NO EXITS

There has to be a way to be more useful around here. I feel as if I have no purpose other than existing, and I don't like that.

In my world, when a woman is cut off from the Source, no longer able to channel, we call it being Stilled. An unpleasant fate. It's most often a result of drawing too much of the Power, and more rarely, a punishment. Every young woman known to have the ability is cautioned against it.

I don't believe what I experienced this past week was entirely similar. The sense of loss was not so great it could not be overcome. But it was no less unsettling for it.

I was told it would be possible, but are we often stripped of that which makes us ourselves?

So Derleth decided, I suppose, that from another life I had, I really need my tall staff from the time I was shaped partially like a dragon.

Which is weird and somewhat exciting until I decided to see if it still had powers in it.

It doesn't. It's... just a staff. I suppose the only use I have for it is if I need to bonk someone on the head. Seems sturdy enough.

I've been staring at this movie poster in my living room this entire week and it just occurred to me that the sword my character, Leoren Silverwatcher, carries is my moonblade from Irkalla.

Also I found our costumes from Much Ado at a thrift store of all places. So I guess if we're trying to figure out if things from Derleth are here, that stuff is.

I refuse to go on the Internet before coffee. Please tell me they've moved on to something else and that no one has tried to yell at you for dating a married woman because they thought you were me?

So something new started yesterday and came up again today, a little more obviously.

Back on the normal campus there was this... presence, sometimes I'd run into it in the early morning hours when I was headed down to the kitchens. And it's... back. Now. In my apartment, though, instead of Butler Hall. A little on the territorial side, too.

I'm thinking about skipping staying at my place till the last night, in any case. Just thought I should let people know in case they're trying to track down the university.

If you haven't wandered through City Park, you might not have seen the carousel there that I own and run. The detail is amazing from an artistic/craftsman point of view. Although one of the horses is broken, the rest are in great condition and it goes fairly fast. Also, it's got the traditional brass/iron ring game which is harder than it seems, but still fun. If you're looking for a way to spend an afternoon, feel free to come on by. There might also be snacks.


Speaking of food, the cast party after the play last week seemed like a good time and since this week has alternating levels of weird and creepy, maybe a party at week's end wouldn't be a bad idea? I'm happy to help with food - as I'm sure others are - if other folks will take care of games and music.

Indeed, it would seem the doorway has transported me to another realm, but far from where it should. I could almost think this city some remnant of the Age of Legends but for the buildings. Their design bears no mark of the One Power.

I am so sorry I could not be there to greet you myself, but I trust you'll find your way around soon enough. Most of the students have not yet arrived for the new semester and so I've arranged for [your?] lodging on campus. You'll find a key in your pocket. Just like old times, eh?

Should the experiment go as planned, for one week we will be able to displace time and space itself. I believe with my calculations we will be able to control the effects and no one shall be the wiser. To anyone not directly involved it will be imperceptible.
