Hey, everyone. I was thinking about how back home, some of the senior officers used to get together a few times a week for a poker game. It's great stress relief. Even though we don't have money here, we could figure something out. I'm open to suggestions, or we could just play for chips and bragging rights. [He doesn't know about everyone, but he's competitive enough to make bragging rights a decent motivator.] We could even call it a club, so everyone could get some of those rehabilitation points toward things we want to ask for.

Oh, and if you don't know how to play but want to learn, it's not hard. It's just a matter of practice. And who knows? You might be a natural.

Anyone interested? I was thinking we'd start in a day or two.

[He's hoping the Captain and Data (the default dealer back on the Enterprise) will be up for this, but hey. Anyone who wants to get together and have fun is fine with him. Also, it's too bad Commander Riker was only here that one day; he'd probably have gotten a game together long ago if he'd stayed.]

Day 247 - Sector 0 - Picture Day!

[info]marinanova_npc
[info]marinanova
[There are multiple peg boards set up in Sector 0 today—some tall, some short, some on wheels, some long, some magenta with glitter! But what do they all have in common? They are covered in pictures with familiar faces.

Maybe the face is many years younger and surrounded by family or maybe it's a shot taken in Marina (version 1 or 2!). Maybe it was a time when no cameras were present and yet here is the evidence of that moment in all it's candid glory.

You could have grabbed that really embarrassing or incriminating one and thought you were safe only to find out there were three duplicates! Sweet, horrific, sad, casual, posed, past, or present—the wardens are good at variety, so enjoy!]

(OOC: Plotting post for sharing pictures people might find on the boards.)

While many who knew her are already aware, it nonetheless seems prudent to inform the populace at large that Seven of Nine is no longer present in the facility. It is likely that she had a number of acquaintances, outside those with which I am familiar, for whom this information would be relevant.

[ And if you happen to be acquainted with Data as he is in the facility, you may notice something missing in his words. Those from the Enterprise crew could likely tell you exactly what it is, as his speech has reverted to the perfectly even, controlled tones they knew well for so many years. ]

I am sorry that I must bear this news. Her absence will be noted.

[ it’s early— not obscenely so, but early enough that even the most diligent students probably haven’t yet made their way to the education center for piter’s lecture. he has different plans for tox today— think of it as a day off of sorts. ]

Do forgive me, but in light of recent events, I'll be forgoing a standard lecture this afternoon to address the prison at large.

[ the view is of a classroom— some may recognize it as the tox room, in fact— and of everyone’s favorite teacher sitting primly at his desk, looking down his nose into the camera. ] I realize that there are many cultures mingling in this dome of ours. Where, then, I must ask, is it customary to consume whatever one may find strewn about? [ he chuckles, elbow settling on the lacquered surface of the desk as he props his chin up on his fist. ] No stranger to hedonism am I, but senseless hedonism can so easily end in a poisoning. Are we so incapable of controlling our most base urges that we must, like caged beasts, eat whatever is tossed to us through our bars?

Now, make no mistake: your well-being is of no consequence to me. I am not your protector simply an onlooker. [ his shoulders rise fluidly into a shrug. ] You all do make quite the fine test group, at the very least.

[ after another chilly chuckle, the feed clicks off. despite not holding a lecture today, piter is hanging out in the room he’s re-purposed for toxicology and will be slithering around the educational facility and the library for a few hours. bothering him is, as always, highly encouraged. ]

It had been a simple plan, but a plan that worked quite well as Locutus, while seemingly malfunctioning, still thought himself superior to the ones offering to assist him. The other Borg within the dome having left, a hole inside of him once again void of the Collective, even a stunted Collective. They had lured him with the human doctor, offering the alcove of the former Drone designation Seven of Nine in assistance in repairing him. If there was anything he knew of the humans, they would not bring more harm to this body as they were primarily sentimental creatures. And mostly, it was the use of the Borg tech that had made the decision for him.

Once there, he had slipped easily into the alcove, trusting the Starfleet officers and the human woman to use the tech as it was intended, rather than to somehow use it against him. But as he felt that other consciousness begin to gain in strength and seep through the cracks, he began to struggle, had to be restrained until everything seemed to go black and he felt the steady arms of the android and the blind malfunctioning human catch him before he crumbled to the floor.

Jean-Luc was awake, barely lucid at the moment as he felt the shift in consciousness inside his mind. The freedom to roam, so to speak, he fought his way out, tearing at mental walls and clawing at psychological floors to come back. His chest hurt. His mechanical heart that had suddenly failed him, forcing the other tech inside to turn on him. His face hurt where Locutus had clawed at his skin. His mind felt as if it had been turned inside out, dissected and traumatized to the point that he could barely think straight.

But there was some familiarity here as his eyes barely opened, blinking into a light too bright. His eyes, Jean-Luc’s eyes, worried and tired, questioning in a human way rather than the detached way of the Borg. Locutus was not there anymore.

Additionally, I feel that we should convene to review our progress, and our current available options.

Hey. Terry McGinnis. It's been a while since I spoke up here, I think, but I've got an open-ended question.

Don't read too much into it. I'm not a super scientist or wizard or anything, so all you get for answering it is making both of us marginally less bored. But I could use a little less boredom. Sports and patrols and working out only do so much for a guy.

Anyway, here goes: Tell me about space where you're from. How many planets have people been to, what other species have you met? How long have you had faster-than-light travel?

Even if you're not from Earth. I wanna hear about alien's aliens too.

[Day 237] Time-Space Shenanigans Group Therapy Mingle

[info]killerspeed
[info]marinanova
[Anyone summoned to Time-Space Shenanigans Group Therapy will wander down to the Education Center in Sector 2. Specifically, to a large physics lab, which has been outfitted for a day of scientific learning. The first table, near the entrance, has pastries, cookies, endless bowls of fruit, and jugs of lemonade, water, and various sodas. There are bots hovering around the table, as they know that one (or possibly more) of their guests has an endless appetite. Just ignore them - the bots are pretty much there to re-stock the food table.

The other lab tables each have a stack of cards, with instructions to get into pairs and answer them as honestly as possible, making sure to give everyone ample time to answer questions. The tables also have demonstrations for various physics experiments on each table, though they require 2-3 people to get started. Each lab table - except for the one with food - also has a small bowl of candy hidden inside each lab experiment. Although there is no music in the background, there is a soft 'tick-tock' from multiple clocks on each of the walls. Each clock, strangely enough, reads a different time than the one next to it. Not a single one of them is in sync, despite the harmonious tick-tock sounds coming from them.]

[OOC: Yet another mingle! These are not all the questions - feel free to make some more up if you desire. It’s late in the day and Jean-Luc is just leaving the hospital. Aside from the fact that it takes something of great magnitude to get him into any kind of sick bay, an abnormal experience had been made even more surreal by the cold sterility of the bots. Nevertheless, something had happened that made him feel that a medical exam was necessary. It had just been several ticks in his chest, right where his artificial heart implant was. It usually ran without fail, almost unnoticeable to the point that he forgot that he had an artificial heart at all. Given the unknowns of the medical advancements and knowledge of the prison, he had thought it best to reassure himself that all was well without drawing too much attention to the issue or himself. He knew how concerned both Data and Geordi, and possibly even Seven, might be were they to know that he felt... unwell.

It's his distrust of the bots as a whole which had him heading toward the clinic that Helen runs. He might run into anyone along the way, but he opens the voice function to Helen as he moved through the dome.

[So it's just after four in the morning and a certain someone has been skipping sleep for a few days now, working on different projects. It's harder to get things to work when you don't have that much in materials to build with, but Richie keeps at it. Even if he can't build, he can at least design. It's not like the days of little distraction give him less time to come up with ideas for new inventions. He just finished drawing the schematics for a solar-powered motorbike.

He takes another sip of his coffee only to realize it's chilled and grimace at the cold. And then another idea hits him and it's awesome but he doesn't have anyone to tell just how awesome it is. So he makes a call, which he completely thinks is privated to Zatanna, but he's running on two hours of sleep in the last three days, so.]

Yo, Zee...what do you think about a solar powered motorbike with--get this. A self-regulating drink holder! It would be amazing right? It would go great with the helmet with the built-in voice-command wifi and satellite radio. I'd just need to design to add-in an sensor for controlling the temperatures between coffee, iced tea, and warm milk.

[His tone is a bit manic, but energetic. He's past the point of fatigue to the kind of crazed euphoria that is a sign of a bad crash to come.]

[info]marinanova
[ filtered to investigative team ]

Greetings. For those with whom I have not spoken directly, my name is Data. In the interest of putting this announcement in the proper context, it seems wisest that I begin by explaining that I am an android. As such, I possess the ability to accurately record and recall any information to which I am exposed. Some of you may be aware that, during our time in Squall Asylum, we made use of this in order to record information in the absence of any other means by which to do so.

Though we have since returned to MarinaNova, I have agreed to continue doing so in order to gradually compile an organized database of our working knowledge that we can search, compare, reference, and update. While I will still be taking reports personally, I will also be constructing a computer system with which I am capable of interfacing to store and to provide access to these files to all team members for their own investigative research purposes. This will take some time with the materials which are available to us, but I believe it is possible. This would prevent any loss of information were I to become lost, or damaged.

If anyone has any input, suggestions, or questions regarding this project, or would be interested in assisting, I would be most welcoming of any cooperation.

[ filtered to rebecca crane ]

I hope that you do not mind my contacting you directly. It was suggested by Doctor Reid that I initiate a conversation with you, specifically regarding what he described as your attempts to compile an encyclopedia of available knowledge on the facility. He believes that we may benefit from coordinating our efforts and possibly integrating all of our information into a single database with various levels of access as would apply to that which is restricted to the Investigative Team, and that which is available for public perusal. I would be happy to work cooperatively on this endeavor, if you wish.

[ open in dome / potential trekpartment action ]

[ After making the post, Data busies himself looking into the technology and components which are available and gauging their potential usefulness. He's built devices out of objects far less advanced, but he believes he may still have to request some items from the wardens. Somehow, he has his doubts about how well that will go. So the more he can manage to do with what they have available to them, the better.

At the same time, there is another matter on his mind - Geordi has had a couple of days to become accustomed to his surroundings and seems to be adjusting well. Probably a good time to properly introduce Annika in context of their relationship, at the next point they're all together. Ah. Anxiety. Still a curious sensation. ]
