Steve was well out of breath as he jogged down the hall to the apartment number that matched the address on his white-knuckled phone. He’d made the trip sooner than ten minutes, but not much even though there was a bus that carried him half the way.

It had just been long enough for him to catch his breath and groan softly to himself, more memories threading themselves together as he read and reread the earlier list of words. The mention of dust was still making him nauseous, and as he’d scrambled over he’d eventually fixated on the notion that it still couldn’t all be true. He was remembering Bucky and Sam, dead. Gone.

Finding the door Steve nearly tripped, throwing out his fist and hitting against the door urgently, hissing in pain but not letting up as his hand felt like it exploded.

“Barnes!” he yelled, then swore under his breath as he remembered the last part, and grabbed the knob, simply shoving it open and entering quickly, just as disheveled and panicked as he’d looked when he’d been running away from the other, earlier that week. “It’s Steve!”

[Phone call to Steve Goodman Harrington, made from a phone in the DSS offices]

It rings once. Twice. Three times, and Harry is about to give up but the he hears Steve's voice on the other end say Hello, and that's when he really does feel like chickening out and hanging up. Instead he takes a deep breath before continuing]

"Hey, it's me. Please don't hang up. I just want to chat."

[Phone message left on Loki's voice mail]

[Thor's voice is excited and jovial]

LOKI! You sly fox, you! YOU ESCAPED! I didn't even know, which is probably a good thing because the DSS came by to ask me a bunch of questions because, you know, you were talking about escaping earlier this week and you'd asked me to help you and stuff. Just surprised you didn't try this sooner. Hope you're doing alright. Call me?

I do not have a lot of money, contrary to previous history. The apartment/office I could afford was a tiny place off the pier in the run-downingest part of town (shush, that's a word now). But somehow... two normal sized futons fit in this living room. Without touching. I SWEAR that wasn't this much room. I MEASURED IT. How do you measure things wrong?

So...

How is everyone doing this week? Everyone more or less okay with their current situation? You know, just in case things don't reset at the end of the week provided things go according to plan?

(If you're not sure what I mean about "reset" I wouldn't worry about it.)

I know many of you were expecting to maybe go somewhere next week, but a lot of travel plans have been cancelled recently and it's hard to know what will happen a few days from now...

The night air was cool, crisp. Almost to the point it might have been a risk when he'd been younger, but Steve had spent a long time sorting through the medications that staved that kind of problem off.

Tonight he stood on a street curb, in a medium jacket, hands stuck firmly into his pockets like he was about to grab his gut. His eyes were distance focused as he stared at the chapel across the street for a long time, both pulled towards and wanting to run from the building.

Mostly he wondered if he was crazy or not. After a few flashbacks he couldn't quite place asking a similar question in a similar place, all of them being just a bit different. He sighed softly to himself as his head dropped and he declined the green light inviting him to cross the street.

"If You're there, and have an intention, you'd let me know. Better than you have, anyway, otherwise..." he spoke aloud and listened to himself, then chuckled softly as he mentally admonished himself. "Otherwise I'm just bitter, and I'd better invest my time in something else. Productive, I mean. That's how we're supposed to honor you anyway, right?" He sighed heavily and then lifted his head, tempted to flee before he was caught in he own thoughts enough to speak aloud again.

So I'm going to be in Empire City for four more days, counting today. I've already been or driven through a few other states on the east coast, so I think I'm going to head out on I-90 and go west, until I get to Big Sky, and then maybe all the way over to the coast.

Anything else I need to do or see before I head out? I have a couple more plays on my list, I've tried just about every hotdog this place has to offer, for some reason the best hotdog carts tend to be in Manhattan which I was not expecting.

Alright, hi everyone. As you've no doubt seen by now, some of us here in Empire City remember the previous Derleth resets and some of us don't - that definitely wasn't the intended effect, and none of us 'wrote' this universe; it already existed, and our research and work nudged us from the Void to it due to its temporal stability. The memory effect was, like I said, not a part of the calculations - I personally have enough trouble with my memories before Derleth, not to mention after with all the Derleth variants of myself (and the variants of ourselves all of us have met) that dealing with that again is never on the agenda. But Derleth's mechanics are quirky and we'll make the best of this.

If someone you're close to seems to only remember Derleth as a series of dreams - it's possible they could eventually fully remember? This admittedly isn't my area, so if anyone wants to chime in on how to help get that to settle for folks, I'm all ears. And also if someone could properly explain a TubeTube to me, I'd appreciate that also.

NEW DAGGER DESIGN DROPPED!!

I'm going to be honest, I miss having a lot of the materials I could only find from my own home world because a lot of them had magical abilities that you wouldn't find in this world... and also was easier for ME to forge there than here (someone who has no magic). But I can't say I'm not enjoying the general population's love for sharp things that don't have any thing extraordinary except for the sharpness of the blade and the design on the hilt.

I also get way more requests here for resin daggers that are not used for anything to stab but sit on the shelf and look pretty, which I guess... whatever rocks your boat! I make non-stabby knives too!

I dreamed about you last night. Very much a first for me.

Having a weird week already. Strange app appears on my phone, posts about suddenly having different magic, odd little comments about people not remembering things, guy I could have sworn I made up telling a completely mundane lie about getting patched up after a bike crash I definitely didn't attend. I've heard a lot of Louisiana juju but nothing that makes this make sense. Reincarnation, walk-ins, time travel. I'm pretty sure there's a tv show that combines all three.

So I'm thinking how about this time you tell me a story that's less plausible sounding and see how that goes.

The day had turned out alright, really. Steve had to admit that despite the crummy night of sleep and the whole mess around the coffee shop, he had managed to make it back to work and picked up right where he'd left off. The usual knots in the system were handled, the mail was taken and sent on schedule.

Not that he'd forgotten his reaction that morning. But going over and over it in his head as he'd fallen into routine, he wondered if he just was drifting too far into fictions because he wasn't focused on enough but work in his regular life. Maybe he really was getting boring.

Clutching the small paper bag from the grocer's with a fresh box of chamomile tea he stood in front of the rows of mailboxes for his apartment building, his own box open as he thumbed through a few of the letters. Two junk mail, two bills, but one special issue of motorcycle monthly and a newsletter from his favorite book club outlining their book schedule for the next month. He smiled, pleased at himself as he read through the titles. He wasn't boring enough to go crazy, surely. Maybe he just had to make some extra effort to socialize and engage his brain in reality.
