It's amazing how much our gracious wardens seem to experience technical "glitches". One might start think that these aren't actually glitches at all. [Dry sarcasm, he has it today.]

Perhaps whoever created this prison and the system that supposedly runs it should look into updating their software. Maybe we would experience less problems.

[Honestly, Soushi has the theory that the wardens are doing it all on purpose.]

I suppose if anyone has questions, I can answer them as a regular resident of the dome.

Hi, everyone. I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that something odd is going on again around here, but that's often how Marina is, isn't it? It can be frustrating and unsettling, but we can get through it. Like always, right?

[A beat or two. Although confident, he also feels a little awkward.] Anyway-! Um- I guess what I'm trying to get at is how it can be important to try and stay calm throughout this kind of thing. So I'd like to invite you to Bean Crushers, in Sector 4. Whether you're new [quote-unquote], just want to relax a bit, or anything else. Everyone is welcome to come and have a drink.

It really has been A Day, and right from the very start. His heart had been shattered just minutes after waking, what, with how Soushi suddenly regarded him with a heavy loss of familiarity. Things were off in a general sense, too. People, their memories, how they were behaving. It was was worrisome, but there were still slivers of hope. And Kazuki was good at holding onto those. If they're lucky, maybe it all was simply Marina being Marina. Something which would end soon enough.

In the meantime Kazuki will have been where he very frequently can be found at: Bean Crushers. His home away from home, and workplace since practically the day he showed up here. With how clean and quaint the place is, it shows that Kazuki really takes pride in working here. Along with the espresso machines and other such gear, there are also a couple of siphons on the counter.

Just as addressed a moment ago, any and all are welcome to stop by. Whether a straight up espresso, hot cocoa, wine, or any of the countless options in between, he'll be more than happy to serve.




[OOC: Coffee-shop AU, anyone? Event!Kazuki is very subtle. His friendly personality is pretty much unchanged. Basically he had a normal upbringing, rather than filled w mechas, angst, war, and lots and lots of death. For this he's a college student, (still) an ace athlete, and makes one mean cup of coffee, foam-art included! One of his specialties from home is a particularly spicy chai tea latte. — This Kazuki does believe he's been working at Bean Crushers since arrival. (ps: coffee siphons are like this!)

[It's Kitty but it's also not Kitty. Her hair is long and held back in a pony tail. She's still older than the other resident Kitty though. And her style is unique from both of them.]

I've been here a little while and haven't done the whole, hi, I'm here thing. So, let's get it out of the way. Hi, I'm Kat. Kat Pryde if you want it Bond-style. I already know the ropes of the place so don't worry about giving me all the details. But introductions are good. [She's also wondering if anyone has heard of her. I mean, she was on Jimmy Kimmel's show not long ago talking about one of her company's prototypes and giving a shout out for mutant rights. She's kind of used to being recognized. Not sure how that plays here though.]

Also, and this might be jumping several guns at once, but I'm thinking there should be an inventor's club thing if there isn't one already. I have tech skills we have some raw materials. Who's with me? I might also be interested in a teaching position. I know, I know, I look like a kid, and I am, but I'm also a CEO with some teaching guest lecturing credits under my belt. [The smile is just a little smug which is also covering up some of the "oh em gee" of being in this place. Her life has never exactly been normal, but it's never been this either. It's kind of exciting too though.]

[Everything has basically been the same ever since they came back from the kiosk three days ago. Nothing had to change until they wanted it to - until they ready for it to change. So Kazuki keeps going to work and Soushi keeps going to the library every day. They sometimes have lunch together and always come back to the apartment for dinner. Typically they get in bed at the same time each night though Soushi doesn't always go to sleep right away.

The only real difference is the addition of the blue bands wrapped around their wrist. Something Soushi can ignore when he wants to. It had been who had lead them both to get them but that was simply because he was the sort of person who wanted to be prepared for just about anything. He'd told Kazuki that nothing had to change, not unless they wanted it to and not until they wanted to.

Today Soushi finds himself doing something different. Last night he'd been up extremely late, too immersed in his current book to put it down. That meant he hadn't really gotten up before Kazuki went to work. He'd rolled over and taken the usually offered cup of coffee but hadn't gotten out of bed before the other disappeared for the day. Soushi hadn't come by his work for lunch either, preferring to catch up on all the sleep he'd been missing out the last few nights on by burying his face in Kazuki's pillow and sleeping most of the day away. He had, in fact, slept right through lunch and woke up hungry.

Rather than get something substanial to eat, he'd simply had a protein bar. Convienent and quick. No mess to clean up after. After a quick (by his usual standards) shower, he decided it was rather late in the day to go by the library. He cleaned their too-big apartment and threw out any leftovers that had gone bad. With it done, their refridgerator looked a little bare. Since he wasn't planning to go out and stay out, Soushi might as well go shopping. Maybe he'd make dinner tonight. Yes, that was a good idea. It didn't have to be anything fancy but he could find a recipe for something new - something neither of them has had.

That's how Kazuki will find him when he comes home, puttering around the kitchen with a black apron on and food cooking. Their small table already set for the pair of them. Soushi senses his presence rather than hearing their door open and calls out.]

The food is just about ready, Kazuki.

Good morning, inmates. Today is day [ 384 ] of the first generation. The weather scheduled for today is [ warm and sunny ].

The [ malfunctions ] from the last few days have now been corrected. We apologize for the inconvenience.

New inmates will be arriving in the facility shortly. Please be aware of this disturbance as you go about your day and help them get started on their [ rehabilitation ]. We value your cooperation.

[It's been much easier to get Soushi out and about today. There may be a reason for it, but Kazuki doesn't bother trying to figure it out. He's far, far too at ease for that kind of thing.

With their hands laced, Kazuki practically is dragging him all around. He's already mentioned Soushi to a few of the friends he's made here. It's about time that he introduce them. Although of course meeting new people is good, too.]

[It's quite possible that Soushi has never once witnessed him in such a happy mood, and that's saying quite a lot. To be honest it's kind of embarrassing, with Kazuki often catching himself.

So far the day has been going very well, too, ever since waking up. At some point they looked into taking one of the boats out, thankful that the bots were around to run it.

Later on at some point and they're on the ferris wheel- something he really had only ever heard about. Curious as he is, Kazuki can't help but stand near and gazing out the window. He's of course been much further up in the air than this, but never had the time to take in the view. Piloting isn't at all meant for that sort of thing, or enjoyment in general. So this is plenty special.]

[Nope, he doesn't do heat. At all. That means he didn't go to the waterpark or the beach or any other place where he suspects people might be carrying waterguns or balloons. In fact, most of Soushi's day is spent inside somewhere. That is truly the only way to beat the heat - especially if he doesn't want to end up the color of a lobster.

His time spent outside is extremely brief, simply to get from one location to the next and more importantly - to the air conditioners that are running inside each building. Soushi doesn't really deviate from his normal routine so he can be found in the library surrounded by books in the morning and afternoon, deciding to push lunch back a few hours to avoid going out in the hottest part of the day. Then as the afternoon gives way to the evening he heads over to Squeeze for a light meal and an iced coffee.

Both places will find him reading over various materials. He manages to multitask when eating, ensuring that he doesn't get any food on the book or that eating doesn't slow down his reading. Not even the occasional note-taking manages to interrupt the steady flow of his other activities.]

[The day had begun differently than the last few since he's arrived in Marina. Nothing especially terrible or the like, but there had simply been something off. It left him far more contemplative than he's felt in some time. He did what he could to brush things off and simply go about life as always. —One thing having been the time he spent at Daffodil Dive, which has been fun. Even better, though, just yesterday did he finally get a bike for himself. Something he's wanted for years.

By the time he returns to the apartment, which is later than usual, it seems Soushi is already asleep. Putting a few things away in the kitchen, then getting ready for bed, he settles down with some tea and a few books he got from the library. Nothing fancy, and of course not like the research material Soushi brings back, but enjoyable. He's never been big on reading in general, but like everything else in Marina, he's on the curious side. Especially since the library is a sight to see in and of itself.

He's feeling far more at ease and good once he drifts off to sleep only about an hour later.]

[There is a man with an English accent waving at the camera as the video clicks on. He looks friendly but worried as the ridges on his forehead seem to indicate.]

Hello! I hope someone is able to hear and understand me! This communicator seems to have an inbuilt translation programme as I was able to understand our graceful hosts just fine, but … you never know, right? [He catches himself before he goes on rambling.]

Anyway. I’m the Doctor. I just came here and am now wondering if anyone is able to help me out? The introduction was rather informative already, but some experience reports would be appreciated. How long have all of you been here? What planets are you from? Which time period?

[Some of the worry seems to leave his face as he talks, it being replaced with a small but friendly smile. It disappears again quickly however as he remembers something he should ask as well.]

Oh, and have any of you seen or heard of someone named Clara Oswald? A human, bossy, brunette and short teacher? [He indicates her supposed height with his hand.] If someone could point me in her general direction I would really appreciate it.

Happy Day 365, Marina Nova!

Hear ye, hear ye! Inmates, prisoners, fellow underwater dwellers! Lend me your ears and hands and actually just bring all of you because we're having a ye olde Renaissance Faire to celebrate a full year in this bubble under the sea!

The dome has of course been decked out appropriately. Flickering torches light the pathways, interspersed with larger bonfires that you can cosy up to with that special someone - or perhaps just a glass of honey mead. Pennant banners hang across the gates and along the buildings, sporting the proud coat of arms of the prison (a lot of purple and octopi, for some reason) and many of the clothing stores offer time-appropriate options for those of you who still knows how to have fun. The kiosk has even been re-imagined into a castle.

Many areas within the dome has activities to partake in and, if you're skilled or lucky or both, prizes to win!

[The video feed opens to the sight of a somewhat (initially) embarrassed looking Kazuki. Behind him there's a large steaming pot, numerous bottles of spices, and maybe a stray piece of chopped potato or vegetable here and there.

Someone clearly spent his first day in Marina shopping around, and in general trying to settle a little into all of this. He (along with Soushi) have already found a place to live for the time being along with a few other things.]

. . . If anyone wants curry, you're welcome to come over. I ended up making more than I thought, so there's plenty to go around.

[It's more like he wasn't even thinking about the amount. It's the same as he does as one of the primary chefs at the café back home.

Cooking is definitely going to become a Thing he does a lot (even more of) to try and keep himself from thinking too hard about this whole situation. It's always been something that eases him, and what he loves to do.

[He's just where he stated. Anyone who comes by will probably smell the food he's making as it wafts through the door and down the halls. He's also looking the part with his hair tied in a low ponytail and complete with an apron. There also is a rice cooker going, among a couple other things.

Come taste some pretty awesome curry, everyone. He's famous for it back home.]

[The knot in Kazuki's gut since arriving, which had hardly been an hour ago, continued to sit heavy. There is absolutely nothing right or acceptable about this situation, and his mind continuously falls back to the same questions.

—Although, most especially, what in the world even is all of this really, and how is it possible? He's been through some unique experiences in his life, but this is beyond all of it. Which says a great deal.
