[phantom door]

[Midnight, and the Opera House is silent. No one, or so it seems, notices the carriage which pulls up discreetly on the street outside nor the man who exits. The driver, once he regains consciousness much later, can provide little detail of what occurs next. He is knocked out from behind, dragged away from the scene and left in a darkened alleyway. The horses are freed, spurred into galloping away and disappearing into the night.

The fire begins with a small flame which quickly spreads, consuming the carriage and turning it into a blazing inferno which lights up the darkness. Soon a crowd gathers to watch, until the flames are doused and all that is left is smoke and charred, blackened remains.

Later that day, during rehearsals within the Opera House, another event of note occurs. In the middle of a scene multiple heavy backdrops crash down upon the performers, injuring some and frightening all present, while costumes and props are discovered destroyed in the back rooms. It is no accident, and whispers of the Opera Ghost travel in the dormitories and up and down the corridors throughout the day.]

[Door Update: Phantom of the Opera]

[The Paris newspapers are filled with the news that was released Friday afternoon, and the streets are abuzz. The Opera House, which had been closed for some time and suffered a fire in the recent months, will be reopening under new management. Vicomte Raoul de Chagny has reportedly taken a more active role in the Opera House, stepping up from being a patron of the arts to owner. He tells the press that he is excited to bring the Opera House back to its glory, and hopes to open to a sold out house later this summer.]

[Door update: Phantom of the Opera]

[Saturday, the metal that covers the Phantom door is pried off. It's clearly done using muscle and inexperience, but it works, inelegant as it may be. The door is visible once more, even if the walls around it look a mess initially, with exposed beams and crumbling plaster. The hall remains littered with scraps of metal and bolts, but the door goes back to its regularly scheduled programing.]

[Door Update: Phantom]

[Tuesday, the Phantom door is covered with a large sheet of metal. The metal is a mishmash of materials, and it has whorls designed into the thick surface. It's gloomy, for all that, and it extends past the ends of the door and is welded into the foundation beside. Behind it, the door can be heard to change and shift, if its owners near it, but there is no way to access it without unwelding the seam.]
