Nic was not drunk. Not entirely. He had been drinking, yes, but so had the rest of the staff. They might have been at the party in town instead of walking around on campus, but that wasn't the point. He wasn't harassing students, he was just walking around. And watching his breath in the cold night air, and laughing at how the puffs of vapor looked close to when he exhaled the cigarette smoke form his lungs.

As he drew closer to the recreation center, Nic had enough sense to sit himself beneath a tree and not go inside. Just in case he was drunker than he should've been and would present himself poorly in front of the students.

The lower level of the recreation room held a spread of food to satisfy all palettes. Vegan, sweet tooth or vampire, there was something for everyone, buffet style and spread over every available foot of space. On the upper level was a massive, multi-room spread dance floor with thumping bass and flashing lights. The indoor track catered more the the college students, with club music and fewer decorations, and the ones it did have would creep out death himself. In the basketball court, high school students would find spooky decor and pop music and a well lit environment to ensure that all hands stayed where they belonged. Chaperones mingled throughout the dance rooms, keeping watch over the students and making sure the college students didn't get drunk and that the high school students didn't sneak into the college dance.

Of course, it's almost impossible to keep watch over everything all the time...

Who: Declan and Garret
What: A forced conversation (and sexy times)

It took about three minutes of looking at the computer and mulling it over before Garret decided to track Declan down outside and get some answers. Since when had he decided that he wanted to go home? Making a decision to move back to Ireland was huge, and Declan didn't make decisions like this on a whim. So what brought this about all of a sudden?

As Garret strode over the grounds, looking for the telltale pile of clothing that said Declan was shifted and getting his roots into the soil, he thought about if he had been neglecting his friend. It was likely- when Garret got caught up in himself, he tended to neglect things. People, mostly. Maybe Declan thought that he wouldn't really be missed when he left.

Finally, Garret spotted the tidy pile of clothing, and a few yards away he saw the very familiar dryad in his natural, arbor form. "So, I have to assume that Irish soil is somehow better than American soil, hmm?" he said, making his way over and settling himself at the base of Declan's trunk, resting his back against him. "That's got to be the reason you're abandoning me."

( I thought we told each other everything. I didn't see this coming, though. )

Jack was beginning to become a little worried about Li. He had been drawing more into himself and it was turning into something she recognized before. Li only talked to the ghost and not so much the people and had a hard time paying attention in the medium class he was in. So, she did was she thought she should do. Go to Fisher.

Leaving the younger medium to do write in his journal about whatever depressing thing he was writing about, Jack went to where she knew the older man would be. Hiding in his office during lunch. "Fisher," she said, walking in. "I think we need to talk."

Who: Declan and Garret

It was probably midnight, maybe later, when Garret climbed out of bed and padded his way out into the hallway, unable to sleep. He gave Pais enough water and food to last the night, though he neglected to put on a tee shirt before leaving the apartment. He didn't know how long he'd be gone, so he didn't bother bringing anything with him. He didn't even bother with shoes. Life was weighing heavily enough on his mind to keep him warm enough in the chilly night.

He phased through the familiar door, like he had thousands of times before, never knocking and rarely with prior notice. Not that he thought Declan would mind. Declan never minded, not even in the middle of the night, not even when Garret just talked to him and ran on a marathon of words, his lips never stopping as he worked through a problem. Not even, hopefully, as he climbed into bed beside the sleeping dryad (thankfully not a tree this evening) and forced his way into the other's arms, forehead resting on Declan's chest.

Maggie was excited. With Nathaniel's abilities, he could probably shift just like her, and then she'd have someone to run around with as a moose. It would be fun! She didn't think it would be too hard to transform into a moose. They weren't all that different looking from big deer, and she could do a deer. Sadly, the females didn't have cool antlers, but that was okay. She'd still have fun.

She threw on some loose sweats and flip flops, stuff that was easy to strip out of, because she had to get naked when she shifted. Then Maggie hurried to Nathaniel's room. She knocked and called to him, "It's Maggie!" The blond was feeling extra bouncy, totally ready to get out and run around.

Who: Lyle and Peyton
What: Popping in for an unexpected visit

It was a pretty typical day, but not a typical week, for Lyle. On Monday Fisher had called him to tell him that his ex girlfriend had released a new album and apparently it was "the grittiest chunk of true emotion since Adele set fire to the rain". On Tuesday, someone from some crappy no-name tabloid had called Lyle to ask him about not his brother's nuptials, which was his first assumption, but his relationship with Peyton Billings. Then four hours later someone from a well known tabloid called asking for similar information. And then another called, and another. And then on Wednesday there was a handful of letters, all wanting his side of the story about a relationship that had been dead for ten years.

Frustrated, and annoyed, and a little worried that media snooping might blow the lid off TJS, Lyle called the record company that was representing Peyton and, with a good amount of lying and false names, he got through to her publicist's voicemail. He demanded that they retract the statement, or at the very least lie and say that the person she named wasn't him, and to tell Peyton that he was at "the school" and this attention was going to, quote, "fuck this little world". He hoped that she would at least care enough about the people here to not want that to happen.

Thursday seemed promising, since only two media morons had called him and he had hung up on them both. Hopefully it would just blow over. The less he had to think about this, the better he'd be. So he was busy with grading papers and making notes about which students were understanding the material, which weren't, and which were just too thickheaded to be helped. When a knock came to the door Lyle didn't think much of it, so he answered while skimming over his text book. And then he flat out dropped it, and his jaw, when he saw who was standing on the other side of the door.

Who: Brad and Peter

Since last week, Brad had been thinking about his night with Peter, and about what had happened before they went out. He had been thinking a lot about Lloyd, too, and where that was going, and what he had concluded was that he was thinking too much and he needed to just do something about it. If he was thinking so much about Peter, then he should see if it went anywhere with him. After all he wasn't married to Lloyd, and it wouldn't be cool for him to just write Peter off just because of someone else. So he would take him out, and see where it went (if it went anywhere).

He tried his best to be prompt, but Brad wasn't really the "prompt" type so he was running a few minutes late when he did finally show up at Peter's door, straightening his jacket and checking that he had his wallet and his lip balm in his pockets. Giving a quick rap with his knuckles, he checked his breath, then took in a slow lungful of air. This was going to be fun. No pressure, no need to worry. He and Pete always had fun anyway, so even if there wasn't any chemistry tonight, at least they'd have a good time.

Greg had everything ready by the time Jack got there. Gooey pb&j sandwiches along with a jug of milk with pb&honey-banana sandwiches as well. There may even have been some Reeses cups thrown in somewhere as well. A few funny movies were tossed into Greg's bag of stuff for the day. If there was nothing on TV, then they could pop in a movie. Sitting on the counter, already biting into a naner sandwich, he waited for Jack, munching away.

Despite the entirely crappy way that the semester had begun, things were going smoothly in Garret's life. Things with Rorie had evened out, and they had a comfortable semi-relationship going on. Things with Mal had heated up, and they too had a working and comfortable (if not bruising) relationship. Plus there was still Wesley, though not sexually but as a comrade in arms, and there was Dragon. There would always be Dragon.

Because Lloyd was overdue for a visit, and because Garret needed to concede that yes, the demon had been right about pretty much everything he ever said to Garret in the entirety of their lives together, the sneaky pathfinder phased his way through the door to Lloyd's office and made himself comfortable. "Hey Dragon," he said with a grin, sauntering his way over to the desk and taking up residence on the corner. He had something very Garret-ish to say, something smooth and sweet with a hint of suggestiveness, but it died in his throat because there was something off about Lloyd. He had a look about him, a look that took a moment to place but when Garret finally did, it made his chest tighten. Lloyd had the look he always had when he was starting a relationship with someone, and it was a promising start. "I've forgotten completely what I was going to say," he said after a moment of just staring. "Sorry. Um. So hi."

Sometimes, the things that came out of Pete's mouth shocked Brad so much that he thought, maybe, the boy had been possessed by some kind of alien creature. He was always so shy, and meek, but then this afternoon bam! Some very interesting and bold things came out of him. He was funny, and a little weird, and Brad wasn't really sure when to take him seriously. Hell, he wasn't sure what to expect when he arrived at Peter's room tonight, but a part of him was a little excited about it. Excited and nervous.

With an armful of some of his own more handsome shirts, Brad stood outside Peter's dorm room, straightening his own outfit before knocking. "Heeeey Pete," he called cheerfully, remembering the comments he'd made earlier about the sex noises and whether or not they would be authentic. Just another one of the surprises Peter always seemed to land on him. Resting his forehead against the door, a smirk grew on Brad's lips. "Mmm, Peter," he groaned loudly, scratching at the door. "Oh, baby, let me in, ooh yeah, I wanna get inside baby, baby let me inside!!"

It had been a strange day, and Nic had ended it with heavy drinking. It wasn't normal for him to act this way, to drink so much that the floor wouldn't stay put beneath his feet. It took a lot of liquor and a little determination to get him to that state, and he had both tonight. Because after his date with Caitlin, who was a very sweet girl, Nic had had a revelation that was both uplifting and utterly depressing. So he had decided to drink. And when he couldn't walk anymore, or see, he had called Linc to come get him.

With his head rested on the table and various glasses surrounding him, Nic waited patiently for Linc to get him, for that familiar smell and that even more familiar scowl and condescending look. He was looking forward to it right now, to the familiar. To the comfort. Seeing Linc's displeased face would be like coming home.
