[The video feed opens to the sight of a somewhat (initially) embarrassed looking Kazuki. Behind him there's a large steaming pot, numerous bottles of spices, and maybe a stray piece of chopped potato or vegetable here and there.

Someone clearly spent his first day in Marina shopping around, and in general trying to settle a little into all of this. He (along with Soushi) have already found a place to live for the time being along with a few other things.]

. . . If anyone wants curry, you're welcome to come over. I ended up making more than I thought, so there's plenty to go around.

[It's more like he wasn't even thinking about the amount. It's the same as he does as one of the primary chefs at the café back home.

Cooking is definitely going to become a Thing he does a lot (even more of) to try and keep himself from thinking too hard about this whole situation. It's always been something that eases him, and what he loves to do.

Which is why he adds- ]

Or if anyone has any requests, I suppose. I've stocked up on a lot, and really wouldn't mind making other things.

[He's just where he stated. Anyone who comes by will probably smell the food he's making as it wafts through the door and down the halls. He's also looking the part with his hair tied in a low ponytail and complete with an apron. There also is a rice cooker going, among a couple other things.

Come taste some pretty awesome curry, everyone. ~~He's famous for it back home.~~]

[Said roommate is sitting at the table, nursing a cup of coffee while pouring over the map of MarinaNova. He may or may not be (they both know he is) memorizing the map so that he doesn't have to rely on it all of the time.

Soushi may have been silent while Kazuki addressed the other residents of the prison but he speaks up the moment the communication ends.]

I told you it was too much for just the both of us.

[Though he doesn't sound angry or upset about it.]

	[It's good that he is, too. Kazuki has also studied the map, and explored a little after he had first woken, before coming across Soushi. It's obvious though that Soushi is the one who has a much sharper memory and an eye for detail, though.] . . .I guess it was out of habit. [Also casual.] I can always freeze some. [They can always explore the prison on foot to get a good feel for it another day, what they haven't already seen today. It would be best if he didn't need the map to navigate whenever he wanted to go somewhere new - just in case the technology couldn't be relied upon during a crisis.

But he knows that part of what Kazuki says is in truth. Kazuki has made food for larger amounts - both in the cafe back on Tatsumiya Island and then as they traveled. He also knows that his friend has been making meals for two for longer than that. Maybe there would be occasions when he'd make too much so that Commander Makabe would have something to eat when Kazuki was away at school or work.

That was two years ago, however. At least two years for Kazuki. He has no idea if his friend was making food these days or for how many.]

Hm.

[A slightly curious sound that was also one of analysis.]

It wouldn't be a surprise if half of the residents showed up, at least.

[All food was free but there was a reason why "Kazuki curry" was so popular back home. Just the smell of it cooking is enticing.]

[Considering how escaping is hardly anything that's easily achieved, they certainly will have the time for making their way through and learning whatever they can about the different sectors, along with what the other inmates can tell them. Adapting will be a thing. They can get through this together. Kazuki wonders how long he'll feel guilty over the fact that he's cherishing getting to be beside Soushi again, in a place and situation that shouldn't happen to anyone.

It might be a long while for that sentiment to fade.

All of that is the complete truth. Cooking is something he very much enjoys, while also a way to ease his stress. Considering it (still) as rehabilitation might be accurate, too.

He really hasn't stopped in those two years. A great deal needed to both be created and fixed on Watatsumi Island, but progress came along well enough with everyone helping out. A new café was established, where he and Maya both worked, along with a few others. It isn't at all the same as Rakuen, but it also isn't all that bad. Kazuki cooks a fair lot in general, too. There's been one more mouth to feed.]

That might be nice. [He might be slightly pleased, even amused.] I really wouldn't mind meeting everyone. It'll be a good opportunity to learn more about our situation, as well, of course.

[He knows that eventually they'll go home - one day. People cannot be replaced by clones with none of their friends or family discovering it, especially not if they were extremely close to someone. If he'd been a clone Kazuki, Orihime and even Maya might have picked up on that fact. Not to mention some of their other allies who were more attuned to the Festum side of things than most.

Soushi can kind of understand Kazuki's feelings on his rebirth. He felt similar when Tsubaki was reborn and then again when Orihime was fully conscious. They were similar but different at the same time. His sister was gone and he had a niece instead. The same would be true for Kazuki too - his friend was gone and in his place would be a young child.

There is not one part of him that believes that Kazuki would stop cooking, not entirely. Even if he never helped out in a new cafe on Watatsumi Island, his friend would still make meals for friends, family and those in need. And they would be in need for a while. The other islands hadn't been properly cared for in a long time and would need some fixing up.]

If we're not careful, you'll be running a cafe out of our apartment. [That would be something Soushi doesn't want. He likes his privacy and may be willing to share that with Kazuki - he is not going to share it with the rest of the population.

Every once in a while isn't so bad.

After a minute, Soushi gets up and abandons his coffee to join Kazuki in the kitchen.]

Do you need any help? [A question he asked before his friend decided to invite the entire prison population over but repeats now.]

[Kazuki hadn't especially needed to question the infant he and the other two happened upon. A part of him simply knew of the reasons. That didn't mean he wasn't at all surprised, however. Nor was it something he immediately was used to. It took a great deal of adjusting; the way he - along with everyone - adored the boy came a bit more sooner in comparison.

Although even so, yes, a part of him continued to ache, even after these past two years. He tries to never let him know, or to see it, but Soushi is a smart kid (unsurprisingly). However, by the way Kazuki found himself reacting to seeing him here, he's realized that maybe he's been missing Soushi even more than he realized. Which his friend is likely plenty cognizant of even if he doesn't say a word. He's working to think less about that, but still it's only been barely a full day.]

Yeah, I know.

[He wouldn't let that happen. It's not as if he's that social, either (at least when not compared to how Soushi is).]

Maybe I'll look into finding somewhere to work. It seems like the bots run a lot of establishments, apart from maintenance, but there's bound to be something.

[It'll be a little odd having so much free time. Although of course exploring and learning whatever they're able to about the dome is included.

He glances over, seeming pleased. Also, this is probably one of the largest kitchens he's been in. It's really nice.]

Hm.I think I've got most of it, but you could rotate the vegetables in the oven and check on the chicken.

[Chicken cutlets and roasted vegetables to go along with the already very filling dish of the rice and curry alone. . . He really does seem to be making a lot. There was solid proof with how he had picked up enough food to stock up the kitchen. It'll last them a good while, that's for sure.]

[There wasn't any need to question the infant - one, it had been inside the cockpit of Nicht and two, an infant can't speak. Besides, Kazuki would know everything there was to know. It wouldn't be the first time someone had been reborn and Kazuki certainly knew his reasons for going so far. Still, Soushi hasn't asked too many questions about the child who was most likely a toddler to his friend. He hasn't yet decided if knowing too much about the future will have an affect on it. Most likely not but it wouldn't hurt to wait.

He would be surprised to hear that the child has the same name. That was different from Tsubaki and Orihime, but then he was different from the two of them. Soushi would not be offended to learn that the infant has the same name as Orihime was. Though he could not say the child would feel similarly.

Kazuki is more social - he would feed and talk to an entire population if they weren't fawning over him.]

There's no money here but working will occupy some of our time. [Though Soushi doesn't want them to get too complacent here. It's not their island or even a temporary one they can really think of as home and so they shouldn't forget that they have tasks they should be doing back in their world.] I'll look for something as well.

[In between spending time at the library, that is. Reading every book he can possibly get his hands on - especially the informative ones.

This kitchen almost seems too big. At least too big for just the two of them. It's bigger than the one at Rakuen. Or maybe it's just more open seeing as how it isn't designed to seat a dozen people.

Either way, there's enough room for the both of them to work without stumbling into the other too much. Soushi grabs an oven mitt and a utensil before opening the door and attending to the vegetables.]

We'll be eating leftovers for a week even with others having a plate.

[Seriously, Kazuki. This is way too much food.]

Yeah. That's the only reason.

[To take up time. Although it would be true to say that he's not entirely used to having straight up free time, it can also to some degree be the opposite. He's gone a while without piloting before, although he still kept up with things and spent a good amount of time at Alvis. At other times, it could feel like he barely was able to get enough sleep.

It'll be different, here. In more than just a few ways. Like Soushi, he does know that this isn't anywhere to settle, in any sense of the word. They truly are trapped. It doesn't matter just how much he's embracing the fact that he's able to be by his best friend again. Kazuki knows that all of this isn't forever, so he shouldn't treat it that way.]

I want to see all of what there is to do, and hopefully learn more from the others.

[There has to be at least some positive news to learn . . . Right?]

Sorry. . .

[He just looks kind of embarrassed again with that remark. Because it's beyond true. ]

I'll be more mindful next time.
