What do desperate doctors turn to when they are trapped and the broken in their care cry and rage in fear at the dark? Even good doctors, with limited patients, are still human, and frightened themselves. You can see it in their eyes.

I wonder what it is like elsewhere.

I've been invited to speak at a conference.

There is not enough anxiety medicine out there to get me up on that stage, but I can't afford not to.

I have to say that this is a strange way of communicating with both of you, especially the two of you whom I read about as a child back in England. I've recently, um, how shall I put this? Acquired Samwise as a partner in my head. The girl he had previously...I believe she returned to her home country, from what he tells me. Anyway.

Samwise mentioned that you lot might be going on a quest soon. He seems particularly worried about it, understandably so from what I understand about what's going to happen soon in your world. I can ask for a holiday from work to make it easier for Samwise to shift back and forth between worlds easily enough, if you think it would assist both of you.

I have taken the time to pen a note to your old Gaffer. Nob will take it to Buckland next week or the following one and have Uncle Rory send it on up to Hobbiton. That should give us the extra time that we need it. I have only _stretched_ the truth in a few places, and have left out the real reasons behind our journey southward.

The seeds I planted just after those holidays before are beginning to grow. They look quite lovely, I imagine, don't they, Mr. Frodo? Aye, I think they do. 'Tis a brighter future we'll be making, even if this is a wee thing that we can do to make it brighter.

So. My therapist recommended getting a pet. I've never been into cats (sorry to anyone I might offend), so I'm thinking a dog. A rescue, perhaps, because pet stores make me uncomfortable.

Anyone with any tips? Suggestions?

And Ben? If you're not up for adding a third canine roommate, do let me know. I'll get a goldfish, instead.

Would you call this bit of...I don't know if it's technology or magic or what the fuck. This bit of a thing more of a weird "I have a voice in my head" version of facebook or a blogging site? Or maybe some sort of newsletter? "Newsflash: Girl freshly arrived in Las Vegas develops headaches and a snarky British voice in her head. May or may not be going insane."

Personally, I'd like the classified sections. Are there any sort of discounts or new-hire priorities for having a voice in your head?
