[1] I *will* find her.TO: Yulichka
[2] Love you.
[1] Hey. I need your intuition on something.
Did you leave a rose at my doorstep, you creepy motherfucker?
Did you get one too?
So. How're we feeling?
About the Mayor-elect, not about the President-elect. I don't wanna talk about the President-elect. This is a no talking about the President-elect zone.
Figured we should check in and compare notes, yeah?
I've spoken with Jake Rivera, Maude Gotti [...] and Nick Emelin, who wasn't on our list. He's new in town.
Rivera was at home asleep during the theft. He doesn't have a witness to verify that, but his email records show he was sending emails shortly before and does appear to have been at home. He knows R. Gotti and Ms. Keener mostly through their mutual status as Witches, and says he and R. Gotti only discussed the objects vaguely. R. Gotti never mentioned wanting to steal the dagger, he says. He knows Keener mostly via her daughter. He stands by his criticism of the handling of the objects, which... at this point, frankly, who could blame him? I'm just lucky he didn't toss out an 'I told you so'.
He's heard of the Hand of Grimm in rumors, said he heard there's a group that helps unregistered Tales avoid being 'outed'. That's all he knew.
M. Gotti was asleep as well, and her husband corroborates. She's none too pleased by her stepdaughter's antics, but there's clearly a lot of love there. She knew R. Gotti was the Sea Witch but had no idea she was fixated on the dagger like this. Says R. Gotti would know better than to talk to her about any funny business. She and Suze Keener are close family friends -- her son Cadence Bone is dating Keener's daughter Maeve. She says S. Keener and R. Gotti are close due to that, plus the Witch angle.
M. Gotti believes the Hand of Grimm is an urban legend.
Nick Emelin is [...] Koschei the Deathless, one of my Talemates, and in our previous life he was a 'collector' of beautiful things. Like, uh, me. So I thought I'd ask him about this, because the timing is suspicious with him just recently rolling into town, but I think he's clean. Of this, anyway.
What've you all turned up?
What's good, fucko?
Hello, Mr. Rivera. Might I have a moment of your time?
I will do everything I can to find that skull, Yulia. I promise you.
I hate to even mention him, but what do you think are the odds Elias really wanted that wheel back?
Sir, reporting in with an update.
So far we've got jack and shit, unfortunately. They're covering for each other. Jasper got this out of Ms. Gotti:"I was going to take the dagger and destroy it. That's what I wanted. That thing should not be in a museum, it should be gone. They're putting a weapon that would permanently kill us all into a display case. I asked for it, they said no. So I went looking for it. I was going to leave a note that it would be destroyed. Leave the remains if people got scared. But I think I could break it. One good thing I could do about it. Suze and Zach tried to stop me but they didn't want me to get hurt. Unfortunately, as you might have noticed, somebody got there before me. And now somebody has it."Which is funny, because here's what I got out of Mr. Thatcher:"It was all my idea. Roz was so scared of that dagger and I decided I was going to go get it and destroy it. She and Suze tried to stop me and followed me all the way there, but they were just trying to protect me. It was all my fault."Told Mr. Thatcher that Ms. Gotti had confessed, so he says:"She's just saying that because she's my friend and she's trying to protect me. She knows... that I have a record, and she doesn't want me to get in any more trouble, because she's like my best friend. But trust me, it was definitely all my idea."This is absurd on its face. His 'record' is one guilty plea re: reckless driving almost a decade ago, plus a few juvenile trespassing charges that were expunged due to his Tale powers (lockpicking, climbing).
Milo, you get anything out of Keener?
