Who: Berta and Beth
What: Have a serious talk

With her shoulder bag clutched hard in her hands, Beth walked quickly to Berta's room. It was probably best to get this over with as soon as possible. She liked Berta, but she didn't want to lie to her anymore. That kiss had changed things between them. Beth didn't know if Berta felt something for her, if there were real feelings there or if it was just because Berta had been drunk and Beth wasn't one to protest, but if feelings were starting to grow then she knew she had to be honest. And truth be told, she thought maybe that she was starting to get a crush on Berta, too.
But their friendship was probably gone now. After this, why would Berta want to even talk to her anymore? Beth had to be brave, though. She knew this sort of thing might come up eventually, and she needed to face the consequences. So after smoothing down her hair and brushing lint from her sweater and skirt, she stood in front of Berta's door, her hand poised to knock. This could be the end of their friendship, and Beth was going to miss this. She had a lot of fun with Berta. Rapping on the door, she kept her head high, and tried to smile. "Berta," she said. "Um, it's Beth. Can I come in?"
