Finn had not been up to his usual par recently and Garret had made it very clear that he noticed. Things just hadn't been what they used to be. Rorie was gone for the weekend for himself and stuff. Finn wasn't included in much anymore. He was like a vase or Pete. Eck. His cat, Thing, had taken to ignoring him. Bastard. It was time to make a break from the routine of work and home. So, with no one else to go, he had dressed to go out that night. A pub in Danvers was having a live band with dancing and he figured a few girls would come in hopes of some dashing Irishman would be there to whisk them off to the Emerald Isle. Well. . . His room had green walls.

He was finishing up the last bit of trash as he got to one of the teacher's room. Knocking and coming in, he pulled the trash bin to the door so he didn't have to drag it in. "Just grabbin' the trash," he said in a small grunt. His outfit was not the typical janitorial and maintenance ensemble. It was nice dress slacks, black with white pin stripes. A wallet was tucked into his back pocket, a shiny chain dangling. White button up shirt with suspenders and a vest matching his slacks covered his top. An old time, gray fedora with a tiny red feather sat tilted on his head. The only thing that gave away that he was staff was the ID he had clipped to his vest pocket.

June was coming to discover that anything shiny and affixed to a wall, she did not like. She had yet to meet one of these shiny things that did not deal with water in some capacity. Humans seemed obsessed with it, water was everywhere. Wasn't it enough that it covered the majority of their planet, and it sat frozen all over the ground outside? They needed it inside as well? Strange, useless creatures. And now, in the bathroom, June found herself surrounded by shiny things that were affixed to the wall, all of them teasing her because they held power over her. Assholes. That was a good human word she had picked up, and she liked it. Assholes. Assholes. "Assholes," she told the sink, smirking triumphantly because she could talk and they couldn't, even with all their water. They would never talk. Like rocks. "Assholes," she told them again, and she kicked a sink for emphasis. And the porcelin broke, because she was much stronger than the average human and sinks weren't made for that kind of abuse, and the pieces fell onto the floor and the pipe bent and cracked and water went shooting out from it like a fire hydrant. And June screamed, loudly, then ran to the toilets and stood on one while the water covered the floor. And started barking at it.

Thankfully someone had heard all the ruckus, and she came to see what had happened (and screamed) and then ran off to find someone on maintenance. She practically ran right into Finn in her search, and she was so freaked out she almost didn't recognize him at first. But she did, and panic flew over her face, and she backed away a few steps. "Um... t-there's... in the bathroom... water," she stammered. "And a girl... barking." Then quickly started walking off back to her room, getting herself away from the scary janitor.

Finn was in a mood. Which as of lately was a lot. There was no one specific reason, just a bunch piling up. Then getting mugged for his last bit of money till he got paid kind of put him off even more. He was bitchy and pissy and now with Garret being his usual douche self was not helping. So, he left the older man on the computer demanding to know what he was talking about and went to the kitchen for a fresh ice pack instead of the melted gel that was ace bandaged to his ribs that were sporting a hefty looking bruise that matched his black eye and split lip. "Stupid, fuckin', retard," he grumbled as he tossed the used one back into the fridge and pulled out the new one. Shirt draped over the counter, he quickly bandaged himself back up before slipping it on, not noticing anything out of the ordinary.

Lucas had just been considering going down and raiding the student kitchen for something to eat when he'd received the text from Finn. Sure, he was using the witch as an escape mechanism, but Lucas didn't honestly care--a beer was a beer, and if it gave the other guy a break then so much the better.

Given that all he had to do was walk downstairs, he beat Finn to their agreed meeting point; all he'd had to do was pull a jacket on and make sure he had his wallet before he was ready. The crunch of feet on pavement had him looking up, and he nodded before straightening away from the wall he'd slouched against. "Hey. So where're we going?"

Seemed something was bound to break at some point. After all, it was a large school and he seemed to be super handy man. His job was a relief though. It kept him busy, body and mind, so he wasn't all over the place with nothing to do at least. He didn't wear the usual janitorial jumpsuit. Last thing he needed was someone throwing a Michael Myers mask at him and completing the whole look. Besides, he was Freddy Kruger. With his bag of tools thrown over a shoulder, a thick and worn pea coat keeping him warm while he jogged the cleared sidewalks to the older students dorms. A broken sink was bringing him to the dorms this time around. Everything was updated, but every now and then there were pieces that needed fixing. Like a sink that is clogged with God knows what. Eck.

Making his way up the stairs, he slid his pack off his shoulder before shedding his coat. A name badge was hanging around his neck to make sure that everyone knew he was staff and that he was okay. He'd had a few freak outs, but nothing major. He was painfully aware of what the majority of the student body thought of him and he didn't care. Finn was there to do a job and make sure that he got his life back on track. Not to make it seem like he was a normal, well balanced man. Besides, who was these days? Grabbing up his pack and coat, he shifted and knocked on the door.

"Maintenance," he called.

What was once a place of learning had quickly been transformed into an almost unrecognizable playground. The staff, as they had done at the back to school mixer, had gone to great lengths to create a Halloween Party that would make any but the most stubborn of people leave their problems back home. From the commons room, to the facilities, to the very grounds themselves, everything was being utilized to provide the most extravagant celebration many of the new students would ever have seen.

The commons room was being utilized as a cinema for the evening, playing a mixture of classic, and modern horror movies, from Frankenstein and the Wolf man, to the recently released remake of Halloween. There was also a list so students could make requests if there wasn’t enough interest in any of the movies being shown.

As per the last celebration, their were many areas for students to enjoy a wide variety of music, with a techno style dance club in the dance studio, complete with lack light and disco balls and a personal DJ. The pool was filled with floating candles and flowers, with soft music produced by a string quartet wafting through the room, and the music room was home to a small dance floor which was driven by a man playing graceful classic tunes on the piano.

In the lounge of the rec hall, there were various games for any willing participants, including bobbing for apples, and a game where you could supposedly tell the first initial of the person you were destined to marry by how the skin fell when peeling an apple. There were also fortune tellers and palm readers, real of course. After all, in a school that catered to such gifts, it was easy to stir up a few willing participants. There was also a wide variety of Fall themed treats, not only candy but also traditional pumpkin stuffs, and other like dishes.

However, the main attraction was a haunted house trail that ran the length of the grounds, and which had a few special surprises put in place by the staff. Though, of course, the goal wasn’t to completely terrify the students, it certainly would not be your normal haunted house trail, and there was a posted sign warning those less brave of students to not risk the terrors that awaited within.
