[ There is Suzaku. There is Suzaku with his eyes as though carved from stone.

He opens his mouth to say that Euphie is no longer in the Dome, which means that she is gone back to her death and what comes out? ]

How oft when men are at the point of death

A lightning before death: O, how may I
Call this a lightning? Euphie! Gone! ... for good...

[ ... Two bright blotches appear on Suzaku's cheeks because WHAT IS THIS EVEN and how can any of it be said to be for good, and he cuts the transmission. ]

[ It's not easy to find him, really. Between knowing that Euphie is gone and dead, and the whole poetry spouting thing (the former far more problematic than the latter, because he had a second chance to be her Knight here, and he failed her again all the same) he just. Is not up for being around people. It's not fair to people.

But eventually she can find him off close to the wall of the Dome, staring out towards the water of the ocean surrounding them. The nonexistent ocean around nonexistent bubble around nonexistent people, shone on by a nonexistent sun.

Cheerful, yes. ]

He doesn't. Not yet. Partly because he doesn't know what words will be coming out of his mouth, of course, but also...

It's that easy. You wake up, and somebody is gone. Somebody who has no future. And he knows, he knows he doesn't deserve the comfort of another presence, anyone's presence, yet he can't push her away. Not for the first few moments, at least. ]

[ Oh. The tears catch her off guard; they make his grief much more immediate. She's not sure what to do -- Lelouch never cries where she can see, even when she held him after the first time Euphemia died. She has... hmmm. She pulls a bit of her sleeve over her hand and uses it to wipe Suzaku's tears away. ]

[ Of course he noticed her absence. Tried briefly to convince himself she'd just gone out early for some reason or other. Knew, somewhere deep down, that it wasn't that.

For the last half hour or so, he's been trying to put together some form of announcement himself. Felt it was his responsibility. Wanted to... keep Suzaku from having to do it.

Apparently he delayed too long. ]

He opens his mouth, then. Shakes his head a little. Nope. Words would be hard usually, spinning rhymes would make it not right.

Anyway.

There's the faintest, faintest spark in Suzaku's eyes at the hand signal. Well, at least that's one way to communicate! Not a very elaborate one, not really, but it's better than nothing.

He shakes his head a little. No. Not as planned.

Then he taps his chest, makes the gesture for alone. Pauses. Points at the vid pickup. Alone, and then negation.

After all, all Suzaku has to deal with is failure. Lelouch's guilt is somewhat more... direct. ]

He remembers fighting against its inclusion, because knowing there were things in life you couldn't control and accepting that are two very different things.

But he's glad to have the sign now.

Lelouch glances around Suzaku, noting the general location, and adds a forwards shoulder-curl: I'll meet you there. It's followed by a very slight head-tilt, which is just... their sign for a question mark. Usually a larger motion than this, less subtle and less uncertain.

In effect: If that's okay...? ]

Suzaku cants his head to one side. Well. She doesn't seem particularly alarmed at her own singing, more like startled and thoughtful, and then shrugging it off. Slight nod, and then even slighter head-shake. Then shrug. ]

[ Suzaku opens his mouth to point out that there is no Euphie to wake up to, but then he pauses, because that is not what everybody needs to know. If they don't, Euphie will be alive a little longer to them, and that will be a good thing.

And then his eyes widen a little. Maybe Yuuki is not entirely wrong. Since they were awake already, if only for two days, and whatever had brought them all here had managed to keep Euphie alive for that.

So maybe she was not wrong, either.

Suzaku's mouth clicks shut, and he tilts his head. He wants to ask what, if any, progress has ever been made about that, but what comes between his lips? ]

We know what we are but know not what we may be.

Anyone with a heart, with a family, has experienced loss. No one escapes unscathed. Every story of separation is different, but I think we all understand that basic, wrenching emotion that comes from saying goodbye, not knowing if we'll see that person again - or perhaps knowing that we won't.
