Thursday: March/19/09

Who: Charlie and McKenna
When: Thursday night
Where: starting at her apartment and heading into the city
What: a DATE!

Tonight had actually been planned as a real date, unlike Charlie's outing with Jay the other night. His intentions made him more nervous. He really liked McKenna. She was beautiful, smart, funny, and had been nothing but nice to him since the first night they met in her bathtub. To be honest, if he was ready to venture into another relationship, he'd pick her. Maybe he would be eventually, but not tonight. Tonight he was just looking to get back into the swing of things and have a good time with a good friend. What happened after that was anyone's guess. He'd have to see where things went.

This was the most casual he'd ever dressed for a first date, and that probably spoke volumes about his feelings for McKenna. He felt like he could be himself around her. She was so easy to talk to. She knew most of his secrets already and for some reason still liked him.

Far different from a trip to a strip club, Charlie planned this date to be youthful, innocent even. When he arrived at her door (just across the hall) and gave it a knock, he was wearing jeans, a dark grey Henley, and a black wool coat. He also had on sneakers in place of his usual motorcycle boots. He hoped she'd dressed casual as he'd suggested.

Thursday 26th February 09

Who: Ava and McKenna
What: The vamp needs help
Where: McKenna's apartment
When: Thursday morning

Ava had just headed for the stairs to go back to her own apartment when she realised that not only had she left her robe, bra and stockings in Charlie's apartment, but that meant her keys to her on-campus apartment were in there too. Dammit! There was no way that she was going to go back to him to ask for them back, but she couldn't traipse across campus either to try and get a spare because she was only wearing his shirt and a pair of panties, and she had no phone to call anyone to help her! Could this morning get any worse? She was going to have to knock on someone's door and hope they could help out.

Ana was her first thought, but she had no idea which apartment her twin would be in, her own or Adam's, and besides, she was probably asleep, like any sensible vampire should be instead of locked out of their apartment in a foul mood and minimal clothing. Ava would just have to try someone else, so she knocked on a random door, then crossed her arms, waiting for an answer.

Thursday: February/26/09

Who: Charlie and Maggie (and later McKenna, possibly)
When: Thursday evening
Where: his new apartment
What: an important conversation, then cookies and milk with McKenna!

This wasn't going to be an easy conversation, and Charlie wasn't sure he'd be able to keep his temper in check. He had to. This was all about him and Ava, and there was no reason for Maggie to be dragged down by it. She loved Ava, and he didn't want to ruin that. So long as Ava was good to his goddaughter, Charlie saw no reason to keep them apart.

When Maggie arrived at his apartment, dinner was just about ready. He figured they could eat, maybe play some video games, and eventually he'd work up the courage to tell her about the divorce and that it didn't look likely that a reconciliation was in their future. After his fight with Ava this morning, it seemed unlikely he'd ever even be able to have a civil conversation with her. Too many hurtful things had been said, and Charlie would never, ever be able to get the images of her and Godric out of his head. It was hard for Charlie to avoid killing the other vampire. But, again, this was about taking care of Maggie and doing what was best for her.

Sunday: February/15/09

Who: Charlie and McKenna
When: Sunday night
Where: her apartment
What: checking up like he promised he would

Charlie hadn't forgotten his promise to return to McKenna's apartment and check up on her. He'd simply gotten distracted. Ava came over, ripped his heart out, and he needed some time to recover before he could stand the company of another person. He didn't want to upset McKenna, especially not right now when she was still recovering. Plus, she didn't really know him, and it was rude to unload serious baggage on someone you'd just met.

He headed over to her place a little later than planned and hoped he wasn't disturbing her when he knocked. Charlie's knuckles were purposely light on the wood for that very reason. If she was sleeping, she'd hopefully stay that way. Then again, he'd promised to check on her, and he didn't want her thinking he broke that promise.

Sunday: February/15/09

Who: Charlie and McKenna
When: early Sunday morning (probably 2am-ish?)
Where: her apartment
What: room service medicine!

Once Charlie was convinced Ana would be fine, he left her in Adam’s capable hands to look after as she continued to recover from the virus. It took time for the cure to fully kick in. Now Charlie had a whole school full of people who needed his help. He wanted to rush to the people he knew and cared for the most, but logic told him that he’d need help. Cure a few more staff members, and then have them spread out with more of the cure, helping everyone they could. It would be disorganized at first, but they would get to everyone as quickly as possible.

With all this in mind, he knocked on the first door he found. It was directly to the right as he exited Adam’s apartment. 5C. “Hello?” he called out, “Anyone home? It’s Charlie Burghard.. I’ve got a cure for the virus.” He didn’t know who lived in this apartment.

Sunday: February/1/09

Who: Starbuck, Kim and McKenna (and Kamea for a bit)
When: Sunday evening
Where: Starbuck and Kim's apartment
What: a small dinner party

The lasagna had turned out nicely, and, as expected, Kamea absolutely adored McKenna. The woman's tricks with water inspired an awestruck expression on the little girl's face, before it lit up and spewed forth giggles of mirth. There were many cries of, "Again!" Starbuck just chuckled as he watched. It was a shame McKenna couldn't have children of her own. She'd be a fantastic mother. Starbuck hoped she really would adopt one day.

After dinner, he shooed everyone into the living room to chat. "I'll take care of the dishes. Maybe you guys can find a movie to watch."

Kamea chimed in on that one, "Nemo!" she demanded.

"Sweetie, I think we've all seen Nemo enough. Maybe you should see if McKenna has a preference." He would sit through another showing of Nemo if necessary, because it was a cool movie, but he was burned out from watching it so often lately.
