[ Camera on, and Lelouch offers the prison at large a more opaque smile than even his usual. After a fair amount of internal debate, he decided to... go ahead and do this. ]

It would appear our gracious 'wardens' have misplaced another of us. If you were acquainted with C.C., [ pronounced See-Two, ] well, someone probably owes you an apology for her general behavior, but you'll know peace now.

[ Two things of note: that he's by no means offering said apology, and that his eyes might be a little glassy. But he blinks them clear, and adds mildly, ]

Since it seems to be the done thing around here.

[Kitty waits until the team gathers into the Defense Force headquarters. Once upon a time this team was big enough that having a meeting inside would have been uncomfortable. That hasn't been true for awhile. She loudly taps a pen against a desk a few times to get everyone's attention before she starts.]

You were probably hoping I scheduled this surprise meeting so I could deliver a long speech at you, and your hopes are being fulfilled. [A pause as she once again considers not moving forward with this.] I have been thinking about the Defense Force and where it started and how it's changed and the direction it could or maybe even should move in for awhile now. We're a smaller team than we once were and I've been wanting to refocus our efforts more on the investigation side of things, but our numbers don't reflect that. I think a lot of us are here because we do something similar back home. We protect. We fight. We have a team to support us. We wanted that here too, but I'm not sure the needs of this prison support that now. I'm not sure they ever did. I'm not saying we haven't had successes. We have. I'm proud of what we built and what we've accomplished even if it's surprising how completely unpopular a team for saving lives and getting people home is. [She's taken the brunt of that message too. Complaints and criticisms from what they did to stop Spike from attacking people to just not getting everyone home within a few months time against impossible odds.]

I think it's time for a fresh take on this idea. And the thing is... It's not going to be with me. [Just looking out at everyone.] I don't think leading a team is what I should be doing right now. It's meant a lot to me. It's been the only thing that got me through some hard times. But it's not here for that.

I've talked to Jack and he's not going to be moving into the role either, so where this leaves us is kind of up to all of you. And before anyone volunteers I just want to say take some time to think about it. Think about whether you have a direction and a passion for it. Also, it won't be my call to make what happens next, so you'll just have to see if others will follow if you want to lead. Which means, for the moment, there is no Defense Force.

[And with that her speech is over. Time to see what comes next.]

Suzaku's wakes up far more gently than usual. It's his usual time, he knows, but something's not right. He's very comfortable, and very warm. Comfortable enough that for a long moment, he doesn't even open his eyes, just makes a small sound of pleasure.

It feels good.

[ Housemates will find Lelouch at the kitchen table, with an empty woven basket and a notepad. He has the latest of half a dozen lists on it. Ideas about what a welcome basket should contain.

Naturally he also made breakfast, so help yourself. ]

[ There is Suzaku. There is Suzaku with his eyes as though carved from stone.

He opens his mouth to say that Euphie is no longer in the Dome, which means that she is gone back to her death and what comes out? ]

[ ... Two bright blotches appear on Suzaku's cheeks because WHAT IS THIS EVEN and how can any of it be said to be for good, and he cuts the transmission. ]

[Nico looks like hell - though it might be hard to tell. He's got all the lights off on his end. Someone with good night vision might be able to see that his eyes are red and glassy. His voice, though, is raw and scratched, and he's going to make this quick.]

Yuuri's gone. He'd been here a long time, and I know he has a lot of friends here, s-so I wanted to let everyone know...

[That's it. That's all he can get through before his throat closes up and his eyes well up again. He cuts off the feed.]

[ And it was going so well.

He shared an apartment with them for several days, a room with Euphie for some of that, and keeping that -- particular -- area of his chest hidden wasn't terribly difficult. He's always been on the modest side. Pajamas to bed, typical enough; avoiding the pool and the ocean, perfectly in keeping with his preferences to minimize any form of physical activity; shirt on through the heatwave... he was hardly the only one.

But Botani has been relentlessly, coercively relaxing. Everything here is so simple and easy. Doing what makes you most comfortable is so... simple and easy.

And he is soaked through from a mishap at the lagoon, which is not comfortable, so Lelouch's first impulse is to fix that, even though far from being in a locked room (or bathroom, or once Euphie's closet), he's currently outdoors where anyone could see him...

...he's going to pull his shirt up over his head, exposing a truly nasty-looking scar on his chest. ]


((ooc: if your character is the type to recognize these things, it's a pretty new scar, and he got it from being stabbed between his ribs and through his heart with near-surgical precision!))

[Euphie is loving their new location even if she wishes the wardens had communicated better about the situation. But there they are and it seems that everyone is safe and this dome is even more beautiful than the one they left. She smiles over at Lelouch and Suzaku, happy to have them in one room.]

What are your plans for today? [She asks as she lightly touches the necklace that seemed to arrive with her even though she'd never seen it before.]

[ "The rest of your natural life." C.C. wonders how long the technology in this prison was designed to last. The "lush and abundant setting" she wakes up to fills her with a profound sense of unhappiness -- an eternity in a single place isn't what she expected when she made her most recent choices. Will she still be able to find the World of C? Is she going to go back to being all alone, just when she learned the value of not being so?

She's still laying on her back in the middle of what looks like a park, pushing buttons on her communicator to see what it does. Finally, she manages the settings for a video message.

A bored-looking young woman with amber-colored eyes and bright green hair is asking a very important question, fellow prisoners: ]

[Kitty has been keeping to herself since the shared dreaming. That still ended in a surprising amount of running into people, but today she's falling into her regular routine again—exercising which can become sparring if someone has a mind to join her, looking into things at Defense Force headquarters, planning some lessons for the technology classes she teaches which she'll go head and take care of in the library, some meaningful shopping of essentials and some idle shopping of random stuff because sometimes you need a baseball cap with an octopus on it? And of course, she's got to eat!]

[This three-bedroom apartment in Sector 4 has passed through many hands already and it might be getting more crowded now. Too crowded?]

[ After searching the entire dome for Subaru, signs of Subaru, signs of Seishirou, and signs of Fuuma -- and finding none of them -- Kamui gave up temporarily and found somewhere to live.

Today, he grudgingly ventures out for things which will be useful. He can be found looking for clothes in the Row, since he's still wearing his orange jumpsuit. Or maybe he's in the Pet Cafe, collecting his cat (little grey girl with big green eyes).

Much later, he's lurking near the Defense Force, appearing as though he's looking for someone.

And finally, since there's blood freely available, no one will mind if he takes the Convenience Store's complete supply, right? Right. He has a few nice, big bags. ]

Um... [Look at this sheepish face, Marina!]

I guess I've been here a year today. I'm the first anniversary. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Should I do something? Do I need balloons?

[If nothing else, be impressed with his mathing skills that he was able to figure out today is his one-year anniversary in the prison.]

[Although he's very newly arrived, Sai is already out of that jumper and in a more comfortable outfit of an over-sized hoody and jeans. He appears fairly calm, too. Maybe even pleased, as he greets anyone watching with a partially sleeve-covered wave of his hand and a grin.]

Hi~ This really is some place, huh? It's hard to believe it's some kind of prison!

[He lets out a laugh. His list of crimes was very extensive, and he has no reason or desire to deny or atone for any of them.]

I can't say I expected to ever open my eyes again- [actually, he was at peace and accepting that he was about to die.] but I don't mind entertaining myself here for a while.

—Ah! Speaking of. I wouldn't mind some suggestions of what there is to do, here. Hmm. . .I especially like [violence and fighting and murder!] eating and generally anything that's really active and hands-on.

Suzaku, don't hurt my brother. [Firmly. It's an order if he needs it to be one. She doesn't even know if he'll check it before she finds him. She just hopes.]
