Samwise -
I have taken the time to pen a note to your old Gaffer. Nob will take it to Buckland next week or the following one and have Uncle Rory send it on up to Hobbiton. That should give us the extra time that we need it. I have only _stretched_ the truth in a few places, and have left out the real reasons behind our journey southward.
My Dearest Gaffer Gamgee
I am going to borrow your son for a longer time then I first requested. It is surprising how much has accumulated in my parents home at Crickhollow. No doubt, the rooms are a dumping place for any mathom that has been shared far too many times, and a year would be far to short a time in which to get it cleaned out to the barest of walls. We have cleared one of the rooms .. into another and in the process of taking a load of goods to Auntie Mini's cousins in Bree.. okay so that was a stretch, but at least it would explain our presence here We have been asked to help her cousin, who has broken a leg, to take a load of good Southern Pipeweed southward to a place called Isengard. The journey shouldn't take much more than a fortnight or two. I suspect his correspondences to you will be... Even less than they currently are...
Hoping our orchard of apple trees are behaving and looking forward to several bottles of apple wine and many pantry's stocked with apple butter from the results.
Respectfully Yours,
F. Baggins

Telcontar,
I think we should leave the Inn seperately and meet up again somewhere on the Southern Road. I have procured Samwise and I, a reason and a wagon south. I trust in your knowledge of the road that you will find an out of the way spot in which to reconvene. But that would spare the questioning that would surely arise from the Breelanders if we three were seen leaving Bree together.
