We didn't start the fire
Who: Clive and Lily
Where: SOHS
When: Midday
There was a vampire at the high school. The thought shouldn't bother Clive, and it didn't, but that didn't mean that he wasn't thinking about it. He was the last person who would want to see an innocent person exposed for something they couldn't help, especially if they hadn't done anything wrong. He did worry about his students' safety, but then again, someone could bring a gun into school and they'd be in the same amount of danger. Clive had dealt with people that close to the edge before, and he had no desire to do so again, and not in his classroom.
He just kept coming back to one thing: His Regina was here, and Regina was an angel. He'd seen her wings to prove it. If she was real, then who was to say that the rest of it wasn't, too? Regina even told him that he, too, had an angel somewhere in his ancestry and that bloodline continued to this day. The times were changing around him, history in the making. He acknowledged that, he tried to accept it as best he could, but that didn't mean he was about to let it rule his life. The worrying could wait until later.
So, it was business as usual for him and the first day of classes went off without much of a hitch. Clive had a way of silencing most of the chatter once he started talking, and on the first day, most students paid attention. The ones who didn't - the ones who reminded him most of himself when he'd been that age - were the ones he would figure out how to handle, given some time. Here his temper was mostly under control. Leaning back against his desk, book in one hand, he looked out over his students again. "So, tonight's homework is to read through Chapter 1 - I promise it's short," he said, once he heard students start groaning. "Take good notes, we'll be discussing it tomorrow." The bell rang above him, "And that's it for today. If you've got any questions, you know where to find me."
With a little smile, he turned back towards his desk, gathering up his papers and watching the students file out.
