[After everything that was stirred up with the emotions pheromones, Buffy has been a little quiet, a little thoughtful. That day gave her a lot to think about. She heads to Merlotte's to work an afternoon shift, which she does with the same sort of quiet, almost distracted attitude. She's not unhappy, not in the least. In fact, she's fairly sure she's on the brink of happy and that scares her. Happiness isn't a concept that Buffy has had a lot of experience with, at least not where relationships were concerned.

Later that evening she can be found checking into the defense force headquarters, patrolling sector five and wandering over toward the graveyard to sit down on a head stone.

It's a thinking place, okay?

Come bother her in any and every location.]

--cannot simply enjoy your own toy? [The picture first opens up choppily and blurred as it moves around and the sound of bells chiming very close by. It takes a few seconds for it to be clear that there are green fields and luscious plants in bloom around. Someone is near the gardens in the park. And they are laughing.

A meow is loud as if the cat is crying out right near the microphone of the communicator. Because it is. The bells keep ringing.]

Just because it has bells doesn't mean it is for you to play with. [The picture is jerked about again, the communicator landing on the ground looking up from an angle. Suddenly, a black shadow tumbles into view and then moves again to give sight to Itachi laying on the ground holding his arm up just out of the line of sight. His hair is falling out of the usual neat ponytail and around his face, messy from whatever struggle he's been fighting. The little black kitten shakes its head from where it had tumbled to the ground and then immediately is leaping back on him, trying to climb up his arm to get to whatever is out of view.]

Then have it your way. [There's another fond laugh before he lowers the wide brim straw hat with torque chimes dangling from it down, closer to his chest. The kitten proceeds to jump on it and knock it to the ground, the bells stopping with a thump. Not that Shinju cares, she's going to bat them around herself until she gets the sound she wants. And Itachi plans on letting her.]

You're worse than he was. Not an easy feat.

[Someone might want to mention that this is recording. He hasn't bothered to notice.]

[ although the morning's rain prevented them from getting an early start on setting up, quinn and rebekah have managed to pull everything off in time for the dance to start. there's tables to sit at when you don't feel like dancing or enjoying the surf, lots of hawaiian-themed snacks and desserts to eat, grass skirts and leis available for those who wish to wear them, lanterns and torches everywhere, with live music provided by quinn, oz, jack, lacus, and anyone else who wishes to get up and sing!

the only thing this party's lacking is the booze, per quinn's intentions of having this be an alcohol-free party. however, that doesn't mean someone isn't going to spike the punch when she's not looking, so if you were planning on doing so -- have at it!

so, go ahead and dance it up with your dates, mingle with some new cr, hop around, and threadjack to your heart's content. festivities will carry on until sometime after midnight when clean up will commence. enjoy! ]

Of course that's just reality, and there can't be many out there who can see reality for what it is at the moment. If no one was afflicted with seeing mirages then this would just be Kitty addressing people in her X-Men uniform with a backdrop of one of the many neatly maintained alleyways between buildings in Sector 2 while tightly clutching a stick in her hand.

For Kitty, she is in what remains of Sector 2 as she tries to lay low between a pile of rubble that was once a building and the burning, gutted remains of another. She believes the stick in her hand is actually a high tech blaster she got off of one her attackers. They seemed alien in origin to her, but "alien" is kind of a moot point in an inter-dimensional prison. Still, they weren't wearing jumpsuits and they had personal flying devices and were loaded down with weapons.

For you, the viewer, you might see zombies creeping up on her or maybe everything is black and white and she's dressed like a newscaster. She could look like someone giving ransom demands or have a face covered in tentacles. Or maybe whatever it is you think you see becomes a tootsie roll to you. It could also be you're sharing this very particular mirage and you see it just as she does. Whatever the case, beauty and everything else is in the eye of the beholder today.]

Sector leaders report! Does anyone recognize these things? They aren't wearing communicators and... [she ducks and then returns "fire" by aiming her stick at the sky and pulling the "trigger" until she looks satisfied that she's safe again for the moment.] Damnit!

Derek, get the Investigative team somewhere safe and figure out what the hell's going on. We need to get ahead of this. Combat units, protect your sectors! Sector 6 team, we're staying in the other sectors and lending support. Dispatch, we need you watching the network and working out where the worst of it is. All units stay in communication with dispatch!

Hey, I was wondering... has anyone tried requesting weapons, yet?

[Someone had been thinking lately, and he was curious if he should bother trying to get his bow and arrow set back again.]

[Welcome to the life of Xander Harris where he's familiar with sex bots—not that he ever used! But kissing bots are of the new variety. On one hand these are amazing. On the other he could get stuck with someone like Angel or Spike. So they aren't amazing. They are bad. Very bad. He should be hiding in his room. Why is he not hiding in his room?]

[There was a bit of a mail delay with PM's disappearance, but everyone on the team should have gotten a letter this morning. By noon the roof of the new Defense Force headquarters is ready for guests. It isn't exactly decked out, but there is a long table with finger-foods: small sandwiches, fruits, and hors d'oevres as well as sweets like cupcakes and truffles. An arrangement of sodas and bottled waters sits on one end next to an enclosed punch dispenser. Sorry, no spiking the punch, kids. There are also small standing tables around the edges. The only real seating comes in the form of benches along the sides. The point is to get to know the rest of the team, not to sit and eat, so this suits Kitty just fine. They can thank Lacus for the fact that there is food at all and that things have been arranged in such a way to promote circulation.

She waits until it seems like most everyone has drifted in and calls for their attention while perching herself up on the wall itself. No fear of heights here.]

My name is Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, I'm with the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI. I'd appreciate speaking with anyone who has a background in law enforcement or the military. Thank you for your time.

The festival continues. The dome's "sun" begins to set and the the sky is painted in gradually darkening shades until all is dark beyond the glowing of the lanterns and sparkling of the colored lights on the rides and games.

The speakers high above on the floating island begin to play soft ambient music and the dark dome flickers to life once more as projections of landscapes light the sky. They fade in and out every few minutes with images of cityscapes, deserts, seasides, mountain ranges in shades of futuristic, ancient, post-apocalyptic, foreign, and outer space. It may seem like a random assortment at first, but then the scene shifts again and just might take your breath away as you recognize what you're seeing. No people. No animals. But the landmarks are all there. It's a place you grew up or lived or worked or fought for or died at, and then it's gone again, fading into someone else's memory.

After an hour or so the scene shows another sunset and the sky goes dark aside from the sparkling of a starscape. New lanterns are lit leading a path to the beach where there's a large white open-style tent with a dance floor. Flames light the fire pits and there are colors projected upon the water so it glimmers in different hues. The music takes on more variety and life, perfectly suitable to dancing.

The bots have been busy cleaning up the dome and setting up decorations for this momentous occasion, and by now there isn't a nook or cranny left un-pimped! Bright blue MarinaNova flags wave happily in the artificial breeze together with the colorful ribbons that have been wrapped around poles. The streets are illuminated by strings of lights and paper lanterns and each sector gate has been lovingly decorated with fragrant flower garlands.

Of course, that is far from all! There wouldn't be much of a festival without entertainment and your loving wardens have made absolutely sure that there's something for everyone!

Welcome to Day 198. Sunny. Clear. Practically perfect in every way.

Today, the museum will be featuring torture devices*. Sadly, there will be no gift shop open for this particular exhibit. Do use discretion if you have a weaker constitution or fancy yourself innocent.

One of the food carts in sector 0 will also be featuring pizelles.

Messages to report to the kiosk will be sent to Dirk, Jake, Piter, Spike, Tyki, Laura, and Itachi. If they do not report they will be brought there by sentinels.)

[There's an annoucement for another group, this one meeting in one of the rooms at the education center. This group is specially made for those with issues with the families. When you arrive to the room the chairs will be moved to form a circle. It's to promote a feeling of unity, okay?

[The dojo in Sector 1 is quiet and there have been pillows strewn about a low rise table in the center of the room. This is where therapy group 6 will be meeting as the messages on their communicators will tell. Propped against the table are a few wooden training swords, soft padded baseball bats, and on the table are two wooden boxes. Inside the on the left box are strips of paper with instructions for different activities. The sentinels let it be known that if they participate in them, the session will end sooner and they will be allowed to leave. The other box has strips of blank paper and pens inside. Between the two boxes on the table is a stuffed ball that fits easily into the average person's hand.]

[Out and about today, Raven can be found drifting from shop fronts like the bakery and coffee shop to the park, slow strides without a lot of direction as she takes a long walk through the sights. She's been here how long now? And she's still curiously discovering things, venturing farther from home every time.

We've got ourselves some new digs. Still in sector two and not too far from the educational center, but free standing. It's one of those many empty building set up around the place. It looks like it was designed to be something retail, but I figure we can make it work. I've already found some dividers. Talk to me if you have experience building actual walls or magic wall-generating abilities.

Team leaders, I've got an idea of where I think things need to go, but I want your input.

Rebecca, you're in charge of getting dispatch relocated.

Zatanna, I want you to put in some security measures like we talked about before.

We've also been losing people to the dimensional stabilizer, so Derek is temporarily also a sector team leader. [Sorry, Peter.] He's already got a position though, so if there is anyone else looking to step up, let me know. Also, Faith will be taking over her sector. Teams are a little unbalanced right now, but instead of moving people to new assignments, let's just make it a thing that the largest teams check in with the smallest ones to help cover the sectors. When we get new people or returning people back they'll fill up again.

[It isn't her first time teaching, so she's pretty comfortable at the front of the room going through her notes. The hardest part was deciding what to talk about publicly and what not to mention. The force has always been something of a topic for debate. Those present might notice she's wearing her large, metal wrist gauntlets again thanks to Zelgadis. It covers up the blue band at her wrist and they have claws inside! But if all the boys and girls are good they probably won't get popped during class.]

[Piper was spooked. She'd dealt with ghosts, even ghosts of people she knew, but nothing like this. In fact, this was the one person she hadn't seen before as a ghost, and she was not happy about it. For the moment, she was in the grocery store, buying up things to bake since she didn't have any plants to water and the apartment she was using was already clean. She needed a distraction, and she needed to not see what was happening and who was wandering around blankly through the dome.

She needed to not see who was standing outside the grocery store as she was trying to shop. She was being clumsy, though, kind of slamming things about and dropping them into the basket with a lot of noise. Clearly, she was upset.]
