Spooktacular Anniversary Festival Event Info
Hold on to your broomsticks, Marinanites, it's time for the Day 400 Anniversary.

Those of you who've been with us for some time might remember the anniversary festivals for day 300 or even 200, and we're following tradition with another festival for day 400. This time we're lowering the temperature and painting the trees a bright orange for a good old fashioned Halloween Festival! All in good fun, of course... or is it?

Ready to get all the details? Of course you are!

Costumes: Costumes will be available and even encouraged, whether home made or picked up in one of the many stores. Be warned though, some of the costumes may come with a side effect of a curse, effectively turning you into whatever or whoever you're dressed as! This can mean walking around with real kitty ears and tail for the day, or passing through furniture because you decided to be a boring sheet ghost - or something else! It's all up to how you wish to interpret it!

Activities: The Wardens have read up on scary organic traditions and are setting up a real treat for you - literally. There will be bots around with baskets of candy, ready for trick or treaters. You are of course encouraged to trick or treat each other as well! There's a haunted maze set up in the Sector 5 graveyard, complete with spooky animatronics and mood setting lights. If you're not looking to be spooked quite so much you're welcome to join the festivities in Sector 0, where more tame activities like bobbing for apples, face painting and pin the tail on the Jersey Devil has been set up. You'll also find a crafts table where you can make your own spooky masks, make a spider out of pipe cleaners or maybe carve a beautiful grin into a pumpkin!

Food and drink: Other than a veritable avalanche of sweets and candies available throughout the dome, the food carts in Sector 0 will also have season appropriate treats such as pumpkin pie, spiced apple cider, graveyard brownies and pumpkin spice pumpkin cookies. If you're looking for something not quite as sweet, may we suggest the green spaghetti with meat(eye)balls, or perhaps a few hotdog fingers?

Dance party: What would an anniversary be without the dance party at the end of the evening? A dance floor will be constructed on the beach, illuminated with fire pits, torches and the occasional lost spectre. There'll be spooky themed drinks available (no cocktail without eye of newt!) and a good selection of danceable tunes.

Volunteers: Want your character to earn some extra points? The Wardens are more than happy to take on volunteers to help the bots decorate the dome and set up the activities! Maybe your character has a special skill they can put to the test, like scaring small children or telling ghost stories?

So, what are the odds that John can set up a spooky vigil in an attempt to talk to spirits in the graveyard?

Hey! Since Rica took the lead on this event I don't want to call this answer said and done until she gets back since that will still be before the event starts. But I didn't want you to think we'd missed it either.

My take is that he can absolutely try, but there are no actual spirits within the dome to reach because no one has actually died there. All "deaths" were virtual. And the dome itself blocks all outside connections.

That said, we might allow for some kind of reaction (virtual spirits maybe?) since the wardens want to provide a good theme for everyone! So, we'll get back to you on whether there are any options to explore with this.

Totally understandable!

I was actually planning on him not being able to pull anything off. So that would work if it's what is decided on! We get a laugh at John's expense, he learns a thing or two, and it'll be great!

Might want to tell him not to go digging around in literal graves. He'd do that. Once you guys decide, I'll throw up a post :D

If you do it outside the confines of Day 400 you can definitely expect nothing! And if you prefer nothing even on Day 400 you can definitely do that too! But we'll still discuss and I'll let you know if there's an additional option.

He can probably get a shovel at Bull's Eye. Hope he likes dirt, dirt, and more dirt! (And then forcefield/dome if he is REALLY enterprising and digs deep!)

Awesome! Whenever it manages to work, it does!

Well, he has canonly graverobbed before (admittedly it was in a mausoleum in Louisiana), so it shouldn't be a big deal~!

Okay! If you want to get fake spirits on Day 400 (and only Day 400 for now) you are welcome to. And those can take whatever shape you prefer though they should do no physical harm to him or others. You can also have him fail. Whatever you prefer! Enjoy!

Re: Day before - Martha's very happy to help decorate. Or grudgingly willing... is that just something I can go ahead and mention happened, maybe play out, or should I have her talk to the wardens about that.

Re: Event, Martha's an excellent storyteller and wouldn't mind setting up a storytelling station. Same gist, do I need to sign her up for that or can all the logistics be handwaved.

Nevermind. I just saw the day post about handwaving being okay. Please excuse me while I go find my brain. I seem to have misplaced it somewhere.

Day 399: You can absolutely proceed as if she did without talking to the wardens.

Day 400: Logistics can be handwaved.

• God bless Persona 4 and it's costumes Kanji is all set. He's already pretty close to Frankenstein monster intelligence levels and strength because he's big and dumb so the only real change will be actually being made of dead body parts ooooh spooky except he probably won't notice or get the reference.

• Phanan will be a cheesy Halloween pirate because of course he will with a real hook hand, eye patch and peg leg in place of his usual prosthetics. Normally this would bother him but he's been here long enough and experienced enough festivals to figure out it's just temporary so he'all be living it up instead.

• Ianto and Aigis will (probably) be normal and enjoying the festivities without craziness unless I get a really sweet costume idea between now and then.

I love the idea of Phanan getting a peg leg and eye patch instead! Very cool!

Not sure if I'll be doing anything with Jack since I'd like him to actually enjoy the festivities without too much drama, but I *was* thinking he might offer to help with the decorating in order to earn points to give to Martha for scar removal - do you think he'd be able to persuade Ianto to help out too?

Excellent. :-)

No need to play anything out, I think, but at least we know it's happening so we can talk about it - and other people can mention seeing them decorating if they want too!

(Sorry for the lack of tagging today. Brain's been busy with Lego building instead...!)

Sarah: is dressing as a fairy. And she's going all out. And when she turns into a fairy it's going to be amazing.

Mal: will be Mal. No idea what he's going to do.

Martha: might be telling stories. Haven't come up with a costume idea for her yet. Might keep her grounded since the trauma of being a vampire is causing her problems.

Undecided if Nico will dress up. It's not something he would be thrilled with doing. HOWEVER, he thinks Halloween is pretty cool. If he can be bothered, he will do the bare minimum of tossing a sheet with holes over his head and topping it with a crown.

More than likely, one of the deciding factors.

As much as I want to have Ryou in costume, he likely won't want to go through that sort of effort. He will, however, attend the event, of course, to eat food. And openly judge it. And then eat more of it.
