WEEK FOURTEEN
FILLORY (THE MAGICIANS)

An artist's rendition of Fillory, Castle Whitespire and the rainbow bridge.
Credit: Dave Macleod.
Castle Whitespire. Those little diamondy things float and twirl atop the spires and catch light in a really beautiful way. Click here to see the interior throne room.
The Clockwork Trees. There are a number of trees in Fillory with clocks in them. It’s very curious.
The Winter’s Doe of the Darkling Wood, one of seven magical questing creatures. She is very over your shit.
The Darkling Woods. There are a few paths into the woods, but at least two questing creatures have been known to live here.
Flying Forest. One of the possible trails into the Darkling Woods. Unfortunately the trees release spores that will get you high af. This path may or may not be the best choice for you.
The One Way Forest. Divides the kingdoms of Fillory and Loria. These are sentient, talking trees. Also they really don't like Fillory at all. It's a one way forest. As in you're not getting into Loria this way.
The Cock Barrens. A desert area that also divides the kingdom of Fillory with the neighboring kingdom of Loria. Think like the national parks of Utah with their interesting rock formations, but phallic.
A centaur physician. They’re set up in elaborate tents and practice powerful healing magics.
The Pickwicks. They’re the family that manages Fillory when there are no Children of Earth to rule it. They may or may not be slightly bitter about that.
A local tavern which caters to Talking Animal clientele. Unlike Narnia, Talking Animals in Fillory look indistinguishable from normal animals.
The Rainbow Bridge. A massive suspension bridge that’s just a way to get a beautiful view of the lands of Fillory.
The royal carriage, drawn by two talking horses. They will ONLY transport the royals of Fillory and they’re rude af.
A very crude map of Fillory.
CODING

You know the drill. At the end of seven days, at precisely 1:32 AM, the campus once more resets. Everyone trapped in the experiment falls unconscious (if not sleeping already) only to wake up sometime afterward in their assigned bed, in their assigned room, in their assigned dorm. The confusion of last week is over and everyone arrives in their original, expected condition, wearing the precise clothing they arrived in.

There’s something different about the air here. Like you’ve arrived in a beautiful and magical place. A place that would make even Hogwarts seem mundane and ordinary. A place full of wonder and beauty. And you’re partially right. This is Fillory-- a tiny world that is the source of all magic for hundreds of thousands of other worlds.

And just to make things more exciting? A royal delegation from Fillory has come to meet the campus. You see, there’s a slight quirk about Fillory. It can only be ruled by “Children of Earth.” So, four of you are going to end up royalty for week! Hurray?

THE CORONATION
meet the new kings and queens of fillory
CODE BY

There's a strange rule in Fillory declared by its gods, Ember and Umber, that only children of Earth may rule Fillory as kings and queens. Between the reigns of outlander monarchs, the Pickwick family stand in as regent. The first day in Fillory, the campus is met very early in the morning by a royal delegation so that they may select their new High King, who will then select their own three fellow monarchs to co-rule with them.

No, they don't care that you'll only be here a week. Thems the rules.

Take a look at the comments below to react to the delegation, their selection process, see who is crowned high king, watch who they pick to rule with them, and enjoy the coronation party afterward! You can have characters react to what's happening but as an RP line developing tip, I strongly recommend a 50/50 split between comments where you are the first to react, and comments where you reply to other characters' reactions!

Have fun! See my essay on IC/OOC events here.

[This message is sent during the coronation event. See comment subjects for content warnings.]

I know where we are this week.

This is Fillory. There is a lot I could tell you or warn you about but we're only here for a week. Long story short this place has our best shot of breaking out of Derleth and getting us back home.

There are seven magical questing creatures. We just need to find one. All of them are a little different, and have different MOs.

Our top choice is The White Lady, AKA The Winter's Doe. She and her brother, The Great Cock, live in the Darkling Woods. The Great Cock might also be able to help but his thing is to give quests. Beggars can't be choosers but The White Lady is going to be the better bet for granting straight up wishes.

A note about the Darkling Woods. I plan on taking a route through the Flying Forest. That route is not for everyone. The trees there give off spores or something? Point is, it will get you high af. There are other less direct routes that will also get you there.

We should split up into teams. Please discuss. Ask me anything.

[FILTER: MARGO]
If we keep our heads down and you hide your banishment marks, we should be fine.

[FILTER: DANNY]
You wake up okay this morning? I need to go on this quest, but I want to make sure you're taken care of for the week.
