Sydni had pretty much given up on flowers for her wedding.  Getting the flowers she wanted in the short amount of time she had would have amounted to astronomical costs.  She settled on purchasing only her bouquet and a centerpiece for the head table.  It was really just a sweetheart table since she had decided not to have a bridal party.  She had thought about asking Frankie to be her Maid of Honor, but she knew that Mikhail did not have very many close friends.  Rather than choose someone haphazardly, she decided not to have a bridal party at all.  Instead of flowers, she had purchased battery operated tealights to be hung in little candleholders suspended from the trees near the ritual space.  The effect was rather like a starfield.  It worked better than the flowers for the nighttime ceremony.

On Monday evening, she took a walk around campus with Molly.  She was so happy, she had too much energy to expend, and Molly was more than willing to help her spend it.  Eventually she meandered upon a building she'd never noticed before - a greenhouse.  The flowers inside seemed absolutely brilliant, and Sydni couldn't resist going in.  "Oh," she exclaimed softly, time and again as one flower after the next startled her with its beauty.  Molly seemed intent upon eating them, but a firm 'no' kept the delicate petals safe.

"UNCLE CHARLIE!" Maggie squealed as she dropped her bag and sprinted across the lawn, away from car as her mother climbed out, and toward her godfather's outstretched arms. She jumped up and was caught mid air. One day, when Maggie was bigger, she'd end up knocking Charlie over, but for now, she was still a tiny thing that he could twirl around. Her legs swung in a circle as he spun and received lots of kisses. "Missed ya, Magpie," he said between smooches placed all over his face. Maggie was truly the sunshine in Charlie's life.

A whole week had passed and Daigo hadn't gotten back as many memories has he would have hoped. Some days were spent pacing in his room as if he was just waiting for them to return. Others were doing work, reading, looking over things he knew. Office things. He had rearranged all of his desk earlier in the week and had moved his way to his half of the room. Still no roommate in sight. It was...probably for the best. Daigo had grown accustomed to not having a roommate by now and, while he would have liked the company, Katie or his other friends who dropped by were enough. Living with someone was just not his thing anymore. Back in college? Sure. But now? No. Not unless it was Katie, who he only gave a spare bed because his really didn't fit two people comfortably side-by-side. Though, he was in the process of moving his bed up against the wall when he felt the start of a headache come on around 8PM.

Strange how those things just began. Sighing, he pulled some acetaminophen out of his desk drawer and took two pills with a drink of water. That done, he went back to work. The way his memories returned was bizarre. For a moment he felt empty, like a blank slate, and then suddenly, as if all at once, pictures were being drawn and a story written on his empty pages. So THAT was the headache. Damnit. Daigo put a hand on his forehead, took a deep breath, and waited a few minutes for the pain to pass. Headaches weren't uncommon, really, and he had learned to ignore it. A dull pain like this was really nothing to worry about--and that pain relief would kick in soon enough.

And then, like a light, the memories that had flooded back made sense! At first he frowned, as though wondering what had happened, then he grinned. Yatta! Daigo made for the door, pulling his t-shirt off over his head as he took a handful of long strides. Great cheetah paws hit the carpet and his clothes lay upon the ground. After circling the room to get his keys and school ID (they were attached on a lanyard, you see) he raced out of the door with his ears pricking at the sound of it slamming behind him. Out in the hall, his claws clicked the tile while he ran up the boy's wing, through the common area, and down the girl's wing until he reached Katie's room. He really hoped the door was open.

Peyton tucked in Lyle, looking down at the pathetic big kid. It was almost harder to love him now than it had been right after their fight and break up. He didn't know her anymore. He looked at her as nothing more than a mother figure, which was kinda sick and twisted. What if he was stuck like this forever? Would she be his mom for years to come? She loved him too much to abandon him. And while she knew he loved her, in his strange new way, it wasn't enough. She missed who he was before. She missed having him take care of her. She even missed arguing with him.

Earlier in the day, Peyton had chatted briefly with Katie. If Nox wasn't going to man up and do his damn job, it was good to know that his daughter was taking some sort of initiative. Katie had her memories in tact, which was needed right now. Plus, her devotion to family meant she cared a great deal about fixing this problem. Peyton didn't care about a ton of people in the school, but she cared about enough of them that she had to figure out a solution to restore sanity. Crazy was only fun if it was intentional.

Hearing a light knock on the door, Peyton's eyes went to Lyle, glad when he didn't stir. She got up and answered the door, immediately putting her finger to her lips and whispering. "We have to talk quiet... Lyle's napping." It was a full time job looking after Lyle. Peyton got brief breaks from time to time, thanks to her roommate. Summer had earned serious brownie points the last two days, and the girls were getting along much better as a result.

Peyton ushered Katie inside and motioned to Summer, "Hope you don't mind if she helps us. She doesn't have any memory loss either, and I figure we can use all the complete memories we can get."

Oh, the insanity.

It was rather entertaining, in a uniquely morbid way. There were people running to and fro without memories of who or what they were, people in love who should not have been, and just plain strange behavior. Whomever had done this was either a complete idiot, or some sort of twisted genius.

Aden stepped outside in the cold winter weather, quite pleased with himself for not being affected  (or at least, not that he could tell). It was quite folly to think that he could fix things by himself, or even fix things with the help of the few sane individuals left, so he barely bothered. Of course, he intervened if he thought someone was a danger to themselves or others, but mostly he just let them revel in their new little world.

He slowly took out a cigarette with his gloved yet nimble fingers, lighting it with a practiced ease. There was a boy quite a ways away, he observed while taking a nice long drag, and he appeared to be kicking the corner of the building like a lunatic. It was simple to slip into the boys mind, to be hit by the waves of anger and frustration, to sense the current instability in his emotions. It took merely a second to swap out the child's anger for joy, his frustration for contentment. It was unethical, yes. But he would rather be unethical than have the kid do something he would probably later regret.

The empath watched with a slight smile as the boy made his way up the stairs of the building he was just kicking, a pleasant little grin on his face. He heard footsteps behind him, and turned to satisfy his curiosity.

What: Katie, not wanting to deal with a new roommate after a bad day, gets offered a place to stay for the night.

It didn't take Daigo very long to step into his flip-flops and meander down the halls to the common area where Katie had found herself. Poor thing, too tired to even walk back to her room or over to his on her own. Though he was glad she was alright, Daigo was concerned about actions this guy might take later on. Was he the type to get revenge or have the want to break even with her? Hopefully not, because Daigo was not sure he could hold himself back if Katie was attacked a second time. While he was not really the fighting or aggressive type, he would not stand back and watch as his girlfriend got beat up. Or slandered. That guy better not even raise his tone to her--if he did, Daigo sure as hell better not ever hear about it. Words will be had. Sometimes Daigo even scared himself, back when he worked for the car company. He'd vaguely hear what he was saying to the opponent, how he was phrasing things, and did not really have to wonder why they gave in.

He was a mean, word-twisting jerk in the conference room. But that was just him doing his job, wasn't it? Daigo wasn't like that normally. Normally, as Katie and several others knew, he was a nice guy with a relatively fun personality.

Greeting Katie in the lounge as he approached, having been checking this way and that to make sure neither Starbuck or Georgette were about, he smiled and gave her a light kiss. "Lets get you to bed," he said quietly while taking her hands. "Can you walk?" he asked afterward, still smiling softly while rubbing the backs of her hands with his thumbs in slow circles.

What: Meeting each other

Katie woke up early on Saturday comfortably curled up with Daigo. She was feeling a lot better. Much more rested than the day before. She sighed happily as she curled into Daigo's arms. She rolled over and kissed him lightly. They lay together for a little while before getting up to start the day. She sighed fingering her clothes. She had to go back to her room to get a shower and change her clothes. Daigo was checking things on his computer, so she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before taking off. She walked slowly back to her room, hoping it wasn't to early to be going back. She didn't know her new roommate's schedule. She got to the room and unlocked the door, walking in quietly.

"Oh!" She said startled seeing the girl up on the computer,"You are up. Good. I didn't want to disturb you." Katie looked over the girl slowly. She was quite pretty and Katie felt like a wreak next to her. She went over to her closet looking for something to wear. She selected some clothes and turned to her roommate.

"I am sorry about yesterday. I was exhausted and having a bad day. I didn't want to take any of it out on you."

Oh gods she had really made a mess of everything. She did not think that this was the way she was going to be starting her day. Now there were more people involved than she had wanted be. She had intended for it to be a quiet conversation. How did everything go so wrong? She just wanted to crawl into bed and forget this day ever happened. Of course she couldn't she had gotten herself into this mess and now she had to deal with the consequences. The first consequence was on it's way over now. She didn't want to face Daigo, but she also really wanted him to be there with her. She was scared cause she still hadn't managed to pull herself completely together. she was still fuzzy along the edges. She slowly got up and walked to the door when she heard a sharp knock. She hadn't had time to change her clothes before coming here and was still wearing the short blue dress that she had started the day in. Her injuries were very very obvious against her pale skin.

She opened the door and stepped back to allow Daigo into the apartment. He took one look at her and started swearing in Japanese. He was looking at her injuries like he was making a list of things to take out on the other person and that was the last thing she wanted. Not really thinking she muttered, "Owari." Daigo stopped swearing and looked at Katie. "Nani?" He asked her. She flushed crimson and backed away wandering back to the couch. Great now she had also unthinkingly given away her surprise for him as well. This day was getting better and better.

Daigo followed her to the couch where he examined her burns a little closer. He touched each of the burns gently, as if trying to determine the extent of the damage. When he was finished with his inspection he sat next to Katie and kissed her. She kissed him back desperately. Finally breaking the kiss she curled into Daigo's chest. He put his arms around her and held her closely. They sat together like that waiting for Nox to return.

Katie turned off her computer feeling unsatisfied. She knew there was something bothering her father but he couldn't tell her what. She knew he was under a lot of stress and she didn't like it. Her only option was to go to who she figured was the source of most of his stress. That meant talking to Dante. She knew where his room was, she had seen him leaving one day when she was on her way to take the plants to Jacob. She hoped he could give her some insight as to why Nox was so stressed out lately.

She got dressed quickly, pulling on a dark blue dress that fell to her knees. She ran a brush quickly through her long hair. Satisfied she slipped on a pair of low heeled black shoes and headed out, locking her door behind her.

She worried slightly as she walked to Dante's room, she didn't want to disturb Roger, but there was always the chance that he was in control today. Well that was just a chance she had to take. She moved quickly through the dorm wings until she got to the boys G wing. She paused beside the door she had seen Dante leave from. Taking a deep breath she resolved to not leave until she had her answers, and to not let Dante intimidate her. Exhaling slowly she deliberately knocked on the door.

When Katie arrived at his room some time ago, he had been sitting at his desk with his laptop open to a page that took up the whole of the screen. It was a long document he had to look over for the company he once, and still (in theory) worked for. But it could wait, for when Katie appeared Daigo shut the computer and left it to sit quietly. He smiled while escorting his girlfriend into the room. A hand touched her waist while the other took her bag out of her hands. "It's heavy," he had said while putting it down on the bed for her.

"Do you want to sit or lay down?" he asked as professionally as he could, though he was grinning. Daigo could not help but let his playful side out when Katie came around. "You'll probably be more comfortable laying down. Though...I doubt you'll get much reading done?" Not that the readings for the course had been all that long, anyway. She could easily finish before he started the massage, but to be honest he didn't want to wait. It had been such a long time since Daigo had had a girlfriend that he forgot how handsy he could get sometimes. Lord. Save him. It was all he could do not to pull her close and kiss her like they had kissed on New Years. Not that that was a bad thing, but really? Wasn't that a little fast? He never knew how swiftly the woman wanted to go so he tried to just let things play out.

It was still difficult to wait patiently like a good boy.

He didn't know where he was, but that didn't matter. She was back. She was after him. He had to get away. He thought he was done with her. That she would have stayed at the manor and he wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. But she was back. He had woken up and found her standing over his bed, blood dripping from the hair that covered her face. Blood dripping down gashes all over her naked body. Blood dripping from...

There had been no time to think. He had leaped up and started running as fast as he could away from her. Somehow he had wound up in the tunnels. Now he had to get away. But it was useless. Around every corner, there she was, standing there. Drip, drip, drip, always dripping. Always covered by that hair. She wasn't more than seven, but she was the most terrifying thing he knew. Still he tried to run. It was all he could do.

As he rounded a corner his foot caught beneath him and he tripped. He slammed into the wall back first and wound up curled into a ball. For a moment all he could hear was his own breath. Then drip. Drip. Drip. He stayed curled until it was right beside him. Right on top of him. Until he could feel wetness on his hand. And then he screamed.

As expected, the school had turned the recreation center on its ear with awesomeness. What was once a place of pool tables and board games had become a frosty winter wonderland. The walls were decorated in classic Victorian Christmas fashion, a garland of evergreen and velvet ribbons strung along the ceiling, burning gas lamps filling the room with a soft glow. The refreshmant tables were draped in dark green tablecloths, shining silver platters and a sparkling crystal punch bowl serving finger foods and warm cider. Hot cocoa was available in perfectly polished silver pitchers. Classical Christmas music played through the stereo system, giving the room an old world feel. The most striking piece in the room, however, was the fifteen foot evergreen tree that took up the far back corner. Covered in ribbons, glass balls and tiny colored lights, it seemed to give off an ethereal glow. A brilliant white star topeed the display, a shining beacon that attracted the eye like moths to a flame. This was the room where students and staff could sit in overstuffed chairs, sip mulled cider and talk quietly, and simply bask in the glow of a warm winter evening.

For those who desired more kick in their Feliz Navidad, the basketball court upstairs looked like a disco Christmas- mirrored balls hung from the ceiling while strings of blinking colored lights hung corner to corner across the ceiling. Long strands of tinsel were draped over the table where the turntables were set up, the hired DJ playing typical dance club music. Whilst wearing a Santa hat, of course.

Outside, the grounds were still covered in the new snow that had fallen on Sunday, with a crisp fresh layer added courtesy of the ice mage faculty members. The outdoor pool was also frozen solid, and ice skates were available to borrow from the rec center gym. Paths were shoveled in the snow so students could walk from place to place, each path illuminated by white pillar candled placed inside frosted glass bulbs set along the footpaths.

Getting up at 8 o'clock that morning, as he did every morning, Daigo left his dorm room and walked down the hall in house slippers to the bathroom for a shower. He had a daily schedule of how he did things and, as usual, the shower took him about twenty minutes. Back in his room, once finished, he shaved at the small sink and mirror. Daigo liked to live as normal a life as he could despite his ability to change his appearance. He could have made those pesky hairs go away, but he thought he looked better shaven. Doing his hair as he liked it, styling with some gel, the Asian man dressed. Silver-gray shirt, a nice button-up with long sleeves and white buttons down the front and on the cuffs, and a pair of black slacks with a black belt slipped through the loops. From 9AM onward he ate and watched the news on the television until 10:50 rolled around. Getting into his black shoes, a businessman through and through, Daigo left the dorm to go meet Katie at the common room.

His car keys jingled as they hung from his index finger, winter jacket hung over an arm, he was set. Daigo was rather looking forward to finally meeting Katie in person. They had only spoken a bit online, but he rather liked her. She seemed like a nice woman that he would at least like to make friends with--he was glad to have asked her to the dance, nonetheless. Now Damien could not tease him for not having a date, and he might actually make a new friend out of it. Win-win.

Leaning against the couch in the living area, arms loosely crossed over his chest, he waited patiently for his company of the morning.

Saturday had been one of the longest days and nights of Nox's life. He discovered he had an adult daughter, spent some time getting to know her, invited her to stay in his home as long as she liked, got called away to work in the middle of the night, argued with a student, and came home to find his poor daughter sleeping on the couch with art supplies scattered around her. She woke up, and he pointed her in the direction of her room once more before finding his own bed and passing out. What a day!

It wasn't normal for Nox to sleep in, but he had been exhausted. By the time he pulled his body out of bed, it was nearly nine in the morning. It wasn't the sun that caused him to stir, because Nox kept his room blacked out from outside light. It wasn't even a matter of waking up because he had slept long enough. He woke up thanks to the smell of coffee and cooking eggs.

Nox threw on a robe over his boxers and plain white t-shirt and headed for the kitchen. When he arrived, he spotted Katie cooking. She was dressed, her hair wet from the shower he assumed, and she looked exceptionally cheerful. "Good morning." He looked around at the food she had just set out on the table. "You... cooked breakfast..." He didn't sound upset, just surprised. He glanced back at Katie and smiled at her. "Thank you."
