NO EXITS

In case any of you were worried about staying and being the last one left, don't be. I won't be leaving. Derleth has become a home to me. A home I never expected to have. I could probably try to figure out a way to join some of you in your realms, but, to be honest, I kind of like it here. I even like the traveling, to some extent. Although if we could figure out a way to tone that down to a few months out of the year that would be easier.

So, I'm not going anywhere. And if any of you want to stay but have been afraid to speak up about it, you can be rest assured that you won't be left alone. This is my final destination. Pretty sure I knew it always was. Granted, I can't promise I'll be the best neighbor. You all know me well enough by now. But I will look out for this place as best I can. And I'll look out for the people who decide to stay in it.

But I am taking the best bedroom as soon as the majority of the others are gone, so don't even try to fight me on that.

When somebody wants to say an activity can't be that difficult, they compare it to brain surgery. "It's not brain surgery".

Well, I am a brain surgeon. Alright, I know... formerly, but the skillset is still there. The best in my field. So that ought to mean everything else should come easy to me.

In other words, some times if you want a red velvet cake, you got to make it yourself.

Personal problem first: Is anyone else extremely hot this week? I know there's a hot tub, but is there an ice pool?

General Timeline Gathering Second: For those of you who are able to see things in the void, would you mind coming by the lab and telling me what you've seen thus far this week. I'd like to make notes of this as I am assuming next time we're in the void, they may not be visible - but if they are, or become more widely visible, we'll have some idea of what we're dealing with.

I don't have a tempad, but I did find this nifty twenty-first century smart phone in my pocket. So that's something.

You should all know that Loki was killed this evening in a shootout at the Mariposa. Four men in black hats came in. One was killed, the other three were arrested.

Well, I've always enjoyed buying incredibly expensive art, so I'm not mad about working for a museum, I guess.

Since I've already been banged and married a couple of times I should probably introduce myself properly. I'm Melissa. Songbird is the name I use at work and I come from a town in Wyoming you've definitely never heard of. When I was still pretty young I volunteered for an experimental procedure that was attempting to give people super powers and it affected my vocal cords so I can convert sound into hard light to make shields, wings, weapons, basically anything I can think of. I've been on a bunch of teams including our version of the Avengers for a little bit, but mostly the Thunderbolts. I also have half a degree double majoring in criminology and music.

As Natasha and Eliot have both mentioned, Mobius was heading up the work to try to create a stable place for our Derleth, and fortunately he made certain that we had duplicates of all of his work. I've met with some of you already this week, but I know several others have expressed interest in helping, and it seemed prudent to set out goals:

• DATA RESEARCH. We have data collected. This includes items that have arrived from our home timelines, the timelines that we've visited with Derleth, and in some cases our own mental & temporal energies. We're looking for connections and clues, answers that may help magic and science with what they're doing. If you are good with sorting and finding patterns, this is the place for you.

We have some information about that device, but we need to figure out new ways to take readings and collect data. I'll be working in the Lab pretty much every day this week, so if we haven't yet talked in person, let's do that.

I want to rethink Mobius's work.

Before, he went through data attempting to find a timeline we could anchor ourselves to. It limited when we could attempt the jump and I think may have been why we still reset. That's not mentioning the issues a majority of us had remembering who we were.

I say we make our own timeline. We still have all the research necessary, but I was looking at the metamath, and I think this could be much more feasible without the drawbacks of attempt number one.

So if those of you who worked with Mobius are willing to work with me on this, let me know.

As a rule I'm not overly fond of camping. I enjoy it even less when someone forgets to pack the food and we accidentally end up in the middle of cannibal country. Let's not do that again.

The team who've been working to stabilise things, have they also been keeping detailed records about the worlds we've visited?

Okay, so Loki and I took a jog around campus this morning. Everything seems to be normal void behavior at the moment. Nothing's overly large, we both have our memories, and the magical sky the other Loki made is still out. Somehow even more serene. Kitchens are stocked as usual (even has some of the fresh veg and fruits we snagged in Los Angeles, it seems), the pool's back to the way Strange made it, and the Green is full of its interesting creatures. And the squirrels.

All in all, it's pretty nice out after the last two weeks.

Now, that's not to say that something won't happen. We all know that things have happened at various points during void weeks, so just be aware that it's possible something will happen. At this point, it's almost a guarantee.

I'd like to propose something. Some of us have been in Derleth a long time in Derleth standards. I think it's time we take Strange's idea and expand on it. Keyleth's help last week with growing the vegetables and fruit for the survivors made me think this is something we should do here. I'm going to be taking out some trees and planting some various seeds. Keyleth, I was hoping you'd be interested in helping me test to see if it'll stick around after the next reset. If it does, we can expand the area a bit for a variety of things.

On the subject of Mobius's disappearance: You all know that Mobius and Eliot were working on a way to get a stable place for us. Mobius has disappeared, but his work is still here. Anyone with science knowledge would be helpful in looking over his notes and seeing what we can do to keep that going. Stability is something we take for granted, so I'd like to get back on track with that.

And finally, I'd like to work on the campus a bit. Maybe do some repairs on buildings, like the Greenhouse. The windows are busted there, and I'd like to keep the orchids and elf weed there. Whatever needs a hot house. I'm not really a plant expert, so if you have any experience, I'd love a few volunteers.

And thirdly, if this is your first time at the "real" Derleth, welcome home.

Can someone help, please? There's a group that went to check out a mall and they're going to run into zombies, but I can't reach them, none of them are responding but I still see them on the screens. They're fine for now, but they won't be.

Exploring northeast I found decent enough sized stream near what was probably a high school. It took me around an hour to walk there - might take less time under different circumstances, but there's a lot between here and there.

I can't guarantee cleanliness at this point, but if we could start fires, we could boil it.

If there's a group that's willing to come out with me, let's make that today's priority. Also, any ideas on transport - I'm open to hearing them.

I’m not really in a place where I can talk right now. Emotionally, that is. Not like I’m surrounded by a horde of zombies or anything. Not anymore at least. But if you need someone’s ear … Just, I’ll be around. Not that you need to talk to me. There are probably better people to talk to. Scratch that. There are definitely better people. But I can listen. If you want me to.

Right now it seems like the campus is safe enough and I think it's better for all of us if we keep it that way, so I want to organize patrols to keep the perimeter as secure as we can. With at least some watches through the night to keep us from being surprised until we know exactly how bad the whole zombie situation is and if anything else is waiting to see if we're really bad at this. I know we'll have people out scouting for food and water, but if everybody goes out at once and comes back to find we have a big problem then it's sort of useless.

Let me know here if you want to sign up. I want to set up at least pairs and keep the turns as short as I can so nobody gets too tired and misses something, but I guess it depends on how many people want to help. We can work out weapons when we know who has them and who doesn't, and if you have special training in stealth and survival things then tell me that too. Night time is going to get interesting with no lights and I don't want to send anybody out who doesn't know what they're doing. And no lying - it doesn't hurt me right away if you lie, but it could probably kill you, so. Don't do that.

Since it's definitely been noticed, I'm going to go ahead and go out and search for food as well. The dormitories, I think look stable enough, I've seen ruins in the worst shape but if you feel more comfortable camping outside, I'd say let's work on getting those shelters set up. I'll see what supplies I can find while I'm out.

Anyone's welcome to join me. How are we on medical supplies? If there are herbs and plants that I recognize, I'll bring some back with me.
