[ Eight lectures. He's starting to get warmed up by now and despite the rather startling meetings during the newcomer flood the day before, Reid is surprisingly calm and confident. ]

Before we begin, I'd like to take a moment to welcome Artemis Crock as our new TA. She's been informed about the content of today's lecture beforehand and will be helping you with the assignment, as well as fill you in on past lectures should you have missed them.

Alright! Let's get started.

In today's lecture… Socio- and psychopaths. Standard cw applies  )

Class 004: Day 228 : Vampires-Guest Lecture

[info]notamasochist
[info]marinanova
[He'd been debating starting a class of his own of some sort when Sam had asked him to guest lecture. The topic was an easy--if not somewhat controversial--one for Zero to tackle. His views aren't exactly agreed upon by everyone, no matter how much they have changed during his time in Marina. Zero has been in the facility for longer than almost everyone else, remembers his entire stay, and has interacted with vampires from almost every world--even if he was one of the only ones to know they were a vampire. More importantly, he takes a personal interest in each of their home worlds and how everything works.

He's even befriended more than a few of them. Lives with and is sort of dating one.

He also kills them for a living and is known in the facility for his hatred of them--all while secretly being one of them.

He looks around the room at the number of attendee's for the popular subject. Controversial indeed.]

I wonder how many of you showed up just out of curiosity to see me be the one to do this lecture?

[He pushes away from the desk and moves to the white board. Uncapping a marker, Zero scribbles a single word across the surface before beginning. VAMPIRES.]

[ time for round two! put em up, marina. chilly weather isn't stopping tox.

piter, though somewhat subdued due to recent events (nearly dying can put a damper on one's mood), is getting back to his usual weird self. this entails being rather exuberant about chemicals that kill people. it's a happy, safe classroom environment all around— and sure to be a good lecture is one on arsenic, one of those classic poisons that most everyone has heard of.

Class 003 : Day 224 : Werewolves

[info]tallerthanthou
[info]marinanova
[Sam is a little nervous about today's class. The first two were easy enough. As far as he can tell there are no "real" ghosts in the prison and definitely no wendigos. Werewolves on the other hand? There's definitely one and he considers him a friend. He'd be lying if he said he didn't also consider him a threat. After all it wasn't that long ago he hurt Martha and maybe others when the prison played with their emotions. It wasn't Oz's fault, but it happened and it could happen again. It was something that resonated with him considering the way things ended with the subject of his case study.

If the teacher looks a little more affected by this particular lesson than he was by the first two, it's because he is. It's personal, but the fact that it can be a threat here makes it all the more important to get the information out there.]

Today's subject is werewolves. Before we start, I just want to remind everyone of the basics. I'm providing information researched in my world. It may or may not apply to any other werewolves you meet at home or here.

[ There's a sense of calm professionalism over the young Doctor today. Sure, there's tentacles in the sky and he's not sure where he's standing with his BAU family just yet but that's what work is for. To be a refuge when everything else is unsure. Very good, very good. [ he has settled into room 218 of the educational center as much as a man like piter can settle anywhere, and is watching people file in with fingertips together and pressed to his lips. when the clock strikes two o'clock, he gets up from behind the desk and strides to the front of it, whiteless eyes sweeping over the room. ]

Class 001 : Day 214 : Ghosts — Woman in White

[info]tallerthanthou
[info]marinanova
[Sam looks out over his fellow inmates, now students, wondering—again—if this was a good idea. He wanted to increase his stream of rehabilitation points "income" and this seemed like a plan. Good or not, here he comes. He clears his throat and gives them a smile.]

I should probably start by explaining what this class is about. It's Paranormal Studies which can include a lot of different things, and I'm going to be using my own world and experiences as a base. I know things can work differently in different [Micropause] versions of the world and on different worlds [For all you aliens in the audience.] so we'll talk about that too.

Some of the topics we'll cover might go into sensitive territory. There are people here who might fit into the subject of paranormal activity. That doesn't mean everything I'm going to say will fit those people. If there is one thing I've learned it's that there is always more to know, and life can always surprise you.

This class isn't about hunting. It's about education, and I think we can all learn. You'll probably have a lot to teach me too. [His eyes may linger on a couple of students before he turns around to write, "Ghosts" on the board.]

Lecture: Ghosts : Woman in White )

Questions & Discussion
That was already a lot, so who has questions and who wants to talk about their experiences?

(OOC: Mingle style. Notifs are off so tag Sam during class with questions or catch him before or after. Use your discretion with the links provided. Sam didn't necessarily cover every detail, but feel free to bring more into it. He will have additional ghost lectures though, so he wouldn't have gone into detail on poltergeists for example or given multiple case studies.)

[ There's something subdued about the young Agent this day. Something subtle, brewing just under the surface that makes the deliverance of today's lecture just a little more mechanical than usual. He seems fine, well-rested and healthy and fine and yet…

He hasn't confirmed it yet, but he suspects. It's been too quiet for too long. Maybe after class he'll muster up enough courage to go knock on their Unit Chief's door and see if they really lost him again but for now he has a job to do. ]

[Day 207][Action | Mingle] Advanced Technology Class

[info]kitty_has_claws
[info]marinanova
[Kitty has been teaching Advanced Technology for awhile now, but it feels like students in this "school" are an ever rotating thing, so she tries to keep classes self contained. She's also not much for lectures, so most classes are about practical demonstrations or problem solving. She didn't have a lot of formal training herself. Technology is just something she's always had an affinity too. Genius level, but in this dome you can throw a stick and find that it seems. Still, she had a lot of practice fixing and adapting various machines. Her world didn't exactly have repair people or tech support to call anymore. You're lucky to find some looted shell and put something together with it. That's what today's lesson is about.

Everyone will walk in to find some kind of machine on every desk. It might be a computer, toaster, clock, DVD player, segway, etc. Pick your desk and your poison. There's also a set of basic tools up front. Share nicely, kids.]

They're all broken. By the end of class, they won't be. Figure it out. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves.

(OOC: You can assume your character has been to this class many times before or it's their first time. Mingle format, so just tag yourself in and tag your fellow classmates. You can talk to Kitty here.)

207 ✝ Criminology Class ✝ Open to All

[info]bloodcakedarmor
[info]marinanova
[It’s Criminology Class time! And standing at the front of the class is not Doctor Spencer Reid. Nope. It’s Derek Morgan. He’s even sort of dressed up for the occasion in what he’d usually wear to the office back home, nice dress pants and a dress shirt. He looks completely confident up there, used to speaking in front of groups of people even if he usually has the support of other members of the BAU with him. This time he’s alone. And he’s okay with that. Reid asked him to do this next class and Derek was happy to oblige.]

Alright, let’s get this thing going. [It’s said loud enough to be heard among the chatter of the attendees. Once it’s quiet, he offers up one of his most charming smiles at the room.] As you can probably tell, I’m not Doctor Reid. But for those of you who don’t know, he and I work together back home where I’m Supervisory Special Agent Morgan. Here in the prison I’m just Derek Morgan. You can call me Derek or Morgan. Just none of that Mister stuff or you’ll make me feel old. Here in the prison I run the Investigative Team on the Defense Force and patrol Sector One. Anyway, Reid’s asked me to teach this class on one of my areas of special interest, obsessions… or more accurately, crimes of obsession. So let’s get started.

[ It's a good thing this class is only an hour long, with how antsy Reid is today. With Hotch showing up you'd think that he'd have better things to do but their fearless leader will need some time to adjust and Morgan seemed to be on that, so the class will be on like scheduled. It's a good enough distraction, even if it's all too obvious that his mind is on other things when he isn't talking about victimology.

Good thing there's a roleplay session planned. He probably won't be able to keep his concentration for the full hour anyway. ]

Day 194 | Video and Action

[info]kitty_has_claws
[info]marinanova
As part of my punishment I need to give a lecture. I figure I'll do it on the Defense Force. So, if you want to know more about that. Check it out this afternoon at the educational facility in lecture hall three. Open to all. [Not you, Tyki.]

[Video | Encrypted to Defense Force]
We've got ourselves some new digs. Still in sector two and not too far from the educational center, but free standing. It's one of those many empty building set up around the place. It looks like it was designed to be something retail, but I figure we can make it work. I've already found some dividers. Talk to me if you have experience building actual walls or magic wall-generating abilities.

Team leaders, I've got an idea of where I think things need to go, but I want your input.

Rebecca, you're in charge of getting dispatch relocated.

Zatanna, I want you to put in some security measures like we talked about before.

We've also been losing people to the dimensional stabilizer, so Derek is temporarily also a sector team leader. [Sorry, Peter.] He's already got a position though, so if there is anyone else looking to step up, let me know. Also, Faith will be taking over her sector. Teams are a little unbalanced right now, but instead of moving people to new assignments, let's just make it a thing that the largest teams check in with the smallest ones to help cover the sectors. When we get new people or returning people back they'll fill up again.

Questions?

[Action | Lecture]
[It isn't her first time teaching, so she's pretty comfortable at the front of the room going through her notes. The hardest part was deciding what to talk about publicly and what not to mention. The force has always been something of a topic for debate. Those present might notice she's wearing her large, metal wrist gauntlets again thanks to Zelgadis. It covers up the blue band at her wrist and they have claws inside! But if all the boys and girls are good they probably won't get popped during class.]

Lecture notes: This is what she covered! Feel free to mingle! )

(OOC: Join the DF. Roster. Talk to me if you have any concerns/questions about anything! I turned notifs off for the mingle portion, so please tag under the subheads so I don't miss anything!)

[ Nor rain, nor sleet, nor a creeptastic invasion of glitch-induced ghosts will keep the Criminology Class from having its first, official lecture.

Reid's been planning for this for weeks but something always seemed to come up — until today. He's spent the morning posting flyers about the class with carefully highlighted information about the where and when and now he's left waiting, anxiously rifling through his notes. Lecturing is nothing new, he's done it regularly for years but this is somehow different. This is with people he knows, about subject matters he's been relatively quiet about.

He straightens up once people start filtering in, soon falling into the comfort of the professional. The lecture may begin. ]
