depends on how many people want to help. We can work out weapons when we know who has them and who doesn't, and if you have special training in stealth and survival things then tell me that too. Night time is going to get interesting with no lights and I don't want to send anybody out who doesn't know what they're doing. And no lying - it doesn't hurt me right away if you lie, but it could probably kill you, so. Don't do that.

( PATROL ASSIGNMENTS )

So this is a post for all the magic users out there.

I'm attempting to work on the magic issue. There are, as far as I can tell, two possible causes.

One: The flow of magical energy is basically non-existent. Unless any of you have acquired any personal stores of energy or batteries on you, or want to try your hand sleeping with one of the resident gods, there's not much that can be done about that.

Two: The circumstances of the planet are fucked. Thankfully, I do have Brakebills' very own circumstance control panel. If anyone would like to try and provide assistance, I'll get it set up in the library. It has a short range but maybe we can use it to get some wards back up around campus.

And if anyone else has any ideas...?

I had a very strange dream that I was lost in the forest, that the trees were moving, trying to keep me lost. They directed me to to a little hut, I never got to see what was inside it. I kept walking towards it, but it felt like the void, where you keep walking but never get anywhere. It seemed like I was trapped, and the air and the trees were so thick around me that it seemed to dampen my screams.

When I woke up, I tried to portal to Dexter Hall. I remember what it looks like and where it was, but I ended up in the middle of the forest. For a half second, I thought I was recreating the dream, but then I found the little clearing in the Green. It's overgrown now. Not so much a clearing, but an overgrown spot without those trees.

This is going to be a very long week, but I'm so excited for the ball. I plan to dance as much as I can.

So there's been a small setback in the plan to make death irrelevant. I thought I had a source for a magical substance (living clay, if that matters) and it turns out I don't. While the pieces from Dino Island are interesting, none of it actually produces a new body in case your current one is killed during The Fuckery of the Week™.

All of that is to say, anyone know how to create a backup body? Science, magic or otherwise? This world may have cartoons but it's lacking big magical resources and obviously the tech isn't there yet.
