[action] Day 376 - Open
[ After searching the entire dome for Subaru, signs of Subaru, signs of Seishirou, and signs of Fuuma -- and finding none of them -- Kamui gave up temporarily and found somewhere to live.

Today, he grudgingly ventures out for things which will be useful. He can be found looking for clothes in the Row, since he's still wearing his orange jumpsuit. Or maybe he's in the Pet Cafe, collecting his cat (little grey girl with big green eyes).

Much later, he's lurking near the Defense Force, appearing as though he's looking for someone.

And finally, since there's blood freely available, no one will mind if he takes the Convenience Store's complete supply, right? Right. He has a few nice, big bags. ]

[ Suzaku's just finished a training session, and is about to go out on patrol, so he is actually for a little bit... around. When Kamui comes in, he looks up from where he has been reading, and smiles, if only a little. ]

Suzaku doesn't even blink at that, anymore, and doesn't make things worse, or harder, by sighing. Just ducks his head a little, his voice is steady and warm. ]

I am sorry - I don't remember my time in this - or the previous, I guess - prison before now. [ But he does know about the situation, and so he's not going to make it harder by making anyone having to explain it to him. ] Are you all right?

[ Since people have returned in... less than perfect shape, once and again. ]

[ The warning does help by keeping Kamui from figuring it out himself. But his chest still hurts, nonetheless. And there's a sort of lost look on his face for a moment. ]

[ Okay, but. Even after dealing with Lelouch's arrival, he's not numb enough to help seeing how upset Kamui is. He's seen something like that in other faces before today, of course, but - possibly he's just a little too sensitive, just now.

He smiles a little, or tries to. ]

It is nice to meet you, Kamui. [ He means it. And, after a moment. ] I have a little time before patrol... would you like to tell me what it was like, with you and me, before?

[ If it'll make this easier for you, he doesn't add. He's pretty sure he doesn't have to. ]

[ Most of the time, these days, he can give information about that fight. And its consequences. He sounds calm and steady, almost toneless. But right now, thinking about them all, he can't reach that place in his mind which can get the words out.

He made it clear it was his fault, right? Right? He should look up to make sure Kamui remembers that. Okay, he can manage that. (Even if his eyes are haunted.) ]

[ A little fussed the human can't/won't tell him at the moment, but puts it aside. But the "I did something horrible" statement doesn't really seem to affect him. It was before Suzaku came to the prison, it wasn't to anyone he knows, so.... he doesn't see a reason to care too much? ]

How long until you go on patrol?

Oh! [ Even if aware that the brother might not be there, Suzaku's smile is unfeigned, and yes, he can hear that. The conversation is more interesting for the moment, though. ] That must have been really interesting.

I can see how any time spent here would seem too long.

[ While Suzaku himself doesn't quite see it that way. He does deserve punishment, far worse than this place gives, and not being allowed back home has its benefits. Not to mention that he gets to spend more time with Euphie, which is no small bonus anywhere.

Even if Lelouch is here, now, it's still...

It's better than home. ]

Oh. [ Suzaku's eyes widen, then he looks down, reaching one hand to squeeze the other boy's shoulder, unfazed by the anger. ] I am sorry, Kamui. I hope if they bring him back again, they won't take him away from you anymore.

[ Beat. ]

Machine? Do you mean the Wardens and the Dome, or something back at home?

[ T, takes a little comfort from that. Much is different about this Suzaku, but much is also the same, at heart. ]

The wardens. The computers which run this place. Who take the people important to you, as well, and return them altered, or not at all. [ He remembers some of that, though not their names, or really anything about them other than their fluctuations had upset Suzaku. ]

For now, they have returned to me someone lost forever, and I seem to be the one - I suppose altered would be close enough, to somebody else. I think it is easier for me to deal with it, when I have no expectations.

[Keeping busy is the one thing that's truly kept Yuuki from breaking down. It's easier this way-- it gives purpose, and she doesn't have time to stop and linger on things that might otherwise be too overwhelming for her.

Right now, however, can be considered more of a break if nothing else. In contrast to the blood bags he has in hand, she rounds a corner, attempting to carry a number of candy bars in hand. When she rounds a corner and spots Kamui just up ahead, she freezes in embarrassment]

Aha... [Can she... hide the amount of candy bars she's decided to take with her behind her back?] Kamui-san. H-Hello again.

[ Kamui had sensed her as she came in, and spent the time until she spotted him torn between continuing his errand, or going to intercept her.

She doesn't know him, and he's already said he won't trust her. The effort to re-establish even a shadow of their previous friendship seems pointless -- it had taken so much time on his part.

But now it seems there are no friends left. Kamui offers her a blood pack from one of his bags. ]

[To be honest, she hadn't expected him to approach. When he moved forward her eyes widened a touch, lips parting to ask if something is wrong until he holds out one of the bags to her. A touch surprised, her eyes shift down to stare at the bag before they lift tentatively up to him.]

For me?

[She had... gotten the impression, before, that he hadn't wanted much to do with her. But this-- she feels her eyes naturally soften after a moment. Reaching out she takes the blood pack and can't help the way that her eyes soften. She doesn't typically drink the blood here. But it would be rude to reject it, and there is certainly more than one vampire living under her roof.

What's more, she appreciates his gesture.]

Thank you. I was only thinking about sweet treats, but neglecting the important parts, huh.

[Situating her purse, she deposits everything inside. It's much easier to carry this way.]

Do you need any help carrying anything? [She pats the purse danging to about her waist.] I have two hands thanks to this, so if you have anything else to get I can help walk it home with you.

Well, to be honest, if she's drinking real blood like a normal vampire, so much the better. ]

I'm sorry. [Sincerely.] Me neither. [If she's honest. While she doesn't remember... their time spent together, she has been here before, and disappeared, and has now recently returned again. And this time... the experience has been a lot more painful... more difficult than her original arrival.]

None of it is right.

Fingers curling in toward her palms she swallows thickly. Once more she's forgotten someone... and hurt them because of it. She hates that. But this time... at least with him, something prompts her to speak.]

I mean-- [ . . . ] I've never brought it up to anyone else before. But with Kamui-san... [It should be fine, right? He doesn't have to if he doesn't like it, She's just no good suggesting this kind of thing. Even if for a vampire it shouldn't be inappropriate.

In the end, it's still invasive, though. She trails off before starting over again.]

I can see a person's memories through their blood. If I drink it... those memories can transfer over to me, too.

[Her attention turns forward as he opens the door and she steps inside.

. . . And then suddenly there is a kitty rubbing up against her leg, and she kneels down, smiling. Ah-! She loves animals. Letting the kitty sniff her fingers, she reaches out to scratch her behind the ears. She nods, however, when Kamui speaks.]

Blood sharing can be incredibly personal back home. Memories and emotions can be transferred over. It's... [One of the reasons why she shies away from drinking something that isn't immediately known to her.] It isn't at all taboo to drink blood- even a strangers if everyone consented, but because of that aspect someone might feel guarded about it too.

[Which is probably why people consider the blood of their lover the most delicious.]

Of course it wouldn't transfer everything. Memories expressed through blood can only be shown through one point if view. [It would be witnessed through his point of view, not her own... so any of the thoughts she held regarding him that might have taken place while separated still wouldn't be present.]

Also- while I would only seek out the memories that involve myself, I can't promise that I wouldn't see anything else. [Especially if he has something else on his mind mixed into the fray.]

[ May is the happiest kitten, she tries to climb up onto Yuuki's leg. She remembers this person.

Kamui watches them and thinks about the explanation. It's wouldn't be the same; she would only know his perspective, she wouldn't really remember her own thoughts. And she could be privy to any number of things he's never shared with anyone -- not just memories but the feelings which accompanied them.

But he's incredibly tempted. It would be something. It would help her know who he is again. Maybe make it easier to be his friend again. ]

You would be all right only knowing what I thought of you?

In the end, because it's me, I think based off of whatever I see, my own thoughts would probably echo what I felt at the time.

[With a faint smile she nods before putting the kitten down. She's... relieved, actually. There are so few people she is able to do something like this with. And Kamui... he wants her to remember.

Not remembering triggers so many emotional responses, that she's all too happy to jump at a chance to once more consume what she's forgotten.]

Thank you, Kamui-san... [Her brows knit] I've... always been upset about not remembering the past here. Even if it's just a portion of that time, I'll- I'll be really happy. [Glancing up at him once more, her features soften.]

We should find somewhere comfortable though. Depending on how many memories there are, it...I wouldn't want you to become dizzy from any blood loss. And when we're done, you can drink a little bit of mine to recover.
