[Euphie has some of her family back and, sure, it's complicated because it always is with them, but she's happy. Happier than she's been in awhile. Now she just has to figure out where everyone is going to sleep and make sure no one attacks anyone else. Totally normal roommate stuff! She's also eager to discuss it all with Aidan and Nathan. What could possibly go wrong?

She can easily be found trying to make things nice by tidying up—not her strong suit, putting out fresh flowers, or having tea and sweets ready for people.]

[ He watches her tidy for a few minutes from the doorway. It shouldn't have taken him so long to do math this simple, but... Lelouch was not in the best shape two days ago.

He doesn't... plan on making it an issue if it's not. She clearly wants him here, and he... wants to give her anything she could possibly want, right now.

But it's hard not to notice that his presence has disrupted her life. ]

[She looks up and smiles at him.] I thought the place could use a little more color. [And it was such a safe, temporary way to do that. She's touched very little about the common area since moving in. For a long time she hasn't felt entirely welcomed into the space. Sougo missed Lacus and tended to keep her room as a shrine of sorts. And then eventually Sougo was gone too, but she wasn't sure how Aidan felt about adding new people or even new throw pillows, so she made the room her own, but tried to leave the rest alone.] Did you sleep well?

You must have been really tired. [Certainly more than she would have expected, so she picks up on some of those implications.] There is a lot to take in here.

[She nods.] Better than I might have expected. [It's good having him back and even after the shared dreaming brought the geass to the forefront of her mind she didn't have an uptick in nightmares about it.]

[ For the first two days, Lelouch was... a very quiet roommate, for the most part. Maybe shut down is the more accurate phrase. He accepted borrowed clothing, slept on a corner of Euphie's bed with only a token protest that he didn't want to put her out, and kept himself busy with listening to mostly other-people on the network.

(Occasionally, there were also moments where you might have caught him just... staring off into space, the fingers of one hand somewhat conspicuously placed on his own wrist. Feeling his own heartbeat.)

But by the third day, he's started to emerge a little from that shell. This morning, with its unseasonable heat, found him digging through what he'd brought home from the store yesterday and actually seeing the clothes for the first time. Realizing with still-slightly-distant despair that none of them are actually to his taste. Finally slipping into cargo shorts and a polo shirt because they're the only things appropriate for this weather.

Lelouch will poke around the kitchen for a while in the morning, though he's probably too late to make breakfast; just -- seeing what they have in stock, and thinking about cooking at a later date. After that, you might find him in the living room with a screwdriver, taking his communicator apart. ]

Lelouch.

[ Suzaku's just stepped back into the apartment, drenched in sweat and a little out of breath. He's been out for a run. A long run. Yes, even with the heat. He hasn't been able to sleep much for the last two nights (to be fair, it's a combination of the dreams the night before and the memories resurfacing with a vengeance, not just the latter), might as well get some exercise in, right?

But Lelouch is there and Suzaku just stills, at the normalcy of the other boy (his best friend) (his worst enemy) (the person he's once most wanted to know and regretted ever knowing) (yes, he is very confused and that won't go away soon) just puttering around the apartment, his sweat turning chilly despite the heat. ]

[ He says it back determinedly. Wills himself to ignore the tightness of his own grip on the refrigerator door, and contemplates the merits of shutting it vs. sticking his head deeper inside and pretending to need to inspect the contents in much greater detail. It's such a good excuse for not having to turn around and actually look Suzaku in the eye or anything.

There's a strong urge to pick at his polo shirt, straighten it or something. Push his hair out of his eyes. Otherwise -- fix his own appearance, to make himself at least physically immune to judgment when he's sure every other thing about him is wrong, by you.

FLEIJA. It feels like so long ago. And he remembers so little of it. Clinically he supposes he went into something of a fugue state... ]

[ Suzaku tilts his head a little. Then his eyes dart toward Euphie's room, and he takes a deeper breath, moving to pour himself some water. He doesn't mind to the idea of keeping a distance from Lelouch. For the sake of both of them. But he knows whose orders he will never not follow, and he knows what she would want of him. Not order him, not about this. But want. ]

[ ... no? He's actually asking. With that answer, something in Suzaku's face just shutters back down. There is no glare of accusation, though, it's just what he deserved. His fingers are white-knuckled tight around the glass, but he drinks slowly, measured. Careful.
