About the sword.

Vax and I had thrown some ideas around since it stuck with me, and so far nothing has really seemed to work. The week we were in Irkalla I just had it. That week it was easy to attune to it and that week, it very much felt like it belonged to me and that we were connected. I wasn't (fortunately) in a lot of places where I needed to use it, or do anything with it, but I think it has a fair amount of power.

Since I've come back, I've not been able to attune to it. It works really well as a sword, but I don't know if it's just that I'm not a half-elf (I was that week), or that I'm not magical, or if there's something else. Or maybe it only had those properties in Irkalla, but I don't think that's it.

Anyway, that week when we were all getting visions of like other lives, there was one where Vax and I were on a quest together - the sword was a family sword, it had been lost and I was looking to retrieve it and bring it back to my Father. I can add more about that, but it feels like it might be relevant.

NIGHT 6: Sylvie finally enchants one of the Void Monsters. (TW: EYES LOTS OF THEM)

Can she handle it?



The barrier between the Void and Outside was like a vacuum of time and space in which nothing could penetrate. It swallowed everything. Sylvie forgot about Yelena and the rest of Derleth for that split second. All she could hear and feel was her heartbeat and the sound of her own breath the moment she felt those green tendrils of magic slip through the void.

Then darkness.

Overwhelming and complete.

Sylvie was bent and tugged through herself, twisted like a knot until —

She was alone again in a vast world, populated by horrors. The stars were beautiful, but there was something so very wrong about them. Apocalyptic. The end of everything.

The language spoken was like listening to hieroglyphs of some unknown feral being, maybe not even sentient, except for the repetitive manner in which they chanted. Was it a spell?

So many eyes everywhere, and they were all watching her. Rising to the surface of their black slimed skin. Millions of them. Everywhere. Wanting to devour. The need to feast on anything in this place between time and space.

There was no time.

There was no space.

It was all an illusion meant to drive a person mad.

But they were here, she knew it. She was watching them through the eyes of some unknown monster. Were they the same? Were they all different? Odin's beard, help her. She was drowning in the space, and time was threatening to take her again. Lost in the dark with these non-linear beings who —

They knew she was there.

She let go, and inside the Void, she came back to her body, tripped over her feet, and curled into a ball. Those images would stay with her.

She just needed time. And space.

Once upon a time, I told an Egyptian goddess that I was going to be her avatar for a very temporary time because I had no interest in having super powers because I had other shit to do. Now, she's landed here with me and on weeks when our powers are not around at all, it's like I'm missing a walking crutch. I'm not entirely sure if that's a healthy feeling or not.

Movie Night on the Green

The night was a simple byproduct of Loki's mania. But the intentions were well-meaning! All of the recent parties and galas have literally either been plots to kill our poor, undeserving Derleth residents or lure them into some mind-altering catastrophe. It's about time there was just a normal little party, right? Except everyone seems to be pretty partied out. So Loki with the help of some friends—you know who you are—came up with Movie Night on the Green. The movie? Top Gun. Because half the campus has been singing the theme song all week. And by lucky coincidence, another Loki just happens to have that movie downloaded on his phone. Wonders never cease. So Loki and Loki (and maybe Loki?) hang up a sheet between two trees to use as a screen and prepare for what should be a calm night with friends.

I think there's a problem with the plumbing in the kitchen, or, actually, probably with me, because I'm trying to clean up the water on the floor and it's really not behaving like water should. So like there's an inch or two of water in here and I can't turn on the tap without it squirting everywhere and I have no idea how to control water on purpose. That's not... what I do.

In my world, when a woman is cut off from the Source, no longer able to channel, we call it being Stilled. An unpleasant fate. It's most often a result of drawing too much of the Power, and more rarely, a punishment. Every young woman known to have the ability is cautioned against it.

I don't believe what I experienced this past week was entirely similar. The sense of loss was not so great it could not be overcome. But it was no less unsettling for it.

I was told it would be possible, but are we often stripped of that which makes us ourselves?
