[Day 213] [Video|Action|Open]
--cannot simply enjoy your own toy? [The picture first opens up choppily and blurred as it moves around and the sound of bells chiming very close by. It takes a few seconds for it to be clear that there are green fields and luscious plants in bloom around. Someone is near the gardens in the park. And they are laughing.

A meow is loud as if the cat is crying out right near the microphone of the communicator. Because it is. The bells keep ringing.]

Just because it has bells doesn't mean it is for you to play with. [The picture is jerked about again, the communicator landing on the ground looking up from an angle. Suddenly, a black shadow tumbles into view and then moves again to give sight to Itachi laying on the ground holding his arm up just out of the line of sight. His hair is falling out of the usual neat ponytail and around his face, messy from whatever struggle he's been fighting. The little black kitten shakes its head from where it had tumbled to the ground and then immediately is leaping back on him, trying to climb up his arm to get to whatever is out of view.]

Then have it your way. [There's another fond laugh before he lowers the wide brim straw hat with torque chimes dangling from it down, closer to his chest. The kitten proceeds to jump on it and knock it to the ground, the bells stopping with a thump. Not that Shinju cares, she's going to bat them around herself until she gets the sound she wants. And Itachi plans on letting her.]

You're worse than he was. Not an easy feat.

[Someone might want to mention that this is recording. He hasn't bothered to notice.]

[He hears the voice and turns to the communicator, realizing that it has been turned out, but not particular seeming to care. He lifts if up, but doesn't bother moving from his position on the ground.]

There is little to do here besides indulge ourselves in things we would have denied before or had no capability to do. I indulge her more than myself.

[The bells tingle and she smacks one again and then tries to gnaw on it.] Her name is Shinju.

She's a beautiful cat and very friendly it seems. You must indulge in her whims very much.

[ and that is a sign of a good man in her estimation. One of the few that actually counts. ]

Were you unable to have pets then, where you were from originally or was it simply never the right time?

[ she gasped, her eyes going wide at his revelation ] You mean you could really speak with them?

[ she whistled and then laughed ]

I suppose you'll never need to fear forgetting to fed your cat then if that were so. Not that they're inclined to let you forget as it is.

[ even so, the din of a cat's meow has whole new meaning as she imagined what words they'd choose to speak. ]

As if their Grandmother would have allowed such a thing. She would have revoke our contract with them for such disrespect.

[Shinju does not care much for the conversation. It is distraction Itachi from giving her attention. She pounces back on him. Only to realize that the hat is still on the ground and not on his stomach. She looks between the two.]

It is strange to think of worlds where animals are so limited.

And likewise to believe there are worlds were they are not. Although it little matters. In some cultures back where I'm from, cats were revered and taken care of like gods.

[ She can hardly fathom their reasons for it however. She was much more of the opinion one should pave their own way in life. Although she laughed a little, watching Shinju hesitate. ]

I believe I've been a distraction. Perhaps I should leave you to your play. [ although she had been enjoying the conversation, but when pets demand... ]

There is no distraction when the trouble is that she cannot make up her own mind. [Itachi solves Shinju's dilemma by merely reaching out to grab the conical hat, lifting it as the bells chime and holding it up for her to jump at. It is not as if his arm will get tired by it.]

We do not reverse common animals, but the tailed-beasts are a different matter entirely. Some religious sects do reverse them, while others merely view them as weapons.

A tailed beast? Is that what you call these animals who can converse with you?

[ revered indeed if such was so but she had almost imagined they would have a more descriptive name. ]

You're perfectly right of course. It's in our nature to fear that which can destroy us and likewise worship it. It may also well be the reason we seek to destroy them first before they can destroy us.

Is there truly no redeeming quality to these tailed beasts, other then the destructive power that they wield?

	Perhaps. The more powerful they are, the more sentient they can be. It was never in my mind to care considering that even when sentient they enjoyed destruction. Completely? Without properly vetting them first? You may be doing them a great disservice speaking as such. Are they truly the cause of this destruction you speak of, or are they simply fighting to survive?

They are dangerous, destructive, and legend says that they exist only because their true form was so powerful that even the greatest human alive knew one creature with such destructive force could not be left to roam the Earth, continuing to plague mankind. It is said he split the beast into nine to protect the world. If no different that leaving nine bombs wandering the Earth until the time they detonate.

[Cute? Even before Itachi became a "zombie ninja" as Kitty puts it, he wasn't sure if he was what people would call "cute" at any time of his life."]

Then you judge too easily by looks rather than experience. Cats are well revered by my family. [He says it easily, because his mood is going to be very hard to bring down at that moment. He's more amused by her than anything. Shinju is perfectly okay with the women coming back, sniffing at her hand easily.]

And she is rather spoiled. [By which he means the kitten.]

I suppose it comes from the fact in the world I am from it is only too easy to judge by looks. And there I am rarely wrong.
