Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Busted

[info]marinanova_npc
[info]marinanova
[ Did you really think you'd be allowed to explore freely to your hearts content? This was never meant to happen and it certainly wasn't meant to last — before long the security system kicks into gear, unleashing a veritable swarm of spider robots designed to encourage and hoard reluctant prisoners. You're welcome to try and escape or even destroy a few, but they'll keep coming in overwhelming numbers, armed with tiny tasers that zap and prod until every single one of you has been sniffed out and brought to the exercise yard.

The Engineers are waiting for you there. You were brave enough to exploit a security breach. Perhaps your rewards will be a one-on-one with the very people responsible for keeping you here? Or perhaps this is just a way to buy time. Either way, you'll be stuck out here until they decide to end it. ]

(OOC: This mingle is for those who went through the doors only. Feel free to mingle amongst yourself or approach the Engineers if you're brave enough! They will have threads for this purpose here: SMITH and MARY

Day 293 - Video / Action

[info]candothat
[info]marinanova
[VIDEO]
[It's well into evening by the time Chekov, confident that he has a solid understanding of this new prison, makes use of the communication device that he was issued upon arrival. The nineteen year-old bears a striking resemblance to a current inmate. His posture is significantly better, he looks far healthier, and he has a ridiculous accent, but there may still be confusion.]

This is Lieutenant Pavel Andreievich Chekov of the starship Enterprise. I would ask anyone who is affiliated with Starfleet to respond to this message, please.

[Not the most subtle of hails, but he doesn't want to risk missing fellow officers by taking a stealthier approach. Why put effort into being subtle, anyway? Isolated prison universes are very different from, say, alien planets; Starfleet's rules regarding contact with new lifeforms hardly apply.

Business out of the way, the Russian abandons the careful diction and formal tone for something warmer and more personable.]

Is there anyone who is interested in speaking with me? I find foreign universes very lonely and boring when everyone is still a stranger.

[ACTION]
[Chekov spends the day investigating sectors one, two, and three, taking a special interest in the maintenance bots that are busy cleaning up after the storm. The food carts in sector one also capture his attention. As soon as he decides that it would be ridiculous for those in charge to poison those they wish to rehabilitate, he becomes intent on tasting everything that is both edible and unfamiliar. When imprisoned, it's always wise to take advantage of any hospitality offered.

He keeps the headset off as often as possible. It's an annoying contraption--not nearly as sleek and unobtrusive as devices at home with similar functions. Should anyone address him in a language that he doesn't understand, however, he's perfectly willing to put it back on, as is polite.]

Day 267 | Morning | Sector 4, near the Plush Romp

[info]amarsmellow
[info]marinanova
[Okay, Veronica, let's think about this.

You've woken up in a prison jumpsuit, with a gawky headset saying you've been convicted of numerous crimes. Somebody has gone through a lot of trouble and money to prank you. Considering I'm right outside a sex shop, I'd say it was Dick, but he doesn't have the intelligence or the commitment. One of his friends?

It could be anyone. Face it, you've made a lot of enemies, and most of them are extremely wealthy and stopped maturing in high school. I didn't think anyone had this much imagination, though. More to the point, I don't think I've been drugged. No headache, no dry mouth, no nausea. Maybe I've just been unconscious long enough for all the common side effects to pass, but that seems a little too convenient. Are there drugs with no side effects?

I really should have studied pharmaceuticals instead of psychology in undergrad. Damn.

So recap: prison jumpsuit, no sign of drugs, no idea who has both the resources and the imagination to pull a stunt like this. You got nothing, Veronica.

Time to see what you can find out.
]

[ action ]
[Her course of action decided, Veronica sticks the headset in the waistband of her pants — it's strange and she'd rather not wear it unless she absolutely has to — and heads out to explore her surroundings. There has to be some kind of answer somewhere.]

Day 266 [Closed Action] [Engineers]

[info]just_smith
[info]marinanova
[Smith scanned the floating island before heading through the mysterious door to it. No inmates playing in her garden. Good. She didn't much feel like dealing with their inane insights or prattling right now. She has more important things to do like scrunching and unscrunching her face in front of her hand mirror and studying the way her eyebrows arch and her skin folds and smooths.

All and all, it is a pleasing and appropriate visage for her. That's why she chose it when they decided to interact with the locals. Granted, all bipeds are a bit...icky. But that was the template for the average MarinaNova inmate and she was going for something that would blend. She didn't exactly want to end up as a copy of someone else though.]

Profile status?

Processing and still inconclusive. Just like the last four times you asked.

Save the attitude for Mary unless you want to be recommissioned as a blender.

Maybe you shouldn't have incorporated a personality so similar to your own in my system if it bothers you.

Silent mode. [Scrunch. Scrunch.]

Day 257 — School Fair Mingle

[info]friendly_fire
[info]marinanova
[Welcome to the school fair brought to you by Euphemia and a lot of hard working volunteers. Things may seem a little more homemade and less polished and plentiful than they do during a warden-run celebration, but everything was done with a lot of heart. As you walk around you'll find:

Informational booth. There is a brightly-colored booth when you first come in adorned with school catalogs and multi-colored gift bags featuring pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, bookmarks, binders, and more. Euphie will be there much of the day enabling new students and teachers.

Booths for classes and activities. Teachers were all encouraged to have displays or games or just be there to talk about what they offer for however long they're willing. Leaders of organizations that exist or that they want to create can do the same. And if someone wants to make a kissing booth or something no one will stop them!

Food. They are set up in sector 0 with all the food carts hosting a variety of street foods, perfect for eating on the move. There are also tables set up with desserts including cake pops, carmel corn, and cookies-on-a-stick as well as coolers with non-alcoholic beverages.

Games. There's a duck pond where you pull out a rubber ducky and get a simple prize that corresponds to the number on it. There's also a ring toss and a target hitting game with a paint ball gun. Since it's a school fair there are also some learning games like a trivia challenge. Chess boards have also been set up for people to enjoy, including one giant chess board where you can use the giant pieces or your friends. You'll also find life-size Jenga blocks. Don't worry, they are a light weight material in case they collapse on you.

Giant Puzzle. In the morning there is a large-scale puzzle set up surrounded by paints and brushes. The puzzle is already assembled, but blank. Each piece is larger than your head. People are encouraged to paint on it until it has all been filled. That afternoon it will be broken up for people to reassemble.

Stage. There's a small stage with a variety of instruments lined up in hopes of people showing off various talents from singing, to playing music, to dancing, to reading poetry, or juggling. Whatever they might want to share!]

(OOC: Everyone is sooo welcome to get engaged! Do something fun, weird, dangerous with a booth or the stage or anything in your comments. Need some extra plotting?)

[Day 243] Action - Closed

[info]just_smith
[info]marinanova
[There's a slight click as the doorknob twists and the door upon the floating island which is connected to nothing and never opens—opens. Some of the inmates would know the person who steps through as Smith, though it's just a name she's trying on for size here, much like the appearance of a young blonde humanoid woman.]

There you are. Reading again?

[Day 233] Advanced Technology Class — mingle

[info]kitty_has_claws
[info]marinanova
[Kitty wastes no time getting started with today's exercise. She's more into practical applications than lectures most of the time.]

We've had some fun with hardware games. Today, we're playing network wars.

We'll take turns setting up private calls on the network to people in this class or outside of it and then breaking into those encrypted calls. Share notes. Discuss. Get better at both sides of it, and try to say something worth hacking into while you're at it.

(OOC: Tag into the mingle by setting up a call with someone. You can prearrange who that call will be with and thread it out or handwave it and just show your side of a conversation. Then people will hack/threadjack their way in. Please give people some idea of difficulty for how hard yours should be to hack. And, of course, you can always talk before and after class, outside of the exercise!

You can assume your character has been to this class many times before or it's their first time. You can talk to Kitty here.)

[Puck's voice sounds cheerful, which isn't an unusual thing for Puck's voice to do, but to those who know him very well - not that there are many in the dome - it might actually sound a little more upbeat than usual.]

So it's been how many technical difficulties in how many days now? Not that I'm complaining [quite the opposite] or trying to imply someone else could do a better job, oh no... but I think it's about time we started taking bets on what it's going to be next.

Can we have a flood? How many other prisons can boast having had an underwater flood? [He playfully clear his throat.] --Probably one or two, considering how the prisons around here seem to multiply like cockroaches. But nevermind that. Underwater flood. Come on, esteemed overlords, you know you want it.

And from one topic to another... isn't there a little lamb out there who thinks something is a bit overdue?

DAY 226 — Christmas Day Mingle

[info]marinanova_npc
[info]marinanova
[ Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening! A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland inside-out snowglobe at the bottom of the sea!

The prison is sparkly-white on this fine, crisp day, covered in a thick, fluffy layer of pristine snow. Bots are keeping the walkways free and safe for organic travel, but it isn't hard to find spaces fit for snowball fights, fort-building or snow angels! If the chill gets to you, there's plenty of hot, seasonal beverages readily available, along with other christmas-y snacks. Maybe you'd like to visit the Santa exhibit at the museum, or do a little last-minute shopping for presents? Perhaps you're already set to celebrate the holiday!

Whatever it is you want to do, this is the place to do it! ]

I'm listening.
