Rorie and Mal had a date tonight. Garret wasn't jealous. Not too much. He knew that he didn't mind them being together like that, and in fact he liked it. He liked that the two of them had their own relationship, but there would never be a moment that he wasn't just a little jealous that they did things without him. So instead of stewing in that, and just going home and being jealous, he decided to bother Finn. It was one in the morning, Garret's shift had ended but he was too wired to go to bed. So off to kidnap the older O'Bannon.

Slipping into the man's apartment, Garret made his way to the bedroom, stopping a moment when he saw Finn and his lady friend curled up together. They were both dressed, so at least e wasn't interrupting. "Sorry, Lily," he said quietly, shaking her shoulder gently until her eyes fluttered open. "I'm stealing Finn," he explained to the bewildered girl, who mumbled a little, nodded, and rolled over with the covers. Going round to Finn's side, Garret looked him over a moment, then scooped an arm beneath the man's body and hoisted him up, carrying him like a sleeping bride toward the living room. "Wake up weirdo," he said loudly, once they'd left the bedroom. "We've got a date."

It hadn't been a real good day on Thursday, and Lily had been asleep on the couch by the time Finn got home from work. Truth be told, she couldn't handle being awake anymore, so she's laid down and gone to sleep to escape from it all. Even though she had closure now, and had gotten to say goodbye, it didn't make her feel any better. But waking up the next morning, even though she felt as dead as she had the night before, she had a sense of hope, almost. Rez was going to be okay. He could finally move on now, and maybe be happy with his girl friend and their kids. Maybe things would turn out okay for him.

She had a sense of hope for herself as well, though to a much lesser extent. One thing was certain, though; she didn't want to attach herself to Finn like some kind of heartbroken leech. He had been good to her, so he deserved her honesty and her respect. So after waking up early, Lily decided to have a talk with him. But first, she was going to make him breakfast. She was used to Rez before the full, so she knew exactly what he was going to want. After half an hour of locating things (like pots, pans and supplies), the kitchen smelled of bacon, eggs, sausage and steak. And Lily hadn't burned anything down yet, though it was a little smokey and the battery in the fire alarm had long since been taken out, and every window opened.

Lily had been thinking a lot lately, and she had come to the decision that she needed to make a more affirmative action on getting over Rez. Sitting in Finn's bathroom and crying her eyes out every night wasn't going to make her feel any better. Despite what that sad little voice in the back of her head told her, things weren't going to change. Rez was never going to change his mind about those kids, and Lily was never going to be able to handle kids. This was her fate now. And Finn was sweet, and he took care of her, and he had never once tried to make a move on her while she was vulnerable. Maybe she could be happy with him.

Sitting on his kitchen table, Lily was waiting for him to come home, her nails tapping nervously on the tabletop. Her hair was down, her legs were shaved, and all she had on was one of Finn's dress shirts and a pair of heels. Maybe this wasn't perfect, but it was something at least. Maybe it could be good for them both. When the dorknob finally turned, her heart leapt into her throat, but she kept herself composed. If there was one thing Lily could make herself do, it was be sexy even when she was unsure of it. "Hey," she said softly, one leg crossed over the other. "How was work?"

Finn and his lady friend were coming over, and it was a little exciting. Garret hadn't bothered to tell Mal about the evening, because he had a hunch (which wasn't a hunch so much as it was Finn telling him) that Mal didn't like Finn. But Finn needed socializing, and his girl person probably needed to get out and see other people, so they were coming over for food and drink and talking, and maybe some drunken board games. Who knew? The night was young!

After Rez had gone, Lily had sat on her bed and stared into nothingness for a long, long time. She felt dead inside. It was like losing James all over again, only much harder because Rez was actually a good person and she couldn't remember loving anyone as much as she loved him. She thought about everything they had done together, she thought about how their lives could have gone. She thought about how children ruined everything, and how she and Rez had been happy just last week and now they were both miserable. They deserved to be happy. Why did everything always have to get ruined?

She didn't want to be in her own room anymore. Just seeing it made her think about why she was here, how she had gotten here, and that now she didn't have Rez anymore. It was too much. She was going to kill herself if she had to keep thinking, and she couldn't do that to Rez. He had enough to worry about. So she packed up a backpack and decided to go to the one friend she had that wouldn't force her to talk about anything and wouldn't make her think about babies- Finn. Poor Finn was being so abused by her today, but she didn't have anyone else to go to. Part of her wanted to go to Lyle, but how could she explain it?

After knocking twice, and seeing that Finn wasn't home, Lily thought about just climbing the water tower and throwing herself off of it. But that was so far away, and it was cold outside, so instead she picked the lock and broke into Finn's place, walking through the dark and going right to the bedroom, flopping onto the bed and curling up in a ball.

Lily was in bad shape, and it was obvious. She hadn't bothered showering or eating or changing her clothes since she and Rez had talked. There seemed to be no point. The thought of them breaking up was just looming over her head like the Sword of Damocles. Rez wanted kids. Lily was going to be thirty this year, and she had known for the entirety of her life, even the part as a boy, that she didn't want kids. She had seen kids, and the damage they had done to peoples' lives, and how they ruined things forever. She and Rez were happy, why did that have to change? And maybe they weren't going to talk about it now, but they were both thinking about it. The inevitable. Rez wasn't going to change his mind about having a kid, and Lily wasn't going to change hers, and sooner or later they couldn't avoid it anymore.

She needed an escape. Chain-smoking wasn't helping her to relax, and all it was doing was clouding up her room. Her hair was dark black and long, stringy and hanging in her face. She looked thin, dangerously so, and her bright eyes were sunken and hollow. Simply put, she looked miserable. When the knock came to the door, she didn't even bother rolling over on the bed, let alone get up to answer it. "Augh," she called out, pulling the blanket over her head.

Finn's moodiness was practically radiating off him every time Garret saw him. (Actually, it was literally radiating off him, because he was an empath after all.) And it seemed that the only logical way to help remedy Finn's mood, and his own, was for Garret to kidnap the guy. It seemed exactly the right thing to do.

So he waited for Finn to punch out and start shuffling off toward the staff parking lot, a dreary and somber and absolutely pitiful look on the guy's face. Garret sighed heavily. I know the feeling he thought to himself, moving silently across the pavement, coming up to Finn just as the guy got to his car. "Hey," he said softly, offering a small shrug and a smile before bending down to wrap his arms around Finn's waist and hoisting the guy up over his shoulder, bending Finn in half like a sack of potatoes. There was nothing more said as he carried the younger man off, heading toward the mustang with a purposeful stride. Oh sure, Finn could protest and fight if he wanted, but it would really ruin the kidnapping.

Garret was not happy. At all. It wasn't so much what Finn had done (well okay it was a lot that), but that he had done it after he had called Garret at one in the morning from Los Angelos and they'd talked, and discussed things, and connected. At least, Garret had thought so. But apparently Finn was just determined to act like a dick and make people hate him and seek out vengeance on his brother who had never done anything to him and didn't deserve this kind of shit.

And that was why he was on his way to Finn's place. Storming the castle, so to speak. He was mad, and Finn was going to get a piece of his mind. Garret didn't even bother knocking, or warning Finn that he was there. He just walked in through the door and found the obnoxious little telepathic empath. Finn would certainly feel the anger radiating off Garret as he stood there, looking down at him, his eyes narrowed and his jaw set.

Mal had hung up the phone, leaving the papers to be graded on his desk in the pile he'd left them in. So much for getting work done, but this was slightly more important. What the hell was Finn thinking? He showed up at Riley's door as promising, knocking and poking his head in. "You alright? I've already picked up his trail if you want to go now."

Maybe it was fury at Rorie that was driving him, or maybe it was fury at Liam, or anger that this scenario was even possible in his life. Whatever the reason, Garret's jaw was set and his confidence was high, and his body was alight with tense readiness. He was well dressed, exactly the kind of thing you'd wear to meet your husband's mafiosa biodad. Exactly the kind of thing he didn't mind dying in. Because despite his incredible overconfidence, Garret knew that he could die tonight. But he had to try. Rorie couldn't spend his life caught up in his life, he couldn't. Garret wouldn't let it happen. So he was going to fix it.

The Mustang screeched to a halt outside Finn's place, and Garret beeped twice. He was going to storm the house, just walk in like he owned the place, and negotiate. It was a shitty plan, but men like Liam were curious little fucks. They liked to play with their food before they killed it, and at the very least, Liam would humor Garret if only to find out what he wanted.
