Who: Remington and Charlie (the chick, this is gonna get confusing!)

What: Riley's crazy baby mama wants to meet her sorta brother-in-law

In all honesty, Remington wasn't looking forward to this meeting. His brother's ex, and the mother of his child, was a former mental patient. She had been Riley's patient, and given their history, it seemed as though Riley had only made the woman's life worse by crossing a line that should never be crossed between a doctor and patient. Yes, Remington was judgmental, but could you really blame him? His brother had a history of sleeping with patients. Remington was disappointed, and he was sure that showed.

Still, the woman wanted to meet Remington, and he knew he'd have to eventually. He figured it would be better to do so on his own turf, not because of any sort of dominance thing, but Charlie had been cooped up in Riley's house for how long? It might do her good to get out. It might do her even more good to feel as though she wasn't Riley's prisoner. No one liked to be caged up. So he'd invited her to dinner at his new apartment and informed Riley that he was not invited. Harsh? Maybe. But it was how Remington decided to handle things.

The oven and stove top were both occupied when Charlie arrived. He'd told her where to find his apartment and instructed Riley to trust the woman enough to let her show herself from the car to Remington's door. She needed someone to trust in her, even if only in sort bursts. It would build her confidence and hopefully put her on a path toward being able to care for herself. So when she knocked at the door, he rushed over to open it with a smile. The red hair wasn't quite as vibrant as Mara's, but that was normal. Red heads often lost some of the luster as they aged. Still, she was stunning.. far more attractive that he'd expected. "You must be Charlie," he said as he held out his hand. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Remington. Please come in," he said in a warm tone, stepping back to allow her passage. The apartment wasn't decorated, because Remington didn't do 'decor'. But it was clean, warm, and it smelled wonderful from the cooking.
