In case you didn't get a chance to watch Wake Up Woodsbridge this morning, a video was released of a private conversation I had with two friends.
One of the things I really remember about the Homelands was that I didn't enjoy being a Prince. There was a lot that was expected of me, and then whenever I did try to live up to those expectations I was oftentimes not taken seriously by my father. But I don't want to complain, my experience in the Homelands was much easier than others. My frustrations at being a Prince gave me the opportunity to go on a lot of adventures, something I loved to do, and it's because of those adventures that I was able to come across Sleeping Beauty's castle. And well,
you know the story.
You might be wondering why I'm telling you all of this. Our lives here are so much different than they were in the Homelands, but a lot of those prejudices and expectations have carried over. When I moved to Woodsbridge to attend the Academy, I could have taken the easy route. I could have been open about my Tale, and I could have accepted the (very minor) fame that came along with being a Prince. But I guess a part of me wanted to know how much I could accomplish without using my nobility from the Homelands as a crutch, and to know that I did it on my own.
It's why I believe so strongly in the right to Tale privacy. It should be clear now that I did not have anything to hide with my Tale identity, and I definitely did not want to use it as a way to gain influence. I wanted to earn your support on my own. But It's not just myself that I'm worried about. No one should be forced to deal with the prejudices or expectations from the Homelands if they are not ready. Despite your feelings on registration, I'm sure we can all agree that outing a Tale without their consent is not okay. It's never okay.
I'm sure there are some of you who have questions, and I'm prepared to answer them. I do ask that you give Elias and Charlie their privacy.
