NEW PLOT. THE MONOLITH. (AUGUST 16 - AUGUST 31)

WEEK NINETEEN
THE MONOLITH AT CARTER HALL

After the seventh day at precisely 1:32 AM, the campus once more resets. Everyone trapped in the experiment falls unconscious (if not sleeping already) only to wake up sometime afterward in their assigned bed, in their assigned room, in their assigned dorm in the exact condition they arrived, wearing the precise clothing they arrived in.

Once again, the campus sits in an unsettling but familiar white void.

Gone is the chaos or excitement of the previous week. What remains of Derleth University has returned to its gentle void so all its guests may recuperate in absolute peace. The dining hall kitchens have been restocked, any damage to the campus undone. All is well again.

Except…

It seems the campus has a new feature. During week seven, Vanya Hargrees destroyed Derleth’s second dorm building, Carter Hall. Instead of resetting the next week it never came back. During week thirteen there was an AU body swap, Rodney McCay noticed a black monolith trying to come into this plane of existence. It would appear it finally has.

ABOUT THE MONOLITH

  • The rubble of Carter Hall is mostly gone now. In its place is a black, retangular monolith that is about four stories high, as tall or taller than most of the campus buildings.

  • The monolith has no doors or windows. It appears to be made of a reflective glass like surface. Or maybe it is liquid? Obsidian? Something otherworldly? Sensors won’t be able to identify it.

  • Despite being reflective you cannot see your reflection on the surface of the monolith. Stare at it long enough, however, and you might receive glimpses of something else.

  • Are you going to touch the monolith? Um… That’s probably a bad idea?

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL

  • It feels as if the monolith is watching you. Each minute of every hour, the feeling of being watched is not intense, but it is inescapable.

  • Each night, at approximately 1:32 am, a loud blaring noise emanates from the monolith, it sounds deep and foreboding, like a fog horn. What is it for? What does it mean?

  • After the alarm, a light ash will rain, spewed from the top of the monolith over the campus for a few hours until the next night.

Have fun this week! :D
