[Tuesday afternoon, a news item makes its way into Las Vegas broadcasts. It comes usually as a second or third item in the lineup, not at the top of the broadcast any more. It is stated, usually by a grim-faced newscaster, that there has finally been an arrest in the case of the kidnapping of the local boy that has been missing for nearly two weeks. The newscasters are sure to mention that the boy has yet to be found. The name of the suspect isn't officially released, but the rumor begins to spread that it's the nanny, just like the police have thought all along. Another rumor says that she's killed the boy, and that he'll never be found.]

[Tuesday, the Phantom door is covered with a large sheet of metal. The metal is a mishmash of materials, and it has whorls designed into the thick surface. It's gloomy, for all that, and it extends past the ends of the door and is welded into the foundation beside. Behind it, the door can be heard to change and shift, if its owners near it, but there is no way to access it without unwelding the seam.]

[After checking out the Phantom door for himself, and seeing that it is indeed welded shut.]

I keep reading all the news about that little boy that was kidnapped and it just... it hits really close to home. Has my stomach all in knots. I hope they find him, and I hope to all gods out there that he's all right. That's... that's a mother's worst fear, I think.

The following are inside the box: a First Edition of The Talented Mr. Ripley, a First Edition of A Dictionary of the English Language,and a First Edition of Paradise Lost. There's an envelope on top of them with Maren's name written in strong, block letters. Inside is a key card to the suite next to Raegan's at the Wynn (which will remain available to her for the foreseeable future) and a note.
