NO EXITS

At the risk of tempting Derleth's wrath (or sense of irony), I'd like to take this moment of down time to suggest something. It's come to my attention that there's a lot of people who don't know where to go when in need of various skills. Magical healers, doctors, wizards/magicians/sorcerers, people who can sew or cook, etc.

Basically, I'd like to organize those of you who would want to volunteer your skills to the other Derleth residents. You don't have to volunteer if you're not comfortable with people knowing what you can do, but for those of us who would, I'd like to give them a place.

Then maybe the Welcoming Committee could add this to their note, and we could add it as a pinned sort of post on the network so that it's there when you need it.

If you're interested, let me know what skills you're offering.

Everyone keeps talking about video games, and I've got my Switch Lite, but this is the era of the old stuff. Does anyone want to head out with me? We can get everything.

We should get at least three or four Atari's guys. This is all hands on deck and a team mission, right? We need an organized effort.

Looks like the worst of the ghosts here find me just as unnerving as the ones at home do. The friendlier ones are fine.

Dahj is gone. We were attacked on the way to the dining hall, and she saved Sharon and I but we were overwhelmed and she didn't make it. I'm sorry.

So in my world, ghosts are something we regularly go after. There's only two main ways to repel them, and considering we're in a pocket dimension I can't guarantee those'll hold up here, but they're worth a try.

Salt is the first. Any salt will do - they might not be able to cross lines of it, or a circle of it could protect you. If anyone has a shotgun, I recommending seeing about finding some rock salt to put in shells, those might help dispel any ghosts coming at you.

Iron is the second - weapons of pure iron, or things like iron pokers for a fireplace or iron tools. I have an iron knife that's worked for me in the past.

I'd like to start off by saying this is not me volunteering, but.

We have teenagers, people who have limited experience with their powers, perhaps a few people interested in continuing an education they never received on their own worlds.

Who's interested in teaching something? Anything. I don't care. It could be self-defense, art, accounting, whatever it is you think might be a useful skill to impart.

I'm already working with someone helping them explore their abilities and I'd be willing to continue helping others in that arena, so who else wants to teach so it's not just me when we get back to campus?

Assuming we're not being chased by zombies or whatever.

Is there anyone here who likes to jog or run? I used to have running partners in my prior community and I'd like to get back on that. It was always more enjoyable having company.

Or, alternatively, are there any who were adept with swordsmanship of some kind? My main partner isn't present and I'd really like to have someone to occasionally practice against. Though...we might need to find weapons that are compatible. My saber wouldn't be able to be used unless against another saber or a weapon made of beskar. Otherwise it would most likely ruin the opposing weapon and would put an end to any actual practice.

I know where we are this week.

This is Fillory. There is a lot I could tell you or warn you about but we're only here for a week. Long story short this place has our best shot of breaking out of Derleth and getting us back home.

There are seven magical questing creatures. We just need to find one. All of them are a little different, and have different MOs.

Our top choice is The White Lady, AKA The Winter's Doe. She and her brother, The Great Cock, live in the Darkling Woods. The Great Cock might also be able to help but his thing is to give quests. Beggars can't be choosers but The White Lady is going to be the better bet for granting straight up wishes.

A note about the Darkling Woods. I plan on taking a route through the Flying Forest. That route is not for everyone. The trees there give off spores or something? Point is, it will get you high af. There are other less direct routes that will also get you there.

We should split up into teams. Please discuss. Ask me anything.
