NO EXITS

Oh, this is interesting. Apparently, I'm alive this week. I mean, alive alive. I don't know what to do with such a rapid heartbeat. And my skin is so warm and dry! You know what, I don't like this. It's a little too weird for me. Do I really have to wait the whole week to go back to normal? Maybe if I just died again, that would fix it.

Okay, someone tell me: what did I miss?

Fine. It's not a stupid fucking prank, or worse, an escape room.

How do I know this isn't all in my head? Like a fever dream or a coma?

On the medical front, while we're talking about weird things. We've discovered that the patients here, aren't really sick. The local Doctors and staff are assuring us their patients are sick, we check the charts, and everything lines up.

That is until we run tests ourselves, no one here is actually sick and we've discovered that they are being given placebos and sugar pills.

What do you all think about getting together sometime this week for dinner?

Steven's gone, I think I'm cured. He's been a part of my life since I was a kid, it's weird not having him around. My thoughts are quiet.

Khonshu's gone, too. And I have some sort of administrative job at City Hall. I finally have a regular life.

So if anyone has some aggression they'd like to get out in a way that won't alert the authorities, I... apparently work at a place where you can eat, drink, and throw axes? Come on by, say hello, I could probably sneak you some free food. We're apparently open late if you've found yourself somewhere you're not dying to go back to at night. Just don't bring your own sharp things until I've got a better feel for the place?

Doing all right? Figured I'd check on you after last week. And make sure you haven't ended up anywhere intolerable this week, that seems like it's hit or miss for everyone.

Inspired by Margo's FMK, some of us were tossing out the idea of Derleth bingo - a list of things/challenges to do here. If anyone wants to help us come up with a list, we're meeting at lunch tomorrow. (Or drop your suggestions below)


Also, we've got a few more days here and since we don't know what next week will bring, I thought I'd take requests for meals. (And let you know what I have planned so far.)

Day 5 dinner: Chili bar - meat and vegetarian options available.
Day 6 dinner: ratatouille & lasagna
Day 7 ?

I was thinking maybe an omelette bar for breakfast one of these days? I'd do waffles, but I haven't found a waffle iron yet. Could also do pancakes again. Or crepes.

Well, this is the first week I've experienced here in which something wasn't absolutely fucking weird by the end of the day two (and since it's past day three, I feel confident in saying that and not jinxing it), and I guess I've had moments to reflect on this whole experience and realize it's not all a fever dream from agreeing to a deal with a Goddess. (You know.. the whole can-my-body-handle-this-much-power-or-am-I-dying etc.) Besides, the fairy party introductions spilled a whole lot, didn't they?

So I'm just going to go ahead and reintroduce myself because even if it was like 3-4 weeks ago that I just showed up, it feels like I'm still super new to this place. I'm Layla El-Faouly. I'm an archeologist. My favorite part of it was the research but also stealing back artifacts from people who think they're finders keepers. I'm also an Avatar of Taweret, the aforementioned Goddess, who gives me the ability to fly and some other superhuman abilities. It was supposed to be a temporary alliance but I think I've gotten used to her being around that last week when the powers weren't working, it felt like I lost something terribly valuable. And now I'm sitting here processing that feeling. Thank you, Derleth, for this moment of quiet introspection!

I can't be the only one wanting a little excitement of the non-murderous kind. So let's play

This is all very exciting, but I do wonder what happened to my friends. Surely Imogen at least has to be here as well. Has anyone seen a strong, beautiful, talented woman with purple hair? Well, I suppose it's more like purple stubble right now which is also very lovely and suits her and makes her look tough.

She is very capable and can take care of herself. But also, if anything has happened to her, I will gauge out the eyes of anyone who has laid a finger on her.

Welcome to Derleth.

I am so sorry I could not be there to greet you myself, but I trust you'll find your way around soon enough. Most of the students have not yet arrived for the new semester and so I've arranged for [your?] lodging on campus. You'll find a key in your pocket. Just like old times, eh?

Should the experiment go as planned, for one week we will be able to displace time and space itself. I believe with my calculations we will be able to control the effects and no one shall be the wiser. To anyone not directly involved it will be imperceptible.

Feel free to wander the campus in the meantime. We'll begin the experiment at [muffled] Hall, on Thursday, precisely at midnight.
