I spoke to the undergraduate with the mistake correction abilities. Essentially it depends on what the intent of your reindeer menace was when your lense was broken. If it was going after something else/attempting to be a general pest and the lense simply got caught in the crossfire, she should be able to fix it. If however it was deliberately trying to break your lense, then that technically wouldn't be a mistake/accident and therefore she wouldn't be able to help you.

Either way, I can pass the lense over to her and she's willing to try.
