I think that this is all terribly interesting.
It's true that this could be seen as a political move. I think all of us would be remiss and [...] naive to think otherwise.
But I am unsure that it is altogether as sinister as readily represented. Traditionalists are in a position of power. That is true. And I can respect a person's current need or want for privacy.
1) Verification of unregistered persons.
I understand why they would need to cross reference with Miss Lin, particularly in the cases where a person is not registered. They would be foolish to take a person on their word.
2) It makes sense to me that they would not expect any kind of collateral from a person who is registered. It's our privilege, in a way. We have registered and made ourselves available for and in the public eye. It makes sense to me that, in that case, we would be under less scrutinization to receive our items (of which I have none on the list, just to be clear).
3) And it is not as though they are not permitting unregistered persons their items entirely. Persons who are performing the [...] transactions do not know who your Tale is. You can register, or you can hear what they have to offer by means of proper collateral. It's like a pawn shop, in a way.
In many cases I feel that people are wanting to have their cake and eat it, too. You want what is rightfully yours, but you do not want to own up to be the Tale you need to be to have it. Meeting them halfway seems logical to me.
4) I would be interested on hearing thoughts as to why these items were not released before, but I do not want the political dead horse to be beaten, please. I would like other theories.
Perhaps it is they had to verify what all of the items do? They had to determine, it seems, which ones were "lethal" and which were not.
ETA: As Miss Green put, perhaps Coleson realized how some of us felt disconnected with our Tales after the Power Swap, and this is a good way of throwing an "olive branch," as it were.
ETA As Miss Quinn and I are discussing re: knowledge of lethal items, it is my theory that the Business Office would rather choose transparency over concealment. For how paranoid people seem to be as it is, I would argue they made the right call. If the list was later leaked, people would be up in arms over how "The Business Office was keeping lethal items for themselves for some shady reason."
This is getting entirely too long, hah! I think I'll cut it off here at the risk of turning this into an essay.
I should be doing homework Anyway! Thoughts?
EDITED TO ADD: FILTER TO MISS GACILLOS Good evening! I hope I'm not bothering you, and I apologize if I am!
It was brought to my attention that perhaps I was a little callous in my, ah wanting to better understand certain aspects of recent events. I should have spoken out for you, and I did not. Not through a lack of courage, but through a lack of understanding.
I do hope that you will come into the shoes, for what it is worth. My Grandmother seems willing to give them up [...] in time. And though I lov I apologize for her behavior.
Despite everything, are you finding yourself adjusting well to life here in Woodsbridge? Is there anything I can do for you?
