[Monday morning, two witnesses in the shooting of Sam Alexander identify Iris Morgenstern as the shooter in a photo lineup. Police bring Morgenstern down to the station near the lunchtime hour, and they conduct a physical lineup, where the two witnesses both pick Iris Morgenstern out as the shooter. Morgenstern is arrested immediately on charges of attempted homicide, and warrants are obtained to enter her rooms at the mental facility in search of the murder weapon and clothing with gun residue present. The police conference indicates that the Morgenstern has been charged, and that the charges will be upgraded to homicide if Alexander does not survive. Medical personnel from UMC hospital state that Alexander survived surgery, and that doctors will attempt to reduce the medication maintaining the drug-induced coma and remove the ventilator in the coming days, to see if the patient responds favorably. Until that time, outcome is uncertain.]

[After Iris is arrested and charged. Oh, so public.]

[Late in the day on Monday, as if he somehow knows what's happened on the other side of the door (though of course that is impossible), a little white dog makes his way through Gotham. He is surprisingly good at avoiding trouble, and manages to make it to a certain apartment building without much of a problem (only a few breaks to rest.

Being so tiny, he's able to slip in nearly undetected when someone else opens the front door, and though it's a challenge, he manages to make it to the apartment that Eddie and Steph share, following the familiar scent from the funeral home. He barks twice outside their door and then sits, patiently, waiting.]

[The flowers come on Monday. Delivered to Samantha Alexander's hospital room, the attached envelope proclaims they are for both Samantha and Neil Donovan. The card inside is simple, a spray of flowers and a handwritten message in a loping scrawl that might be familiar. "My thoughts are with you and yours during this difficult time." They come delivered from a local shop, and any questions as to the identity of the sender are passed off with the explanation that they wished to remain anonymous, and they are unable to provide any name. Paid for in cash, there is no receipt to trace them back to the sympathetic party.]
