congregate, lay in wait for an answer, they're still waiting.

Who: Harrison.
Where: Harrison’s apartment.
When: Friday October 16th 2009. Very early morning, around 3am.

To say that Harrison was having trouble sleeping with all of this going on would have been an understatement. Ever since everyone had -- so it seemed -- gotten their memories back after the collapse of whatever magic had removed them in the first place he had been unable to sit still long enough to rest, let alone sleep. It wasn’t that he’d tried, he had of course, but when his mind was going a mile a minute over all the possibilities it wasn’t something he was able to achieve and so he’d taken to being an almost constant presence on his part of the site. The questions were flooding in after he’d made it known that something out of the ordinary had happened, that he’d not only been witness to it but actually felt it himself, and people were fascinated enough that a lot of them entered into hours-long conversations with him via the forums.

With his empty coffee cup in hand -- not quite empty, in all honesty, and he was careful not to accidentally tip the dregs onto the floor as he carried it -- he made his way from the lounge area towards the adjacent kitchen, swiping his other hand over his face as he went. It was as he was trying to get a crick out of his neck that he caught sight of something lying on the mat on the inside of the front door, something that must have come through recently but without making too much in the way of noise. He would have heard it otherwise. Wouldn’t he?

Stretching out he set the mug down on the edge of the counter just inside the kitchen and then approached the envelope that had come through his letterbox. It was cautiously but curiously that he did so, dark eyes lifting to the door itself periodically as if he expected someone on the other side to knock at any moment. They didn’t. )

TIME UPDATE

DATE: Friday, October 16, 2009

BIRTHDAYS: No Birthdays Today!

WEATHER: The rain is lingering today, so expect consistent downfall throughout the day. The temperature has also taken a dip, so bundle up if you go out at all.

EVENTS: It isn’t wrong to say that there’s a tension in the air amongst the citizens of Scarlet Oak. Most people are trying to get back to their lives -- the proper ones, warts and all. Others, understandably, are missing the peace that came from the spell. Was this all a trick, and if so, was it a particularly harmful one? There’s still a lot of questions and not nearly enough answers. One thing is certain, lots of people are upset about the existence of a race who can alter reality.

A little after nightfall, letters are delivered throughout town to all known liberal and investigative journalists in the Scarlet Oak area. Inside the unlabeled manila envelope, which were slid under doors or dropped into mail slots, are several dozens of pictures. Most of them are photographs of couples, similar to the elderly couple spotted in town before the high school incident, wearing odd clothing and bouncing around balls of light. There were also a few pictures of other pairs: pairs of children, twins, more couples. The only difference is that though they seemed to be engaged in an activity of some kind, there is nothing out of the ordinary about them. Along with the pictures comes a note that reads simply: “How much do we know? And how much aren’t they telling us?” It’s obvious that the letter is meant to be fodder of some kind, but to what end?

The police certainly don’t appear to be at a loss for things keep them busy. Another murder has been added to their ongoing investigations. Sometime after midnight, the body of Elise Saunders was found. It was quickly determined by the coroner that she was drained by a vampire. Throughout the day, as the body was processed and the family was notified, the police struggled to keep this detail under wraps. However, as has been the unfortunate case recently, there are those who are all too happy to reveal the misdoings of the supernatural community to the media. Local news outlets and papers with access to the information are running the story. Nothing has been done yet, and it’s unlikely that drastic measures will be taken over a single death, but this is just one more log to add to the fire of unrest that the human community has been burning against supernaturals since their unveiling in May.
