Never had a man been more eager than Garret Foss on his walk to Mal's apartment. If this went well, Garret had a feeling that Mal was going to be one very happy puppy this evening. And if it went badly, well... it was the thought that counted anyway. Still, Garret was nervous, but excited as he knocked on the door and then walked through it. He had knocked just to be polite- chances were, Mal had smelled him coming and the hound already knew he would just walk in if he felt like it.

There was no formal greeting as Garret came in. He simply walked over to the owner of the place, wrapped both arms around him and pressed a warm and suggestive kiss on those full, smirking lips. "Mmm," he purred fondly as he pulled away. "Hey."

Who: Garret and Mal
What: Confrontation about the email
Where: Mal's apartment
When: Evening
Rating: NSFW

After coming home from his day out with Lloyd, Garret had taken Pais out for a quick run, came home and cooked them both a steak, then kicked off his shoes and settled in for the night. He could have gone to The Flamingo, and see Lloyd in his pretty new dresses, but Garret needed to catch up on things he hadn't done yesterday because he'd been too distracted. As it turned out, his distraction and worry was for naught, because the evening with Rorie had actually been very pleasant. But that still left him with work to do, so grabbing his laptop and leaving room for Pais on the couch, Garret logged on to check his email. He was surprised to find one from Mal, someone he wasn't sure had ever emailed him (well not since the unpleasantness), and was surprised even more by the email's contents. For the longest time he stared at it, reading and rereading, trying to make sense of any of it. If Mal had been harboring these feelings, he did a damn good job of hiding it. Garret never saw this coming. A part of him thought to just return an email, but decided against it. If Mal had gathered up enough courage to write this, he deserved a face to face meeting.

Of course, Garret didn't know what he was going to say, or what he wanted to say, when he was finally standing in front of Mal's apartment door. He had sometimes thought about what might happen if Mal ever indicated that he still cared, but now that the prospect was staring him in the face... Garret's heart was hammering hard by the time Mal opened the door.

If Mal were an ordinary person, he'd be shifting from one foot to the other rather impatiently, wondering game Garret was playing. )

Who: Garret and Mal
What: Running into one another
Where: On campus
When: Morning
Rating: PG most likely
Status: In Progress

Pais was the biggest pain in the butt in the entire universe. Even though Friday was the day that Garret was supposed to be in his office all day, Pais had decided that he was lonely, and that he needed a walk just as Garret was trying to run out the door. It might've had something to do with eating Garret's entire bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, something else that made the boxer mix the biggest pain in the butt in the entire world.

Leash in hand, grumbling, Garret put on his jacket and his running shoes and headed out into the day, grumbling the entire time as Pais tugged on the leash and sniffed all around. "You've smelled and peed on everything on campus a hundred thousand times," Garret mumbled, annoyed. Today was not a good day to annoy him because thinking about tonight was making him all out of sorts. "Why are you pulling so hard, just find a spot and HEY!" Standing a moment, staring as Pais tore off across the lawn with his leash dragging behind, Garret growled and then took off running behind him. Stupid mutt.

And what were you expecting? Something different? )

Who: Max and Rorie, then Mal and Garret (and a brief appearance by Sim)
What: The Rescue!
Where: Evil vampire's house
When: Midday
Rating: PG 13 for violence

Rorie had come home tired and went straight to bed. He’d slept all of Monday, not even noticing if Garret was around or not. There hadn’t been any noises, anyone tapping on him to check on him or just creeking on the door way as if they were leaning in to look at him. Nothing. Not that he really noticed anything right off the bat. Rorie was passed out and hadn’t moved except once to get up and go pee. Come Tuesday morning when he wasn’t as tired or sore, he shuffled around the house, foraging in the great fridge for something to eat when he finally noticed it was quiet. The kind of quiet that tells you no one’s in the house with you. Even Pete was silent in his corner of the room.

What: Husband Loving
Where: Mal's house
When: Evening
Status: In Progress
Rating: NSFW [Violent/Abusive content]

When Mal came home, he would discover that the lights in his house (almost all of them) had been left on. He would find his fridge emptied of several of his beers and filled with a veggie supreme pizza and half a cheeseburger. He would find a pair of running shoes in the middle of the kitchen (standing perfectly as though the wearer had just vanished while waiting for the microwave to ding). He would find his television on, and too loud, and he would find a forty year old man child husband shouting obscenities at it.

"You German piece of SHIT!" Garret screamed, looking ready to throw the controller at the screen. "Camp bitch!!!"

You know what I really want? )

Wolf easily climbed into Jason's mind this time, he had a direct line by now. The boy was dreaming about nothing in particular and Wolf immediately changed it to suit himself. Jason was deep inside the caves Wolf called home, surrounded by the other vampires in his den. "Hello, Jason." He said as he had chains slowly wrap around the man's limbs.

Mal had hung up the phone, leaving the papers to be graded on his desk in the pile he'd left them in. So much for getting work done, but this was slightly more important. What the hell was Finn thinking? He showed up at Riley's door as promising, knocking and poking his head in. "You alright? I've already picked up his trail if you want to go now."

Sunday March 15th 2009

Who: Max, Rorie, Mal and Garret
What: Max is hosting dinner
Where: His room
When: Sunday night
Rating: PG 13

Despite how small the room was, Max had managed to make it passable. He liked Malcoda's house better, because the house had space and a kitchen and cookware, but he needed to prove to the humans and the elder that he could be a useful part of the pack. He missed his room, and the house, but he couldn't stay there anymore. He was a grown hound now and Malcoda insisted that he act like a human child to fit into the world up here. Well, he wouldn't. He was more grown and more strong than Rorie and Garret and he would not be the lowest member of the pack. Rorie and Garret weren't even hounds, and they didn't have to prove themselves to be higher up. It wasn't right.

But he wanted to provide for his humans, at least until he could maybe get some of his own. He loved Rorie and Garret and because he was a stronger pack member, he needed to care for them. And maybe if he provided for Malcoda as nwell, one day he might even surpass as Alpha. That thought made him very pleased indeed.

The bed had been moved to the middle of the room, a board placed over the bedframe as a makeshift table and the mattress propped against the wall next to the closet. Silverware, plates and glasses were lined up for everyone at four places around the table, and four large throw pillows sat on the floor around in place of chairs. The heavy cotton sheet used for a tablecloth was a dark blue, which (in Max's mind) made it look quite smart. He was very pleased with himself, pleased even more with the spread of food lined up at his desk- a hearty pot roast with carrots and potatoes, four little cups of homemade applesauce, a bottle of red wine (because the internet said pot roast needed red wine, not white) and for dessert, carrot cake (sadly store bought). It wasn't as impressive as the things Malcoda made the humans, but maybe they would like it anyway. It smelled delicious at least.

Hearing footsteps coming down the hall, Max yipped in excitement, flattened down his hair and ran to the door, opening it just before Rorie's knuckles could knock. "Hey! Hey!" he barked excitedly. "I have food! It's done and good and you can eat it!" Grabbing Rorie by the hand, he tugged him inside, leaving Mal and Garret to follow.

Who: Mal and Garret
What: Aftermath
Where: Garret's Rorie house
When: Morning
Rating: NSFW

Mal was alive. And he was hoping like hell that Garret didn't remember that rather embarrassing scene from when he was partially lucid, about what to do with his corpse. It wasn't likely the pathfinder would have forgotten, but Mal could be hopeful. Giving Garret a day to himself to catch up, Mal also took to time to finish getting his affairs in order. Mostly trying to figure out if he would hold classes or not for the next couple days. Quite a few students were still trying to deal with the aftermath of what had happened. Just as he needed to.

So the next morning, he was outside Garret's apartment. Mal didn't even bother to knock. He slipped right in and sniffed around, noting the man's location. Bedroom. A quick check proved that Garret was still sleeping, so Mal got to work in the kitchen. It was doubtful Garret had eaten much, so Mal was determined to feed him. It wasn't long before the rich scents of vanilla, cinnamon, maple, and bacon filled the air.
When Garret was tired, and hungry, and insulted, he could get a tad bit snippy. Much like Hera, Zeus' jealous and vengeful wife, could be a tad bit snippy. )

Who: Malakai and Hope
When: Evening
Where: At an underground bookstore off campus
What: A random run-in which leads to a discussion of a man they both love

Hope had only just learned about this place right before the whole fiasco that had turned her into a teenager and this week seemed like as good a week as any to check it out. Perhaps she would run across a text that would prove valuable the next time hell broke loose at TJS because, let's face it, it would happen again. Kicking snow off of her boots, the bell dinged gently overhead as she opened the door into the front of the bookstore. Here it all looked ordinary, but after hanging her coat and dusting snow out of her hair, she found the man she needed to see about getting into the vaults.

The vaults were all underground and she had heard they were vast and there were hundreds upon hundreds of ancient texts to be perused. The pathway down was rather cold and musky, but the vault itself was climate-controlled to protect the valuable contents. The door air-locked behind her as she was shown in and faced with rows upon rows of precious books. She had no idea where to even start.

Mal had been to this particular store in the past, finding it useful for information about various races.... )

Thursday: February/19/09

Who: Frankie and Malakai
When: Thursday night, late
Where: starting at the den where she works
What: A hellhound walks into a bar... (come up with your own punchline!)

Frankie had mixed feelings about being back at work. The place shut down during the blizzard, so it wasn't like she had been in any trouble for missing all those days. No one, not even vampires, wanted to be out in that shit. But now that life was getting back to normal, the undead were getting back to their routines as well. She got the call from her boss the night before, telling her she needed to get her butt back to work Thursday.

The best part about her job was the temperature. Because vampires weren't big fans of the cold either, the den was always delightfully warm. She relished the feeling. It was still horribly cold outside, and she wasn't looking forward to the end of her shift for that reason alone. Everything else about work pretty much sucked. Sleezy vamps kept hitting on her or trying to get her to let them feed on her. She did her best to keep everything Ava taught her in mind, pushing back when they got grabby, establishing that she was not the sort of woman they could fuck with. She even threatened them with with handfuls of flames when necessary. Most of the men found it amusing and backed off.

Tonight was especially rowdy though. It seemed the regulars were grumpy from being away for so long, and they were giving Frankie more grief than normal. Her feet ached from running like mad around in heels, trying to meet their demands. But then, without warning, her customers all got very nervous. A number of them were looking around with unmistakable fear in their eyes. Some even got up and hurried for the exit. Frankie had no idea what was going on until she saw a familiar face stroll into the den. Well then.. that was odd. A hellhound.

The sprite strolled over to him, feeling a little uncomfortable to run into someone she knew wearing her uniform, but Malakai had seen her naked, so she supposed this was considered a great deal of clothing. "You just scared away all my customers before they could tip me. Thanks a lot."

Who: Mal and Garret
When: Afternoon, after the power goes out
Where: Mal's apartment
What: Mal needs to have a serious talk with Garret

Mal woke up tired, groggy and shivering. Garret was doing his absolute best to keep the hounds in the apartment warm, but the power had gone out the day before, leaving everyone that much colder. Glancing around his bedroom, barely having the strength to raise his head, Mal noticed candles everywhere. Tiny flickering flames giving off light and the barest amount of heat. Somehow, Garret had started a fire in cast iron pans. Mal stretched out a hand to the bright gold, running his fingers through the warmth and feeling a bit of the cold dissipate. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep his arm up for long enough to really enjoy it. A tiny ball of fur shivered at his back; Max asleep and cold from whatever the hell infected most of campus.

Mal looked around, finally spotting Garret sitting at the edge of the bed, looking down the hall. "Garret," Mal croaked softly. his breath came shallow and harsh. This was what death felt like. He knew it.

Who: Garret, Mal and Max
What: Getting sick
When: After 8pm
Where: Mal's campus flat
Rating: PG

Max had been insistant that he, Mal and Garret go back to the houses at the same time, despite being told many times that Garret was going to be working until very, very late and Max would be asleep by the time he was ready to go. But Max had insisted, and since Mal had an apartment on campus (and therefore could easily let the pup fall asleep and then just bring him home), the hounds were on campus for awhile into Garret's shift. And then of course, the road leaving campus had been closed because of the snow, so they were stuck here anyway. Which suited Garret fine- after all, he could come visit them while he was on his rounds, and do one of his favorite things in the entire world- steal kisses while on the clock.

It was a little past eight when Garret phased through the front door, a big grin on his face. "Hellooooo?" he called, looking around for his boys.

"GRIT!!" Max had been determined to stay awake since Garret and Mal had told him that he probably wouldn't. Of course he would! He was big, and strong, and he could do anything! Getting up from the couch and bolting to the door, Max threw his arms around Garret in a tight hug. "Grit! Hey! I'm still awake see, because I'm strong!" He hopped backward a few steps, arms swinging wildly, energy coursing through him. This was great! Grit was here, and Mal was here and... and... And suddenly his tummy felt funny. And his head. It was weird, like something he had never felt before. A chill ran through him, making him cold. And then he threw up all over the floor.
