Rowan's first day at school as a repeat-senior was nowhere near as bad as she had thought it would be. Of course, it was still absolutely terrible, but she'd managed to get through it with no more permanent damage. There had been lots of jokes in the halls of course, and even more at gym, and at some point in the day someone had managed to fill her entire locker with dozens of boxes of bandaids and bandages of all kinds. That had been kind of a pain to clean up, but actually rather useful as well. It had meant to bother her, but those things did get pricey.

The rain was a massive pain in her ass. By the time she rode her bike from school to the bar she was absolutely drenched, and felt as if she would never be dry again. She was late for her shift, and she just knew she'd catch hell for that, but it couldn't be helped. She ditched her bike near the back dumpster and hurried in the back door, yanking her apron on over her head as she hurried to punch in. Then she hurried out to the bar.

She didn't have a single table. She skidded to a stop and looked around, blinking stupidly at the nothing that awaited her. The bar was never crowded, really - unless the demons were about, then the vigilante groups met here and sometimes she helped out with that. But she'd never come in and had not a single customer. She turned around to see who was working the bar. "Where is everyone?"

Regina was a lot happier lately, and she had reasons for it. Although she had not yet seen her son - at least not upclose and personal - she and Clive had been getting things back on track and it felt great. Being the first day of class Clive was at the school, and since Regina had the evening shift at the restaurant she thought she might as well hit the mall to do some shopping - there was only so much clothing from the 80s one could recycle after all - and then hit the candy shop. Unlike most people Regina had about as much sugar when she was happy as when she was depressed, perhaps even more.

With two bags of newly purchased clothes hanging from her wrist, she made her way to the candy shop where she was sure she would spend a long time. There was everything there and Regina had no idea where to begin choosing from. It was with a wide smile and wide eyes that she roamed about the shop, picking up ridiculously big lollipops, gummy creatures of all kinds, shapes and colors, some sugary some not, and all else she could get her hands on. Pretty soon her first bag was full, and she needed another one. It was good to be an angel and not be affected by things such as cholesterol and diabetes, thought Regina. Otherwise her life would be that little bit sadder.

Yes, she needed to go to work, but her boss had requested that she look into help with the baby once the child was born. It wasn't like she could just set up a small crib in the kitchen and take care of her child between tables. It was a blast of reality that she hadn't considered more than the flitting thoughts at the book store a few days earlier. There was no way she would be able to work full time, which she needed to do, and take care of her baby, which she also needed to do. It was enough to make her head spin and she had gone home the night prior and wanted to cry. She had made it this far; this was not the time to completely meltdown. After looking at some ads in the phone book, she settled on checking out Little Miracles today.

When she arrived, she liked what she saw. Her hand rested on the large bump and she rubbed it, thinking if she should go in or not. The idea of letting someone else have her child for large portions of the day worried her. Who knew what could happen? She had horrible thoughts of Piotr coming to take her son or daughter and possibly hurt the little one. It was enough to make her sick because she knew he would do something like that to her. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and went inside. She was just getting information. She didn't have to do anything with said information.

WEATHER: A hard rain starts just in time to drench every student who has to wait at the bus stop, and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

EVENTS: Amazingly enough, something happens to knock the vampire-student off of the front page. Yesterday, a child and her dog were attacked by a vampire right here in Scarlet Oak. The child, 9-year-old Kristen Peloe, is the sister of local reporter Missy Peloe. Kristen is reported to be scared, but did not require hospitalization. It is not known if the child was fed upon. Police are on the look-out for a red-eyed vampire, going by the name Eloisa. Anyone with any information about this vampire are urged to call local police. Due to this terrifying experience, police are heavily patrolling the school neighborhoods.

Yes, that’s right, school starts today for all Scarlet Oak public school students. And despite the vampire attack being the main news of the day, the vampire high school student is nowhere near forgotten. A small band of protestors attempt to picket the school in the morning, and are promptly lead off by police. Despite increased security, someone still manages to do something surprising on the high school property during the school day. Sometime between 1 and 2 PM, fliers are left on the windshield of all cars in the high school parking lot. Willing to pay for information on student vampire. An e-mail address is listed, and police are looking into the matter.
